1. There was a lot of beautiful things about my wedding- every vendor I hired did an amazing job. Especially the limo....who I found on Craigslist for $400 for the ENTIRE night (5:30- 12:30)
2. Now let me complain- this is the unexpected that you can not plan for and do not think would actually happen. My bridesmaids...my SISTERS. First, to get hair and make up done- were 30 minutes late to pick me up because she had to get gas. We get there and of course run over the time because we were 30 minutes late getting there. This leaves us rushing to meet the limo at 5:30. In the car I am freaking out because of how late we were. This is when the late sister (the one who had to get gas) tells me her dress is at her house (NOT where the limo was). THe other sister then tells me she has to poop, shave her legs and get her kids ready. Yes- I am serious. So when we get to the house the limo is waiting. I am in the limo waiting forEVER for all of them to get there stuff together. MEanwhile..the wedding starts at 7 it is 6:15. The limo still has to go get my fiance and his groomsmen. We were supposed to be taking pictures from 6-7 so we could head out to the reception directly after the ceremony. We only had 8:30- midnight for the reception. Well- the bridesmaids got all of their pictures taken. The groom arrived right at 7. I have hardly any getting ready shots..no dress hanging or anything...my mom was not even in the dressing room because I had to rush so much getting dressed. And we had to stay an hour later taking pictures because of the time we did not get to use- 6-7. This cut an hour out of our reception. Our reception ended up only being from 9:30- midnight. A BLUR.
Okay..heres the best part. I paid for everything for my wedding. EVERYTHING. I got no money from anyone. So when we are leaving- I see all of our leftover wine sitting next to the door for us to take home. John and I need to get in the limo to get home so we make our exit. While John's brother is loading up the van with our wine my FAMILY (yes those pesky sisters and their husbands) start grabbing the wine. I saw cases of wine sitting there when we left. Johns family brought in three bottles. John;s brother said that before he could set a case down my family had grabbed all the wine out of it. The best part..when I called and screamed at everyone for takling the wine...I am the bad guy for ruining their good time. Actually, in my family I am still the bad guy for getting mad at them for taking the wine. Even my grandma says that "You would have done the same thing"...Um, no I wouldn't. Did I mention..I paid for that wine with my credit card...and no one helped me out???
Now that I am done venting.....know that you CANNOT plan for everything. No matter how prepared you are....not everyone will be as prepared. I needed to vent her because I do not think that anyone else can understand like a bride can.

Bach Party

Okay so I'm planning a bachelorette party for tomorrow night. I know it's kind of late but the bride just got to town Monday and we weren't sure if we have time to throw one.

I have her almost the whole day because the boys are going golfing in the morning.

All I have is Mani/Pedi and dinner. Plus we have to pick up a bridesmaid from the airport tomorrow as well. There is only 4 maybe 5 of us going. My big problems is the MOH is only 20 though she looks way older. I wanted to take her to Howl at the Moon. It's where I went for mine and I just think its a lot of fun but its 21 and up. Is there any fun places yall could think of?? It doesn't need to be a bar or anything.

Once I am done with a category and all stuff has been added, I will close the thread. Once the thread is closed you will not be able to add to the discussion anymore. This is to make things easier on me so I dont miss anybody and also so that I dont have to keep going back to check on them. Once the bio is complete and published I will then ask for additions to be added and from there on out, it will be a monthly thing. So if you book your caterer and it's not on the list, please wait until I ask for updates to let me know that you have somebody new that needs to be added. :)

We use to do this a while back. We would have a siggy challenge each month (Ex: flowers, e-pic, honeymoon, dress, shoes, etc.)

I think we should bring it back! What should we do for JUNE?

Hello to all the newbies and oldies! It has been so long since I have been on here but man life has been crazy! I hate to be that bride that asks one question and then never comes back on so for the next 17 days I will try and get on and I will do reviews after the wedding.

I have a question about getting my wedding dress cleaned. For my bridals last weekend my photographer wanted me to jump on a trampoline so I did and it was totally worth it but the train of my dress now has huge black converse shoe prints all over it. Does anyone know of a cleaners that is not $100 or more to get my dressed cleaned? I am really scared to take it to a place like comet cleaners. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I guess I should intro myself for the new knotties. I'm Melisa. I am getting married in 17 DAYS! I was just hired last week for my first teaching job so I am now a first grade teacher! I have been on the boards since October of 08 but have been off for about 9 months. Betweem trying to graduate, wedding stuff, my grandpa being very ill, and my mom being diagnosed with breast cancer I just did not have time to get on here anymore.

My friend from highschool Megan from Greathouse Photography was in town from Odessa and she tagged along too. Minister - Question

So - I am booking at Safari Ranch for ceremony and reception. I need to find a minister/someone to perform the ceremony on my own. Any tips on how to go about this? Jason and I are not Christian. (We believe in "a" god or a higher power, but do not subscribe to any one religion). Does anyone know how this works then?

So, I have an eyebrow piercing. I had wanted it since I was 15, I got it a week after my eighteenth birthday, and have had it for almost 4 years. I love it and had never thought of it in regards to the wedding. But one of my bridesmaid brought up the question as to whether or not I was going to have it in the day of the wedding.

At the moment I think I am going to keep it in because it is a part of me, and it super easy to photoshop out of pictures if I don't like the image it portrays.

Have any of you had this same issue? Did you decide to leave your body jewelry in as well or did you use a retainer? Input on the issue?

RD - Los Cucos

Has anyone used Los Cucos on Westheimer for their rehearsal dinner? I just came back from talking with the manager there and their prices are VERY reasonable and within my budget. Problem is my RD will be on a Saturday night and I'm concerned with the parking (shares same lot with nearby businesses). Did anyone have any problems with parking or am I overly concerned? Also how was your experience using them?

Also if you have any other suggestions for rehearsal dinner venues. I'm looking to spend less than $12 pp and looking for something inner loop.

I'm thinking of having my reception at the Bell Tower on 34th. Does anyone know a pretty methodist church in the near vicinity (or a non-Methodist church that allows non-members)...other than St Pauls and the downtown Methodist church? I know the bell tower has a chapel but my dress is kind of made for a bigger place than that...

didnt want to take over the post :) Yes I have the G1 and Im able to post. But i had to download a new browser. The one with the phone would never let me post. In the app store there is a browser call Opera Mini Beta. It goes super fast once you get used to it. Basically it loads the page in a smaller format and you cloick the page to scroll in. Im able to post and everything in decent time!

Revamping the Houston Bio

OK ladies, I'm totally redoing the Houston Bio. First I am going to ask you ladies to pitch in your input for the different categories, then I will take what is left from the old bio and add them in. Like TxSun did every month, I will ask for people to let me know if something has changed, or something to be added. This might take me a couple of days to get going so please be patient! :) I'm hoping this will help newer brides look towards a venue that they never knew about before.

To the old regs, if you know of a venue that one of the older brides used and they dont actively post anymore, feel free to add them in as well. If the people or place was awesome, we dont want the newer brides to miss out!!!!

I'll go category by category to try and organize things where it will be easy to add in. And I'll hopefully be able to put up a few a day. Like I said, be patient with me please! I dont get to knot at work! :)

I have a vintage lace veil that I am planning on wearing for my wedding. It was originally white, but it has yellowed with age. It's not too bad, but I need to find someone reputable who will clean it for me. It's all lace and a family heirloom, so I need to take it somewhere reputable who works with cleaning fine fabrics. Any recommendations for Houston area cleaners? I live in SW area, but not limited to this area only. Thanks.

OK so I'll admit, I haven't been a very active moderator here lately. But things are going to change around here. We lost a lot of wonderful ladies due to the layout changes but we've also gained some new active engagements who are planning their wedding. The board seems to be more and more active everyday which is wonderful!

We used to have a Houston Bio that I am going to start a new one so it's a one stop place for new brides to go to that is easier to get ideas. Once I get the basics set up, I'll start a post per genre that will be added and old brides and ones that are currently planning can add who they used on there.

If there is anything else you would like to see, start a post! Don't be shy! If you're a newbie, introduce yourself and jump into the planning. We are here to help! Just a reminder also that you can start post that aren't wedding related! Everyday we had a different topic and some of the girls made great friends during all of this. :)
