Hi ladies! I was married on April 10th. Here are my vendor reviews:

Ceremony and Reception - Crowne Plaza A++++
Everything was perfect. We had so many compliments on the food. The wedding coordinator (Terri) was great too. Also, the room that we had it in was so beautiful. We didn't even need to decorate (besides flowers of course). It was too windy to have the ceremony outside that day, but they accomodated us very well. They took all of the tables out of our reception room and set it up for the ceremony. The room overlooked the river which was really cool. During the cocktail hour they turned the room back into reception space. Our complimentary suite was really nice too. They offered us early check in to get ready which was really nice.

Officiant- Mark Simon A+
Mark was very easy to work with and did a great job. He was inexpensive too. I couldn't believe what some people charge.

Ceremony Music - Monet Legget (Harpist) A+++
She did a great job. She played for the ceremony and the cocktail hour. Everyone enjoyed it. She was also the best value in town if you ask me.

Photographer - Cathy Kautz with Captured Moments A+++
Cathy was awesome. The pictures turned out great. She had them to me less than a week after the wedding. I have heard of people waiting months to get their pictures, so I was pretty surprised. The pictures were exactly what we wanted. if you are looking for a great photographer but do not want to pay thousands of dollars, use Cathy!

DJ - Bob Norris with ClassAct A+
Bob kept the party going all night. He was very professional and affordable too.

Cake - Wixeys A+
The cake was delicious!. It was also very pretty. I really wanted to get a fondant cake, but the Crowne plaza has an agreement with Wixeys so it made it easier to go through them. I was very happy with my decision in the end. It not only looked great, but tasted way better than fondant. We had so many compliments on the cake.

Flowers
My mom, sister, aunt and I actually did the flowers ourself the day before the wedding. I purchased purple and white tulips from Bartz Viviano. They were very inexpensive and beatiful. It actually wasn't too much work at all. It saved me a ton of money too. I was able to make 10 centerpieces and bridal bouquet and three bridesmaids bouquets for under 200 dollars. I even had some left over flowers to decorate the cake table :)

Dress - Atlas Bridal B
I didn't feel that the woman was very helpful here. The dress was very pretty thoguh ( I found it on my own with no help from her).

Alterations - Sewandsuch A
My alterations cost a bit more than I had expected. They did a great job though. My dress required quite a few bustle points so that's why it was more than I thought it would be. My husbands uncle actually stepped on my dress during the reception and ripped out every one of the bustles on the left side of the dress. I just tied the dress in a knot so that I could keep dancing.

Has anyone used Connie's Celebrations to cater their wedding? I have tried to search online for some reviews and can not find anything. They don't really do food tastings so that already makes me a little nervous about hiring them. Any other caterers that you can suggest that will be around 13.00 pp or less?? Thanks!

Wedding Dress re-styling...seamstress recommendations?

Hi, I'm getting married in a year and a few months, and am planning to wear my mom's wedding dress. I'd like to honor her memory (she passed away when I was little), so I'd like to wear this dress...or at least some version of it. First off, it is several sizes too big, so it will be a job for the seamstress to make it fit (it's a size 10-12 right now, and I'm a size 2). Also, it is a Victorian style, with ruffles and lace and a high collar. Everything from the waist down (A-line, train) is beautiful, and it would have been exactly what I would have picked myself. However, all the lace and ruffles going on from the waist up is too much and is too costume-y. And the lace itches.

I have some ideas about how to re-style the dress--if the seamstress is good at his/her job, they should be able to do it--but my question is, how do I find someone that has this kind of expertise? A seamstress who specializes in wedding dresses, particularly re-styling older ones? If anyone else has had this same issue, let me know what you did.

I'll be getting married in the NW Ohio area, though I live in Missouri right now, so I'd plan to get the dress done during weekends I'd be home in Ohio.

just wanted to introduce myself. my name is shannon. ben and i have been together 3 years and have a beautiful 8 month old daughter :) we are getting married october 1st at the nederhauser hall at olander park. we are originally from toledo but live about half an hour north of detroit. so far i don't know a whole lot other than our photographer will be erin heckler photography, colors will be champagne and victorian lilac, i'm looking for an ivory gown, and i need to find good places for cheap flowers and cake! hoping to get some great ideas from you ladies!

Rehearsal- Caterer costs?

Hi. I know I'll have to call around, but I'm trying to figure out if I should rent a place and get a caterer for the rehearsal dinner or just go to a restaurant. I love the idea of renting a non-traditional space, but most of the places I've found are expensive. I would like to do a Mexican menu, nothing fancy, just standard food. Anyone used a caterer for similar purposes? Would you mind sharing what it cost you per person or total? Thanks ladies!

I have so many clothes that are in need of mending or alterations. Two huge bags full! I've ran into nothing but problems in trying to find a place to do it. I made an appointment with a place on Sylvania Ave, when I got there for my appointment they had closed early! (And had no parking, but that's a whole other issue) I went to the second place today and the women rolled her eyes when I walked in the door, while looking at one of my two bags of clothes. She then was very rude and finally just ended up telling me that she didn't have time to do them. Seriously, people could make a killing of me! I needed one of my dress' hemmed for my E Pics next week and it's just not looking good. So.....Who do you use for everyday clothing alterations?

Me and my husband got married May 9, 2009 and hired a Sylvania photographer (Stillfootage Photography). When meeting with the photographers and looking at their work, I was really pleased. They were a little bit pricey but I really liked their photography and the package I got had a lot in it. When we talked about ordering the package she told me that I would be having a different photographer then the owner of the business. I asked to see the work and was pleased with what she did so I was ok with it.

Our engagement session should have clued me in that this photographer wasn't the right fit for us. It didn't go bad and our photographer was extremely nice but I wasn't too pleased with our pictures and I was the one that had to constantly contact her about when the pictures were done. Overall, it wasn't horrible and I didn't mind too much at the time.

Come my wedding day and our photographer was great. Very friendly and all that. I was very happy with everything on my wedding day.

The problems started after the wedding day. I thought it took a long time to get the proofs of my images but it wasn't outrageously long. I believe I got the CD of pictures and image proofs around July. I had ordered with my wedding package three parent albums and a storybook album. I had to send in the picture numbers I wanted for the albums which I sent in around the middle of August.

I wasn't really told a time the albums would be done so called around October. At this time I was told it would take approximately 12 weeks from when I sent the picture numbers in. So around November and December I called a few times. Each time I was told that she would check the status of my albums and then call me or email me back. She never did. I've also tried calling multiple times throughout the beginning of this year. She usually doesn't answer and has not once called me back. We got a hold of her finally a couple weeks ago and she told us that she left a message on my phone (there was none from her on my phone) and that it would be done in a week and she would call. A week has come and gone and she still has not called back. I cannot get a hold of her by phone.

I've meant to go up to her office and confront her in person but I always have Natalie with me. I've filed a complaint with the BBB and will hopefully get good news from them. I'm so frustrated with everything going on with them and really just want my money back for the albums. Our photographer Susan was great but I'm really unhappy with the business.

So ladies...my FI works for a design company and they are working with local companies on designing logos and whatnot.

There is apparently a local company who manufactures vodka with specialty flavors. Get this: one of the flavors is Peanut-Butter Vodka!!! (Mix that with a little Godiva chocolate Liqoure and holy man!!!!)

He couldn't remember the name of the company, but he'll look into it at work today...I'll let you know when I find out more. This sounds like one local company I will be showing full support for!!! ;)

Hi- Just wondered if anyone on here has used this venue, specifically the Mount Vernon Room. We contracted for our wedding to be there on May 7, 2011, and are still undecided about which wedding package is the best deal overall. I'm looking into a bunch of different vendors for dj, cake, photography, etc., but it's hard to decide if I should buy those things separately or get them in a package. I don't want to skimp on quality, and I want to get the best deal. Anyone with any help?
