So I am in the final countdown to the wedding, weeks and days now, not just months. Maybe my emotions are out of control because of that and I should just ignore everything.

So, I had my shower this past weekend which was very nice but not only did not of my friends (except those in the bridal party) not show but they didn't even respond. Granted it would have been a 2 hour drive for most of them so I can understand if they cannot make it. My sister said she expected they would have a shower for me at the office (I work with most of them) since that's always been what we've done for others but no one has said a word.
Well, now my BM sent out an evite for the bachelorette party and no one has yet to give me more than a maybe. So like i mentioned, I am not feeling the love! Maybe they are not the true friends I thought they were? I am not sure if I should feel this way but the whole thing just makes me sad and disappointed.

Hi ladies!

It seems like this board has been pretty slow recently. This has been a week from hell.

For those of you that know about me, I did accept the job offer this past Monday. I start on May 23. I am so excited. My Dad is coming down here to help me take my stuff back and follow me so I am not driving alone. H will probably join me Memorial Day weekend as he has a project he has to finish up at work before he gives his notice.

With the good news of me accepting the job, came some bad news. On Monday morning, I was heading to the gym when I heard water running. We live in apt where the hot water tank is inside the apt. I was pretty sure it couldn't be ours b/c they just replaced it when we moved in there in November. I opened the closet door and water was pouring from the ceiling. The second floor water tank was leaking and leaking bad.

Long story short, if I wasn't home, we would have lost everything. I was able to get maintence out there asap and had to call H home from work. I was in total panic mode unplugging the electronics and moving stuff out of the way. We have renters insurance, but I think everything is going to be okay. I will have to have the couch cleaned once we get moved and find a place of our own b/c it got wet before I could move it out of the way. The only room that wasn't affected was the master bedroom. The ceiling almost fell through in the living room but they placed a board there to hold it up.

We went round and round with the apt complex, but the good news is they are letting us out of our lease early due to the conditions. And they are not replacing the carpet, so there is no dealing for us on staying there until the end of the lease. Our friend from church is letting us stay with her (her husband is in Afghanistan) and store our stuff in her garage b/c they don't park their cars in it. We are just so thankful that this whole thing isn't costing us a small fortune if we had to stay in a hotel for a month.

Alright, I need some guidance from you Columbus ladies!! We are planning to do a reveal photo session before the ceremony starts but I have no idea where we should have it. I have talked to my photographer and she's brainstorming as well, but I figured I'd see what you all could come up with!! We don't want to do the reveal at the church because we will be taking the majority of our pictures there. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated!!

Does anyone know where I can get the bra and a mermaid slip for my wedding dress? They were suppose to be included in the price of my wedding dress (per the lady assisting me) but she no longer works there and I have no slip or bra. They told me I could buy them at the store but they want $80 for the bra and $80 for the slip...I just think it's a little pricey seeing as I will only be wearing them once....Does anyone know of a place I could get them for less? I can't believe I paid $13,000 for cosmetology school and I am worried about my wedding day makeup! The thiing is I really never wear makeup. once in awhile I go on a kick, I know always to buy the good stuff with as many natural ingredients as possible and that weddings are a day you should spare no expense on water proofing! I'd really like to consult a professional about what the best things are that are currently available. I have no problem purchasing a few products the day of the consult and leaving with a list of things I need to come back to get!'

My question is does anyone know a makeup counter or artist in the Columbus (I am near Westerville) area that does trials/makeovers/ whatever you want to call them? I'd prefer one that uses people who are pretty well trained and friendly~!

Hello Everyone! i have a few items for sale that i never wore.... since my husband just wanted to go to a JP after we had already planned the wedding and bought everything.... I have gotten rid of everything else and i just have a few pieces now.... It hurts to look at these items everyday seeing as the only place for them is in my closet of course, all items have been stored properly and have only been taken out of their packages once so i could take pictures of them.... these items are brand new from davids bridal i have a dress, shoes, and garters(2pack) if interested email stepahnie at s.n512@yahoo.com....

Hi Ladies. I have a dilemma and I need some advice. My bridal shower is at the end of the month. It is being held at an off-site location that my company owns (that's how wee got a huge discount). Anyway I work in a department that has 2 designers, 2 technicians and a manager. The problem is I want to invite our female technician and my designer counterpart but not our manager. Our manager really doesn't like me (based on some off color things she has said it seems to stem from race and educational level). I really want to invite the other 2 ladies because I am close to them but would rather not invite the manager because her issues are really for HR to deal with and I don't want her ruining my shower with her hatred. I also don't feel that I can properly explain to the other ladies that they got an invite and she hasn't since it is an HR issue. But I know that the manager will make a big stink if she finds out the other 2 got invitations and she did not (she likes to gossip about things outside of work and talk down about people. So any advice would be much appreciated.

I wanted really nice invititaions but was just reminded that they will only be thrown away/recycled by 90% of people when I put my friend's invite in my recycle bin (destination wedding we unfortunately cannot attend).

FI and I went and purchased our wedding bands yesterday! At first, he was VERY impatient as we had to wait almost 25 minutes to be helped. They were very short staffed and had a huge mothers day sale going on.

I already had something in mind as to what I was looking for, but fell in love with an enhancer that was COMPLETELY different than what I thought I wanted. The one I chose really complimented my princess cut, diamond solitaire engagement ring! I am in LOVE with it! FI was a little hesitant at first in picking his out... but in the end, I think he ended up having more fun than I did! He ended up picking out a tungsten band with a neat design on it. We cant wait until they come in, in the right sizes! The hard part is waiting 16 months from today to wear them! :)

Just wanted to share our excitement! Has anyone else bought their wedding bands recently or how was your experience?

Reiterating all of our vendors were GLBT friendly

DJ - Night Music/Jodi Ransom
Jodi was wonderful to work with. On our wedding day she kept things on track and even helped with announcements about our guest book (which was not entirely obvious as a scrapbook so the announcement finally got things going with it), doing line dances, and incorporating our father/daughter dance music last minute. She was responsive to our requests and emails and had great suggestions.

Flowers - Flower Factory
We ordered 13 dozen roses from FF to do ourselves. The flowers were stunning. We had some communication issues though on timing and pricing. We went to the store in Dayton originally 6 months prior to our wedding. They said we should wait until later to order the flowers. We went another two times and it was decided we should get the flowers from the Columbus FF but we weren't given specific details. There was some confusion and they didn't get the order until the week before our wedding, but we still got the flowers and everything turned out well. I would just stick to using one FF and ask for the contract the first time you go in.

Dresses - David's Bridal
David's Bridal is great in the fact that their dresses are inexpensive for what you get. My first experience was wonderful and I bought a dress off the rack. Every subsequent experience was terrible. I had a bridesmaid coming from Germany and they lost her measurements twice. Our other bridesmaids went in and often the salespeople could not find our wedding and couldn't give them the information needed for their dresses. They gave one of my bridesmaids the wrong dress. One salesperson basically called one of our bridesmaids fat. We chose David's specifically because we thought it would be easiest on the bridesmaids. In the end, we loved our dresses but it was certainly quite a hassle.

Tuxes - Skeffingtons
We only needed a few tuxes, but they were friendly and efficient. The tuxes fit well and looked sharp. The only dissappointment was that one of our groomsmen became too ito attend. We asked if they could refund us anything for the tux a month prior, but they declined. This was written clearly in the contract, but we thought to ask just in case.

Ceremony Musicians - Fiddles and Faces
Fiddles and Faces has some really talented violinists. We heard samples of music prior to the wedding, but not a lot of the preceremony music because we were whisked away. My wife's parents are both music majors (cellists) and they had nothing but good things to say about the two performers (Sarah and Naomi).

Hair - Shannon Goode
Everyone loved Shannon. She was able to take specific ideas, vague ideas or make her own suggestions to give all of our ladies amazing hair. My sister and I are allergic types so she was quite careful with us. We had 8 people with ribbons, roses, all up styles, half-up styles, etc. She was so sweet and able to make everyone really happy.

Cake - Golden Delight and Pistachia Vera
My aunt made our formal wedding cake, but we got the straberry sheet cake from Golden Delight and a small gluten free cake from Pistachia Vera. Both were delicious.

Hi Knotties,
I need some help with scheduling makeup/hair times for my wedding day. My ceremony is at 4:30 downtown, and we cannot even access the church until 3pm. We will be getting ready before then at The Blackwell hotel on campus...I'm booking a make-up artist to come to the Blackwell, but don't know when to tell her to start! The entire make-up application time for bride/BP/mothers will be 2 hours and 45 minutes. Here are my questions:

1) When do I need to be "game ready" if I'm not doing a "first look"? Is 2:30 or 3 enough time to get to the church/take pre-ceremony pics?

2) Is hair usually done before or after makeup application?

Anyone have any suggestions or advice? Thanks!
