quick question. i am getting lazy and i don't want to make an escort card for every person. if there are couples, do you think it is ok if I just write: Jon & Julie or do you think it needs to say Jonathan & Julie Smith? Our wedding is a fun, not so formal, summer wedding. The escort cards will be bright blue and green. WDYT?? Single people will have their first and last name.

I have two friends getting married on a super short timeline. One is getting married August 14th, the other Sept. 18th. Besides printing at home, where are some fast sites to get invites? I mentioned Costco and tinyprints/wedding paper divas to them. Any other suggestions?

Dress Question

Alright ladies, I know I've said before that I've had some second thoughts about my dress, but I'm REALLY having second thoughts about my dress. I tried it on tonight, just to see if I was thinking clearly about it and when I put it on, it hit me that it's just not what I am picturing for our day. Plus, the holes for my arms are lace and it's super itchy and I dodn't know how I can get it fixed. It feels a little juvenile and not as sophisticated as I want. I think I bought it in the excitement of a new engagement and not thinking clearly.

I don't where to start looking again. I tried on a few dresses at the wedding shows and then at DB... which is where I bought it from. I'm a size 16 - 18, so I need to go somewhere that sells plus size dresses. I'm looking to stay under $1,000.

Any suggestions? Or any advice that would sway me to keep it?

Can you guys recommend a jeweler that can create a new custom peice out of vintage jewelry? I have my grandmothers wedding ring and a couple small diamonds from DH's Grandmother's ring I want to reinvent into a peice I would actually wear.

Dress alterations are complete and it's in my closet!

Our wedding isn't until next May, but I can't help but want to get everything done NOW, lol. I'm DIYing as much as possible, and I want to get started on all of the various projects. Part of me feels like it's waaaay too soon to be doing all of this, but the other part wants to get as much done this summer as possible (before school starts up again for me in August).

I got engaged in Jan. and my fiance and I wanted a long engagment, We just started shopping for venues for a july 2011 wedding and my Dad drops the bomb... He has Cancer. He starts chemotherapy next week and we are devastated! The last thing i want is for him to have to worry about how to pay for a wedding when he may not be able to work at all, and for the two of us to pay for the kind of wedding we were planning on having would result in a great amount of credit card debt, something we refuse to do!!

I dont hate the idea of a small wedding. But my question is... How cheap is it to have a last minute destination wedding with with 14 quests (our family)?

Is it selfish of me to keep planning a wedding, or should i postpone?

Does anyone have any cheap wedding Ideas?

The most important thing is that i get to marry the man of my dreams, that my Dad is able to come to the wedding, and that I can to it on as much of a budget as possible!!! Please someone HELP!!!

Birdcage veils?

SO I absolutely love the blusher style birdcage veil. I think it would go with my dress, and we are having a vintage / rustic / eco theme, so I am pretty sure it would go with the wedding. Here's the deal though, all the pictures I have seen that look amazing are with updo's. I have been growing my hair out for over a year, and really have my heart set on having it 1/2 down, like the one below.

Do you guys think it will go with a birdcage veil?

I finalized the seating chart and made all of the escort cards and other signs this weekend! I hate cutting card stock, but I enjoyed adding the bling! I also cleaned out the containers that I'm using for the candy display.

I paid off the photographer and flower bills last week! Tomorrow, I need to finalize the cake.

Next weekend, I need to start organizing everything so that everything wedding related is in one place. I'm afraid that I'm going to forget something!

I can't believe it's almost here! I can't wait!!

I'm designing my own invites but am researching where to have them printed. I need help! I want the invites to be embossed, so that you can see and feel the indentation of the print in the paper. I don't know whether to use a letterpress service or a wedding invite business like "All About Weddings." Or, if this is do-able on a Gocco and if so, does anyone have one I can borrow?

It's a really simple job, I don't want any design on it, just the text embossed. What did you do?

*ETA: I actually meant "debossing" as opposed to embossing.

I am also wondering why I ever thought having a big wedding was a good idea. We could have saved a alot of money, gone in front of a judge and gotten the same result. Went out to Ikea today and got my vases and tealight holders for the reception. Also got all the ribbon I need for the wish tree and programs. Met with my DOC at the venue and went over details, including timing the walk from the reception locale to the ceremony site. Bought the cupcake liners for my aunt who's baking the cupcakes. Figured out the set up of the ceremony chairs in the park too. Found out that my favors are on their way, should be delivered tomorrow, and I now have everything for my BM gifts. Whew!

This is actually my first post!!! I respond and lurk a lot on here, but really just HAVE to mention this:

So last night I went and got lash extensions on by my make up artist (for my wedding) Erica with Make up by Erica. (www.ericamadera.com)

Anyways, I have had lash extensions before, 4 years ago, and I liked them but they weren't worth the money at the time. Well, now that Im getting married, and I want to look my best, I thought I would try it again with Erica. (Last time I went to someone else random in Bellevue)

Seriously, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM! They blew me away!!! She got every lash and the best part, the Price!!! The place in Bellevue was charging $250 for your first set and $60 for the fills.

Erica charges $175 for the first set AND it includes your first fill!!!!

Also, if you refer a friend that books, you get another fill for free! Seriously... its totally worth it if you were thinking of getting lash extensions for your wedding. Also, its awesome cause its like you have mascara on all the time, so you can look fresh faced throughout your whole honeymoon without mascara!

So I got a called from my uncle from the east coast telling me him and his wife and 2 kiddos are not coming to the wedding. The reason: my mom does not want them there because my step-dad ( who is not coming to the wedding) will get mad. Not a good way to start a Friday morning and the other side of me which says it will save us money.

I am stuck in between this and must talk to my mom about this matter. She can call me and tell me that instead of my uncle. sigh
