I would prefer to have a DJ at our wedding but my fiance and Dad both want a band, so I am looking into both options. If we do go the band route, I definitely want a group that can play a wide variety of current music (e.g., Black Eyed Peas). Does anyone have recommendations from the MIlwaukee/Madison/Chicago area?

Also, our rehearsal dinner venue fell through so my future in-laws are looking into other places and wanted our input. I've never been to the Iron Horse but it seems like it would fit the vibe we are going for and the number of people we are going to have. Does anyone have any experience with Iron Horse as a rehearsal dinner restaurant?

Thanks for the help!

Any brides planning their wedding in Green Bay stay away from Superior Sound Entertainment...Guys name is Bronson Smith, he is the owner. We hired him for our wedding and it was terrible service. It all started the day before the wedding...I get a phone call from the DJ around 3pm that day stating that the song he downloaded for the mother/son dance was un-usable and he "could not" find a usable copy. So I asked what I was supposed to do (when he had 30 days to download and test out all the songs to be sure they worked!) and he told me that my FMIL needed to choose a different song. I had called one of my bridesmaids and they found the song online and had it burned to a disc in about 10 minutes, so obviously the DJ didnt try very hard to find it. So that was the day before... Now at the reception it all started off great, he played nice dinner music, no biggie. Then when we were all getting ready to be announced to go to dinner he snapped at me about what microphones we should be using for speeches and everything...I mean cmon its a stupid microphone, but he got snippy with me...the bride... Then I found out he yelled at one of our groomsmen for no reason. I'm pretty sure he played the wrong song for the grand march too. He also yelled at my Dad because he was "standing too close to the speaker and blocking the sound". And the rest of the night he was outside smoking. I stood at the DJ stand for a very, very long time trying to request a song and finally gave up and walked away as he was nowhere to be found.
Dont get me wrong, I still had an awesome time, but just a fair warning to all you other brides out there...

Sorry this might be long but I have to get it out. Here I go. So it's 11 days before our wedding and we have a 2000 balance with our hotel that my future MIL was supposed to take care of. I asked her this Monday because I was starting to get worried that we still didn't have the money from her and she finally sent me a text Monday night saying she couldn't come up with it. If I would have known I had to budget more money for this wedding I would have but she told us not to worry this whole time. My DF just found a job after being laid off since January so we have been struggling to pay for the wedding and didn't want to call it off because we knew he would eventually go back to work. But I have maxed out credit cards, spent all my student loan money for this huge wedding that I didn't need in the first place. I wanted a small romantic wedding that we could afford but people kept reassuring me that it would get paid for. I had to call my mom balling my eyes out and ask for the money which she had no problem loaning me. My mom at the beginning of this said she would either give us money for the wedding or pay for our honeymoon so we took the honeymoon. I can't even bare to look or talk to his mother right now. I told DF that I would be cordial to her at the wedding but I seriously can't see us ever having that MIL - DIL relationship. I am so angry. I won't let it ruin my wedding day but I can't stand to even look at her. Any advice would be lovely.

Hi ladies! I'm from the Twin Cities in Minnesota, but my fiance has a very promising interview in Eau Claire this coming week. We booked a night at Metropolis and are going to spend the remaining time after the interview looking at apartments, townhomes, houses, and trying to get to know the city. I'm almost positive he'll get the job, so I was just wondering, is it really nice in Eau Claire? I've heard it's really nice, but nothing specific. Does anyone go to the school? I'm going for Elementary Education and just applied to the college just in case he gets the job. Just wanted to know people's input on Eau Claire for living :)

I have read some awful scary stories about things not showing up on their wedding day and the lim0 and DJ are the scariest ones for me. Has anyone heard of Abracadabra Limo? Everything seems fine and his deposit is pretty low, web site looks good, and he always answers his phone. I'm just really nervous something major is going to go wrong because I am looking for deals. He is still more than I wanted to pay but cheaper than a lot of other limp companies! Any suggestions would be awesome our wedding is in Janesville, WI

I got a quote for alterations on my dream dress from Robbins Alterations in Wauwatosa. The dress is a sample so it needs quite a bit of work done (taking it from size 10 to size 6, pressing, replacing the zipper, etc) and was given a quote of $630. Seems awfully high for alterations, considering it doesn't need to be hemmed

What kind of quotes did you guys get for alterations, or how much did you pay? The dress is a sample so I'm getting it for a great bargain, but the alterations are more than I expected. Mary from Robbins came highly recommended, and I don't know if I could get it cheaper by going elsewhere.

I have not yet purchased the dress because I wanted an alterations quote first.
