Hi,

I am getting married in July 2012 and I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on a great wedding planner. I am looking for someone like David Tutera ( My Fair Wedding WeTv) but not as expensive. I know I can't find someone as good as him in Columbus, but is there anyone who is even close? I like the way he designs the theme, helps pick out the bridesmaid dresses, and etc. He goes with the bride to the florist, bakery, and venue. To me THAT's a full service wedding planner.

I have contacted at least 10 - 20 wedding planners and it is so hard to get in contact with them. All of them seem to be small businesses who don't have a receptionist or even a virtual assistant. You send an email and 3 days later you have no response from almost 2/3rds of them. For some it has been over 1 week.

I just send a simple email requesting a consultation with them. I am new to this, but I hope this isn't the norm. Are we just not that important? I have contacted wedding consultants who have websites, are members of the OBC or the CBC, and have at least 4 years experience in the business. I have contacted people who have offices downtown off High Street and are featured on the news and everything.

Can someone please recommend a full service wedding provider who also designs a theme and the decor. Someone who is customer service oriented.

Running of the Brides

I saw that the previously postponed running of the brides is now rescheduled for May 20. Has anyone ever participated in this event or planning on participating? I'm really wanting to check it out but it's 6 months before my wedding and I'm debating whether or not it's worth the risk! Everything I've read say buy your dress early enough and I already feel way behind because my wedding is in 8 months and I haven't even started looking at dresses.

I am hoping someone can help me with this, but if not I will call around to local salons (it's just so early right now, and I am testing kids...) So, I had this idea that I would like a small group of girls to go to a local spa and get hair, nails, massage, whatever they want done, etc. I'd like to make a day of it. I would also like a place that serves alcohol like mimosas, margaritas, wine, etc. Does anyone know of a place like this in Columbus or the surrounding area? Thanks :)

Ok ladies, I have never gotten a spray tan before, so I am not really familiar with them. However, I'm doing the boudoir photos with Lisa Rice on April 9th, and I look like a ghost!! Ok, not really, but paler than usual since the sun has been hiding.

So, suggestions on places to get a spray tan? Approximately how much will it cost? And, how many days in advance should I get it?

Same with waxing, suggestions and how many days in advance?

Need some cake recommendations - contact info would be good, too! We're expecting 150-175 people, no fondant, nothing too outrageous decoration-wise. Is it better to do a small main cake w/ sheet cake on the side?

Also, I have no idea about booking a baker - do you taste from several different bakers before booking one, or book one then taste a few different cakes from them to decide which flavors you want?

I am an OOT bride planning my wedding in the Columbus area. My ceremony is in Dublin and most guests will be staying in that area. Does anyone have any suggestions on where we could have our rehersal dinner? We will probably have close to 50 people with our families. I would like to have italian food or possibly rent out a space or even wine bar that I could bring in our own caterer. That is just my initial thought but I am open to any suggestions! Please help!

I was recently in a large wedding at this church conducted by Father Tony Borgia. If we ALL weren't so appalled and offended by this man's behavior, I wouldn't have wasted the time to sign into my Knot account from last year to warn others about him. 1. He expects NO ONE to celebrate with ONE DROP of alcohol on the day of the wedding. This means he pre-admonishes groups of adults at the rehearsal by threatening to 'walk out of the wedding' if he hears 'that the bride has a mimosa' or the 'groom has a shot' or if anyone in the bridal party does it either. He threatens the bride and groom into being babysitters for their own adult crew or he will 'just walk out and go home and watch tv'. He is proud of the fact that he's 'done it before, he'll do it again'. 2. During the rehearsal, he feels it necessary to admonish those in the pews, not in the wedding at all and not disturbing anyone, like a schoolteacher yelling at students. 3. During the wedding, he 'calls on' members of the bridal party to answer questions about what he thinks makes a good marriage and if you say something he doesn't like (because he, never married, is the authority on marriage and he should judge what married people suggest, even if they are trying to be funny) he rolls his eyes, shakes his head with disdain, and announces to the whole church that 'you can ask that person later what they said', making it an awkward moment that detracts from the ceremony. Many of us in the bridal party had our jaws drop so many times at his level and amount of offending, condescending attidues and comments that I wanted to find a way to inform others about this unfortunate behavior. Avoid at least this celebrant at this church unless you want to be treated like an irresponsible toddler by someone who seems quite happy to so so especially with an audience. I was born and raised Catholic and was embarassed by this celebrant and hope those in attendance, both guests and wedding party, don't think this is how all Catholic priests treat people.

Hi Ladies! Just wondering how many of you had your BM dresses altered down in C-Bus, where at, and how much it ran them? My girls are coming in for an alterations party with my seamstress and one of my BMs is concerned with the price of her alterations, but the other 2 don't seem too worried about it. Can I get a rough average of what your girls' alterations cost per girl and what was done to them (hem, taken in etc). Thanks!!!

Our minister requires us to go through pre-marital counseling before he will marry us...he doesnt do it because he isnt a professional and doesnt have a therapist degree....whatever I just need help finding someone. idk if this is wrong of me but Im not looking to spend hundreds of dollars on therapy when it could be spent on something else. guest book question

How do you all feel about the necessity of a guest book?

I made a small paperback photo guest book on shutterfly. I was going to put it out at the reception for people to look at the photos and sign or write a message if they wish (it's not an official-looking, sign here on the dotted line, kind of book). I'm just not sure if I also need an official guest book for people to sign when people walk into the ceremony.

P.S. it's an outdoor ceremony if that makes any difference.
