Vendor Review: Grand Events party rentals (Bellevue)

We made the right decision by hiring Grand Event Rentals for our wedding ceremony (Seattle) and reception (Mercer Island). Our representative, Kevin Rufert, did a great job in keeping up with the constant changes to our orders. As our guest count fluctuated, so did the amount of equipment we required. Kevin promptly issued me a new quote each time we made a change, which helped us out immensely. They delivered everything on time, which was crucial to our plans. In the early stages Kevin actually came out to our venue in person to help use measure and strategize over what size/shape tables to use and how many – that was also a huge help. Their delivery drivers were also friendly and hard working. Thank you for everything!

We cannot say enough good things about Lorie Britton at Ring-Around-The-Rose. The floral arrangements she provided for both our wedding ceremony and reception were more beautiful than we ever could have imagined! Lorie’s attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile were outstanding. She was even able to track down some very specific, hard to find flowers that we had requested at the last minute all the way from Thailand! Simply, in a word, Lorie is “Amazing.” We will be recommending her to our friends and family for the rest of our lives (our wedding was the 3^rd Brewer wedding that she’s done flawlessly…after seeing her work on the first two, we couldn’t help but hire her for ours)! You are such a sweetheart, Lorie. Thank you!

Can someone who has done this explain to me in detail everything I need to do to get it done? Like, what do I need, how do I check to make sure the state thinks I'm married, etc. Thanks so much!

Hello everyone, I'm finally back! The wedding was wonderful, a few snags and a few of my visions that didn't turn out so well, and some weren't done the way they should have... but all in all it was a great day. The honeymoon was amazing but we're so happy to be home! Here are a few pics if you haven't already seen them on FB!

Introduction and a venue question

Hi all. I've been lurking for the two weeks since I got engaged, but thought I should take the leap to post.

Seattle bride, planning a "Big Fat Jewish Wedding" for March or May. My guy proposed on Tu'B'Av (the Jewish Valentines Day) at the water tower in Volunteer Park. I was surprised by the timing, but not surprised as we've been together 4.5 years.

Now we are working on a venue.

We need to bring in our own (Kosher) caterer to any venue we choose, so all the places with in-house caterers are out. Ceremony may be at the Synagague (not sure yet) but would like the reception to be somewhere else. Though we are open to a ceremony and reception in the same venue.

Total guest list right now we are estimating inviting 250 and having 180-200. Would like to pare it back to 150 attending, but not sure about the politics of that.

Anyway, other than the Urban Hortocultural Center and Pickering Barn in Isaquah, any suggestions?? Our favorite resturant is in Renton, and so we'd be open to a place on the South side so they could cater, but then it would have to be a ceremony site too.

We are low key folks in our late 30's so our desired effect is big family friendly party.

til I'm not living in sin anymore. How cool is that. But.. it seems like the more I check off my check list the more I add!!! Anyone else have that happen? I think I just need to stop giving in to the cool new ideas I come up with. The big things that still need to be done 1/Honey needs to pic out gear for himself and the boys and 2/I need to make a decision on the flowers. We've got a dj in the works and we've decided on a baker so that took a lot off the to do list.

I think I just became a destination bride...

So FI and I have been stressing about the whole wedding thing because we also have to worry about a K1 visa (he's a UK citizen), which means we don't know when we'll be able to get married :( We know it should be through within 8 months or so (fingers crossed), so we're now planning to get married in Hawaii, Maui specifically! We've gotten the okay from both families that they'll travel and we've picked a week. It's exciting, but a little overwhelming! Just wanted to share :)

I'm so happy the weather turned out to be cooperative for the engagement session yesterday. Poor FI apparently didn't realize what an engagement session was all about, lol. He was a trooper even though he was expecting a quickie portrait session. Now I can't to see the pictures!! I'm so glad we went with our photgrapher. It's a husband and wife duo and they were really good at directing us when we had NO clue what to do, lol. I'm excited to see the different shots from the two perspectives, I'm really hoping that there will be some natural/candid shots, as those are always my favorites.

I want to see them now!! haha.

88 Keys Seattle~Warning for Bachelorettes

I had my bachelorette party at 88 Keys Saturday night. I expected to end up on stage. I did not expect a lap dance from one of the singers and getting a pitcher of ice water dumped on my head. This was later followed up by our table getting sprayed with a beer from the same singer. He dumped a can of whipped cream on another bride-to-be later in the evening. I enjoy getting messed with and I'm a good sport but don't ruin my hair and cause my BM's to have to get their clothes dry cleaned. We had fun but it was still annoying since our waiter had no compassion "there's nothing I can do, he pays my bills". nice...

I came back from FI's cousin's wedding in Long Island. And it was soooooo not formal! FI fit in fine with khakis and a dark button up shirt.

Here is a photo of a group of the Bride's friends:

Note: the bald guy and the guy in the middle wore JEANS! And the guy on the far right wore white shorts.

I think this wedding was a rarity, because there were a LOT of people with artistic backgrounds (dancing, singing, even 1 person in Lion King on Broadway!).

I had a fantastic time at the winery wedding. The food was super tasty (TONS of hor dourves and great buffet), they had a great beer selection (which I was worried about since I don't drink wine and the wedding was at a winery), and the cake was perfect (moist and not too sweet)! Colors were black and white, and the flowers were red roses and sunflowers (the only colors I saw at the wedding). And the dancing at the reception was craaa-zay, but I attribute that to all the trained dancers in attendance.

six weeks early, they called me today so i picked it up after work :)
I had the whole place to myself to try it on again and thankfully it fits and is not too short (ordered it 2 sizes smaller than store's sample)so thank god. Will just have to put in the bustle and do the sweetheart neckline... now i gotta find a seamstress..

We got married on July 25th, and my parents are throwing a second reception for us in the midwest for the rest of our family and friends who couldn't make it out here for the wedding. It's on September 25th. My hubby is going to wear the shirt and vest he wore in the wedding with dress pants, but no jacket. I would like to wear something CASUALLY bridal...like a cute, offwhite sundress or something. I know these kinds of dresses are rapidly disappearing this late in the season. Anyone have ideas of where to go to look for something like this?
