I went to Aveda today for a hair consultation and to test out their makeup. Unfortunately, yep, my skin is super-itchy and red now. They said that even though it's "natural", it's not hypo-allergenic because there are perfumes and stuff in it. So... I'm not sure what to do now. I am still getting my hair done there. Should I take them my Clinique and have them apply that, go somehwere else (time issue) or find someone to come to me? Anyone have recommendations?

So I am making a cake card box... well I have pretty much made it, I just need to add the dark blue ribbon to the top layer like I did w/ the bottom layer and add flowers or something for the "topper".. my question is, does it look dumb w/ only having 2 layers?

What's the big deal about handwriting address on invitations?

Who cares? I couldn't tell you, out of the last 5 weddings I've been to, who hand wrote or didn't hand write their addresses.

Hello,
This is my first post here. I live in NYC and I'm thinking of having my wedding in Houston which is where ALL my family lives. I am however seeing that most of the venues are more in the Northside of Houston. Is that correct? Any help getting any venues in the southern part of Houston? My family lives on Beechnut near Highway 6 so anything within a 30-45min drive is good with me.
I'd like a garden ceremony with an indoor reception. Not too pricey obviously. Any and every help you give would be appreciated. Thanks.

Natural Engagement Locations

I had been driving myself crazy trying to select a location when I remembered about Camp Strake. I helped with the Cub Scouts camp there about two years ago or so. Fi's nephews are in Cub Scouts and they needed the help.

It is the perfect location. We decided on a wooded and natural area, but I wanted some fun and quirky pictures too. Camp Strake has a pirate ship and all sorts of fun things there. So it was..perfect...was...

The problem is that we aren't sure that they will open it for us to get in to do engagement pictures. Fi is an eagle scout, so that might help. However, they haven't gotten back to us. So I am starting to worry...and realizing I need a back up plan because the pictures have to be taken by august.

So the question is...does anyone know of any other wooded areas? I mean a park will do. I just really want a forest like background. Any suggestions?

Also, we live in The Woodlands. We prefer to stay some what close, but we will do what we have to.

Hi, I've been lurking for months, but I just recently got engage. I was wondering if you ladies can help me out. I'm planning on an outside ceremony and indoor reception for April 2011 with approx 150 guests.

Here are some of the venues I've been looking at. If any of you had any experiences with these venues please do share.

Petroleum Club (this club doesn't offer outside ceremonies, but I still like it.)

Does anyone know anything about Snaptacular Photos? I love their photos but I can't get a response from them through email or by phone to set up an appointment. I've been trying for a week...sent multiple emails and left messages. Is this normal or should I forget them?

The thing is I love their work on the website and they include a photobooth for under $3K.

I know it's not TP day, but I really, really want to TP someone right now.

It's been almost a week and I have not gotten my refund back from my crappy former venue. Um hello....I could use that to BOOK A NEW VENUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm also really mad because alot of venues I've checked into don't have my date available and now I've had to email the vendors I've booked to see if they have other dates available. All of this because "someone" couldn't keep their calendar straight.

Ok, I think I'm done. I just needed to vent.....whew!

For all the new brides here are some reviews of local Bridal Salons that I visited in the past two days:

Houston Bridal Gallery: They have some well known designers. But I just didn't find any gowns that were unique.

Mia Couture: High end gowns and pretty good service. Also, everything is white so it's really hard to really see the gowns.

Winnie Couture: Love, love, love this store! Bought my dress there, and got 25% off in a sale that goes through tomorrow. Also, dress photos came out well because of the dark walls which provide a nice contrast the white dress. Service was EXCELLENT!

So my FH and I have visited about 20 different places and have narrowed it down to two places. Can anyone give me any information about these two places? They both are on different parts of town (which is not a problem) and are around the same price. Shrley Acres has everything included except photographer and car. San Luis has a $5000 food min, honeymoon suite, and car. We would need to get the flowers, dj, and cakes. If anyone has been to a wedding in either of these places please let me know.
