Good morning ladies!!! I am so glad it is Friday.
We went and saw Bridesmaids last night. I laughed so hard and I totally want puppy party favors now! lol

I got a nice surprise yesterday. Exquisite Bride called to say "It's here!". My dress is here...2 months earlier than expected. Woo-hoo!!! I can't wait to go see it. I won't start my fittings until August, but I really want to see it again. I ordered it at the Murraysville store, but they are transferring it to the Gibsonia location. It will be more convenient for me since they don't schedule alterations on the weekends. The woman I spoke with was really accomodating when I told her I want my fittings to be as close to my wedding as possible since I have been losing weight. (AW time - down 9 lbs now!!!)

We have a busy weekend. Tomorrow, DF and I are running a fundraising/memorial 5k. It is the Lisa Clay Styles Memorial Run in Mt. Lebanon. I am excited to be a part of that. Her death was such a senseless tragedy. It will be nice to help out for a cause she believed in. Sunday we will be at Kennywood for DF's work day there. Then we have our first "official" meeting with our pastor. I love our pastor!!! He is inspiring! After our meeting, we will stay and usher for the 6pm service.

No tasting for the caterer?? Is this unusual??

Our venue has an in-house caterer, and we just found out they don't do tastings! Not only was this something we were really looking forward to, but how are we supposed to decide what food we would like? The company said they would have the chef "describe" the food to us, and give us names of other brides who used them, but I don't think that's good enough. Is this typical?

So, this past weekend I flew into Pgh for the first time since September. I managed to meet with my florist and DJ, was fitted for my dress, and met the Msgr. marrying me. Thank God I had Emily! I honestly could not do this without her! I know it's early for vendor reviews, but it was such a great and productive weekend, I had to write this now.
I asked the DJ, and he said all of the communication with her has been super quick and very proffessional. I've been working with her since about august of last year. She has always answered my questions right away and made incredibly helpful suggestions, like serving Hors Devours when serving drinks.
PM me if you want her contact info. It is so worth it! She has me so spoiled right now!

Busy weekend ahead...

So girls, FI and I travelled four hours from Baltimore to the Burgh today to get ready for a busy weekend. Our bach parties are Saturday along with my shower. Also we are getting our marriage license tomorrow and I am getting my hair/makeup trials and my last dress fitting tomorrow!
I'll be back on Monday or Tuesday with pics of the weekend!!

I feel bad, but I have not been on in ages! Between ending the school year, packing up my classroom, moving, and last minute wedding planning it's been a busy 6 weeks!

I've posted about this before, but got little responses. Now that the big day is only 2 days away and the weather may not cooporate, I'm asking again.....Does anyone have good recs for indoor/covered photo sites around the Moon/Sewickley/Ambridge area?

So this is my first post and after having 4 different florists fall through, I need help. Does anyone know of a florist who will do some things outside of the box. I want trees and moss and yes, some flowers, but I want them live and eco-friendly. I cannot seem to find a florist in the Pittsburgh, Johnstown, Uniontown area that will do this. Anyone? My family is a pilots family and my fiance is going to be a pilot. I love all things romantic and vintage and am a painter as well. i wanted to do something different for our pittsburgh pa wedding reception which represented us both and allowed us to have a formal reception with both of our big families (keeping it under 250 will be tough!) I need to find an airplane hangar that would be fitting for our vintage aviation themed wedding. I want it to be lovely and need to also find some lovely people who would like to show off their vintage planes at my reception. Does anyone know of any locations near pittsburgh that would be good? Has anyone done this before? Will they rent me a Hangar? I have so many ideas and just as many questions. any input is appreciated! Thanks! all unique venue ideas Welcome!

transportation woes...

So my mother was put in charge of arranging transportation and we are now five weeks out and she still didn't do anything. i am really lost and ready to just take care of it myself, but don't know where to begin. You see, we only need transportation for four people from the hotel to the venue which is a twenty minute drive. so we don't need the typical four hour package. I don't know where to look or who to call. Help!!

Pittsburgh Food Trucks???

Okay, Fiance thinks I am crazy, but... I am always starving by the end of a wedding. The first thing I want to do is order room service or call a pizza place before they close if we're staying at a hotel that night! That being said, I thought it would be a really great idea to possibly have a food truck for the end of the night at our reception. Reception ends at 10pm and I thought it would be a fun surprise to have a food truck for the guests who are staying at the hotel (we have a ton of college friends coming). I don't even know if our venue would allow this to happen, but does anyone know of any food trucks in the area??

People who used etsy vendors (ash, gmc, Beth, etc) come in here!

Busy night last night – got home from work later than planned but was able to get some laundry done and work on the escort cards – actually all I did was figure out how to print them and DF took over!
Tonight we will be getting some yard work done.. ive badly neglected our plants and the weeds are getting out of control! Yuck!

I thought about ordering them from magnet street but it's kinda hard to find my color online and I'm not sure about the quality. I want a good stationer (I guess that's what it's called...) who is willing to sit down with me and work with my budget. Any suggestions?

OK so we looked at about a half dozen places for our wedding in the Penn Hills/Harmer area. Now we are checking out some other places. I have sent some inquiry emails to Holy Cross Banquet Hall, Edgewood Country Club, Seasons Reception at Comfort Inn, The Holiday Inn-North, Lindenwood golf course, and Valley Brook Country Club. Has anybody out there in the knottie world had any experience with any of those venues or reccomendations of places like it. We are looking all over the place, so any reccomendations will help. Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, my name is Melissa. I've posted a few times on this board, but haven't formally introduced myself. My fiancé Andy and I were engaged on April 9th and are very excited to be married! We met as a result of work. I applied for a part time job in college at the shop he manages. It’s a scuba shops and I had just come back from a yearlong study abroad trip in Australia where I learned to scuba dive. I thought it would be a great summer job while I finished up college. I applied, Andy was actually the one that interviewed me…and the rest is history! My mom loves to tell people that I travelled halfway around the world to meet someone that lived right around the corner.The engagement story goes like this: Andy just completed a training program for work for which he was in Malaysia for 2 weeks. I thought it would be fun to throw a dinner party in his honor at a local restaurant a few days after he got back. His family happened to be in town visiting his mom (she was in hospital as a result of a bad car accident in March – doing great now though!) and my mom and a bunch of our close friends all came out “to celebrate Andy”, or so I thought. Long story short, it turns out that he totally took advantage of my party planning. He got up to make a big speech about how everyone at the party had played an integral part in his career, whether they had been students, customers, etc (he is the manager and an instructor at the local SCUBA shop I teach). He starts at the opposite and of the table from me and works his way down. When he gets to me he goes on that he couldn’t have done anything he has accomplished without me and he loves me and all the cute stuff. He gets down on this knee and pulls out the ring. My heart was racing and I was in shock. My face turned all red and after I squeaked out a yes and apparently a “oh my God you’re really doing this!” I realized that everyone was watching me. It was an amazing way for him to do it because I didn’t know until afterwards that everyone at the table knew about it but me. He had already asked my mom’s permission, and some people had already even seen the ring. He totally pulled a big one over on me!We've been together for almost 5 years and it's about darn time we make it official. We picked our date and venue for February 9, 2013 at the Grand Hall at the Priory. Both the ceremony and reception will be there. We are taking advantage of the Winter White package that they offer. That is about all we have planned now. I have looked at some dresses at Alfred Angelo (definitely found a front runner). I have an appointment with Bridal Beginning in September as they are having a Jim Hjelm trunk show and I’d love to see those gowns in person. We are meeting with Kristy @ Limelight Images next month for a consult on wedding photography. I’m super pumped about that!I’m so excited about all these decisions, but it’s really stressful too. We have had a little bit of help from family, but we are doing the majority of it ourselves. That’s another reason I’m not too upset that we are planning for a 2013 wedding. More time to save!I look forward to getting to know all of you better and sharing our stories and experiences together. Thanks for letting me share!

- I got massive amts of bugbites at my friends wedding, and spent most of the weekend bathing myself in topical benadryl
- FI was here and we hung out, watched movies, and tried some new restaurants in the area
- Played trivia with some college friends last night, and we didnt do so badly
