Need a little help making this tactful. A girlfriend of mine from college sent me an email asking me if she could bring her kids to the wedding - she has FIVE! I was honestly surprised by the question as the invite was only addressed to her and her husband but I tried to send a tactful reply and said space is really limited, etc etc, and I thought the issue was done. Tonight I get an email that says to just put them down for FIVE people (because the baby doesn't need a chair!). I hate to sound rude here, but even at half price - it would cost me over $300 for her and her kids to attend our wedding, and I specifically didn't put them on the invite. What do i do? Do I email her back and point out that I said there wasn't room or do I just suck it up? I hate to say it but I'm not a kid person - we're having a nighttime wedding (7pm!) and the last thing I want are screaming babies. I'm so stressed with one month to go and now this! Help!

Hi ladies,I've been relentlessly stalking these boards for months (and have learned so much from everyone- big thank you to other Knotties!) but have rarely posted... mostly because I felt like an impostor since I actually live in San Antonio-- the wedding is in Austin, though. Anyway, I've noticed there have been a lot of brides popping up recently, and since I am getting ready to tie the knot on Oct. 24th I thought it might be time to give back and share the details on some of the vendors I borrowed from other knotties or discovered myself. I've tons of research trying to find quality vendors @ the most "fiscally responsible" (cheap) price possible :) So on that note:-Flowers- Rebekah from Glass Fountain. Her estimate easily came in at half of what the other florists were charging me, she doesn't at all mind working with a budget, and even though I know there have been concerns in the past, she's been super-responsive (actually, I am kinda the non-responsive deadbeat). I don't know what the finished product will look like yet, but she seemed to know what she was talking about.-Caterer- 2tarts. These are two sisters who just started out; they specialize in local/seasonal and also are great for vegetarians. The way they do their price structuring is a little odd ($200 for a tasting?!) but then their prices are so reasonable that it makes up for it. The tasting was delicious (ask to have their strawberry cupcakes with buttercream lime frosting on the menu!), and I hope it's as good on the big day-Hair & makeup- Brizy Tait ("Keep Austin Gorgeous")- her portfolio looks great and her prices are pretty good as well, but still haven't had a trial so can't give a final report.-Musician- we wanted something unconventional, and I am in love with our ceremony/cocktail hour musician, Brett Randell (you should be able to find him on Facebook). He has a great voice, he's extremely responsiveness, and he has been willing to learn several songs I wanted (Jason Mraz, Ben Harper) at a really great price. He's really good-looking too... not that it matters, right? :) As a side note, I posted an ad on Craigslist to find a ceremony musician, and had more talented people contact me than I knew what to do with (we ended up hiring another person for our rehearsal dinner just because).-Rehearsal dinner- Laguna Gloria is my favorite venue in Austin but it really wasn't in the budget; however, I am excited that we will be holding our RD at Mayfield Park right next door (lots of peacocks and waterlilies for the low, low price of $750). If we hadn't needed to confirm a venue for the wedding earlier, I would have considered them for the wedding. We are bringing in the Austin Barbecue Company to cater, and I have to say that David has been one of the most pleasant vendors I've encountered yet. Very responsive, follows up, and also is providing an incredibly amount of food at $10/head-Greenbelt DJ- I've read good reviews of him previously on the Knot board and my interactions with him have been nothing but positive, but I have yet to see him in action. That said, he has an online system that more or less allows you to design the playlist for the entire evening, so I just can't see how it could go wrong. -Photographer- If you have the $ to spare I would really recommend Bonnie Berry-- I think her photos are beautiful, she definitely knows what she is doing, and her prices aren't ridiculous (although not cheap either). Unfortunately we didn't have the money to spare, but I feel pretty good about the two photogs we are using. For the rehearsal dinner we are using Nessa Kessinger (would have used her for the wedding, but she was booked): http://www.nessakphotography.com/ I love what she can do with color and she is very new and therefore excellently priced. For the wedding we are using Lauren McGlynn: http://www.laurenmcglynn.com/enterHope that helps some new brides! Good luck and congrats on your engagements!

Hi ladies, A few of you might remember me - I'm the English Austinite (by blood I'll have you know!) who's been stalking around a year now, after helping a friend plan her wedding. So I just wanted to share that FFI (future FI lol) and I have been planning to visit Austin next summer but we didn't know when because the deal was we wanted to be engaged first so we could share the news with my grandmother, my Austin girlfriends and everyone at church, as well as scout a venue for a 2011 summer wedding. Well...FFI has recently told me that he has 400pounds saved (target 2000pounds for ring + wedding planning trip to Austin - not sure how much he's spending on which though and I'm happy to keep it that way) and he'd like to go in June!! I'm so stoked. To be fair, we're mostly going to go through the motions for fun of finding a venue as we have our heart set on an intimate wedding at the Four Seasons (he wants trees and water, I want hotel and central). We're gonna hire a car and check out Vintage Villas, Horseshoe Bay, and Villa Antonia, amongst others, just coz they're pretty. I have no idea whether he'll propose before we go, or while we're there or what but I can't wait. And I can't wait to get back to AUSTIN. We also want to have our engagements taken while we're there and I'm gonna go dress shopping with my grandmother because she was a seamstress and I'm the only girl in the family so it'll mean a lot to us both. Anyway, sorry about the AWing and the length of this post, I just had to share! Just wanted to let you Austin ladies know we're one step closer to descending on Austin with a bunch of Brits in summer 2011...watch out!!

We are planning to have two weddings, an American traditional in DC and a Chinese/Vietnamese wedding in Austin. I know his family has big expectations and I definitely don't want to disappoint anyone or leave out important details specific to the culture.
Hey ladies... I cannot believe the big day has come and gone. You hear it a million times but it really does go by so insanely quick. I so wish to have had a few more hours of it. I can't emphasize it enough, DO EVERYTHING YOU WANT NO MATTER WHAT! So many people told me I was nuts when I wanted an array of things like a lighting company and a candy buffet, bagspipe or a photobooth. I especially got teased when I told a few people (it was an overall surprise) that we were having dancers perform while everyone was eating. But it was all AWESOME! Not trying to pat myself on the back but so many people came up to me and told me how it was the best wedding and how much fun they had. So all the things people didn't understand, came together for them at the wedding and they loved it all. The day was magical. 2 mins before the outdoor ceremony started, this front rolled in and reduced the temperature by 10 degrees (can you believe that in this Texas heat) and made all of my OOT guests so comfortable. I didn't sweat at all when I thought it was inevitable. And because the sun was slightly covered by the clouds, no squinting in the pictures!! It was just a magical sign for me that we are so meant to be. (sounds cheesy, I know) Anyway, I just wanted to share with all the future brides to enjoy your day. Even when you so want it over with, push through. It really is all worth it. And whatever little touches are important to you, do it. Find a way and do it. People will recognize it. I really like my HUSBAND (hahaha--i'm getting used to that) and I were fully represented by the uniqueness of our wedding. Okay, I'm done rambling. FIrst thing I did when I got home today was put my dress on one more time. (slightly difficult because of the 5lbs I put on from the honeymoon) I wish it wasn't over but that's life. So enjoy your day and make sure you take it all in as much as possible. Okay, I'm done now. If you go to www.thanksforthememories.biz, click on "view events", we're Kevin and Jennifer Four Seasons. You'll also see my bridals under "Jennifer Bridals". If you care to check it out, there it is. I'll get my vendor reviews asap. Thanks for reading this and good luck to you all in all your planning. Enjoy it all as it only happens once. (it better! ;-)

FI and I currently live separately (call us old fashioned!) and so are trying to find a place to live when we get married. We're having a bit of a struggle. Where do you all live, or have lived, that you love? Area's not a huge deal - we do like central or south. And we have pets...Also, isn't there a knottie that does real estate/apartment locating?TIA

Hello! FI's niece is the Flower Girl for our wedding- she's 9... so she's dancing the line between Flower Girl and Junior Bridesmaid. I was wondering where y'all got your flower girl dresses or junior bridesmaid dresses from. I was looking online at david's bridal and alf angelo, but they're around $100... and I don't want her parents to have to spend that much on a dress that their daughter is only going to wear once. Any ideas?
