Wondering if anyone knows of any places in or near the Stoughton area. We are looking to have our reception at the Heights Event Center there in town and can have our ceremony there if we like but are looking at other places as well. We are getting married at the beginning of May so we would like a place that we could get married inside if need be or if the weather is nice enough, outside. Any thoughts would be helpful!

We are from kenosha but will be getting married in Franklin Park, right near O'hare Airport. I posted in Chicago's board too, but I thougt I would try here too!

I am looking for an officiant bad.

We already have our ceremony picked out and we are desperately looking for an officiant. We are at the point where we are not very picky, we just really would like someone who is willing to perform the ceremony that we have designed, we are 100 percent sure this is the ceremony that we want with little or no deviation. It is a more secular ceremony and we are not necessarily looking for a preist/reverend/pastor etc. We would like someone who is down to earth.

PLEASE, DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS???

I figured rather than taking up an entire unrelated thread I'd just start a new one :)

We are getting married in the auditorium and having the reception there on January 8th, 2011. I love it. I'm super excited about the whole thing. And Debbie at the center has been great to work with! It was the only place we looked at, and we knew right away that it was perfect for us. Especially since the food is so well priced (IMO) compared to some other locations I looked into.

We are DIY a lot of stuff, so it's really nice that we can get in there a day early to put together centerpieces, and other decorations.

When is/was your wedding? Are you getting married in the auditorium too?

Has anyone had or having their weddings at either of these places? I need to deside soon and I have no idea what to do! I live in Kenosha and the UW Parkside ballroom is more affordable and i can bring in a cake that my grandmother will make. Stoeny creek (Wausau) Is where I grew up and I can get married in my childhood church except its much more expensive and I can't bring in the cake. If you have been to these places, how didyou like it and what didnt you like? How was it working iwth their wedding coordinators? Thanks for any helpyou can give!

I guess I'm having sticker shock after looking at the styles I like (all long because it's a winter wedding). I'm trying to pick a dress they could get shortened if they wanted and wear again, but I feel like long dresses are pretty hard to wear again and I guess that price just seems a little big too me.

a little story....

I went to try on dresses the other day. one woman looked overwhelmed at my size from the moment I walked in, she put a dress on me that didnt fit. She was so worried about the dress that she practically ripped it off me while standing on the little platform in the changing area. So I was standing there in only my bra and underwear. I was so red in the face. I asked her if I could put it back on to go get my clothes... no she left me there almost naked and went to get my stuff for me.

I asked to work with someone else.. went much better after that.

Hello ladies! I just wanted to share a great find to all of you still looking for a reception venue in the Milwaukee area. I have been helping my best friend plan her wedding and this past weekend we had an appointment at Klemmer's Banquet Center and found her reception site. First of all, for what she is getting, the prices were extremely low! She is only paying $15.95 per person for a family style dinner! We have looked at ALOT of places and have found many hidden charges like room charges, linen charges, china charges, etc., but Klemmer's has none of these. Their grand ballroom was gorgeous and plently large enough for the 300 people my best friend is expecting. We dealt with Wendy their banquet manager who was so enjoyable to work with and very accommodating. I wish I would have known about them when I was planning my wedding! Hopefully this helps some of you still looking for a reception site!

Gift for Groom on Wedding Day

I'm trying to come up with a gift for FI to open on the morning of our Wedding. I think the "typical" groom's gift is usually a nice watch, cuff links, etc...

These are great ideas, however, FI does not wear a watch and just recieved a nice pair of cufflinks from the last Wedding he stood up in. I was thinking of doing something a bit more non-conventional like an I-Phone, but that requires changing his service and seems to be too complicated.

Anybody have any good ideas that they can share? With roughly 5 months to go, I still have a lot of time, but if it's on the pricey side, I'd like to keep my eye out for deals/sales for th next few months.

Okay, so last night I had a horrible dream that our photog didn't show up, my DJ sucked and my ring started falling apart during the ceremony. Ugh. LOL Guess I'm getting 1-year-to-go anxiety. LOL

Which brings me to something that has been stressing me out to no end lately - FLOWERS.

I am not a flowery girl, unless they are in my garden outside. So I want to just say NO FLOWERS. It would save us so much money and it's one less thing to worry about. We're going to have candles everywhere anyways for the reception, so why spend all that money on flowers? Ugh. But then I think - okay, the parents need them and the groomsmen. I need to come up with an alternate to flowers somehow.

Any suggestions?

Ok, I'm totally torn on whether we should register for China... I have family and friends on both sides of the fence on this one. A lot of people say I will regret it if I don't register for it...but then a lot of people are also saying that it's a waste unless you know you are going to use it.

Can anyone tell me if Wisconsin will allow me to move my maiden name to a second middle name using my marriage certificate?

I have read that some states only allow a change to the last name.

Also - Our marriage cert lists me with my maiden name - is this sufficient for changing my name with the SS office and the DMV?

Okay ladies, I need some advice. My fiance and I, along with my parents, are paying for most of the wedding expenses. My future in-laws are paying for my fiance's tux and the rehearsal dinner. My fiance's mom also is going to put together our silk flowers. These are the only expenses they are contributing to. The rest is split between my parents and us about 50/50. Should we include my fiance's parents on the invitations? I don't want to cause issues, but I also feel like they're not contributing nearly as much as the rest of us.

Day of Wedding stuff

My FI is out of town and I have been living and breathing wedding stuff this weekend. I picked up two BM dresses and tried mine on. A friend of a friend gave me a veil and it was the first time trying it with the dress and it worked. Veils are expensive so I'm excited it worked.

After that I went to Broadway Paper--- wasn't as huge of an envelope selection as I hoped. Then I went out on a limb and went to Weding Centre in West Allis. Waste of time as well... their selection is straight out of 1992 and they don't sell only envelopes.

Does anyone have any paper ideas locally? I am sending my invites out within a week and looking for something other than a basic white envelope that the printing shop sells.

Would love any ideas! TIA!

My fiancé and I decided to do a partial joint bachelor/bachelorette party. We will be tailgating together before a Brewers game and then the guys and girls will be sitting in separate sections at the game. After, the girls are going out and then the guys are going out separately. I invited my MOH, bridesmaids, mothers, and a few close friends. My fiancé invited his BM, groomsmen, fathers, and one close friend. My MOH called me yesterday angry because I didn’t invite her fiancé. We hang out with them together occasionally but my fiancé is not close friends with him. They never hang out together or anything. They only time the hang out is if all 4 of us do something. I am stressed out enough with stuff happening and recently had to deal with my fiancé’s mother getting angry because I won’t allow his cousins, all under the age of 17, invite their boyfriend to the wedding. I’m not inviting any of my bridesmaid’s boyfriends, who we also hang out with when we are all together, and none of them are upset. Sorry for the long drawn out story, I am just really frustrated! I don’t want to deal with this or any drama with the wedding only 2 months away. Is it wrong that we aren’t inviting him? Thoughts?
