I just got engaged, and we are planning a short engagment, we are planning on getting married Jan, 1. 2011, in Kenosha WI, on an EXTREMLEY small budget($3000 for the entire wedding, we are paying for it all ourselves)

So I only have about 9 months to plan. We have decided on semi-formal (ball gown and suit) Colors(green and silver), we are going to do all the food/deserts with the help of family and friends... But here are my questions...

1) We are still trying to find a winter venue that is reasonable, any ideas? about 100 people

2) Any tips for a winter wedding... It was never my plan, and I have nto gone to any winter weddings, so please help.

3) I have found lots of great budget tips, i.e. food ourselves, doing our own music, friends who are photographers, friend who is a baker, Crystal boquets instead of real flowers.... any other tips that are not so obvious?

Any recommendations on a caterer for a Milwaukee reception?

My (future) husband and I are having a destination wedding and wanted to come back and throw a "party" instead of an actual sit-down reception. We're thinking cocktails and hors d'ouvres (can be passed or available at stations).

Has anybody done this already or known someone else who has? Any luck with local caterers?

Is anyone getting a reception dress?

I just ordered mine and I am really excited about it! I plan on changing into it about an hour or so before the end of the reception as a surprise to everyone... My dress for the rest of the night is an all lace masterpiece, but it is very modest. The dress I ordered for my reception dress is a little more risqué, but still wedding appropriate.

I'm just wondering if anyone else is doing this?

Question for the experts, experienced brides, or others. My fiancée and I are considering having dueling pianos perform at our reception for the first two hours and then switching to a DJ for the remainder of the night. What do you think? My fiancée’s concern is that it will take the attention off of us. I think that it is “us” because we saw them for the first time when we were in Vegas for my birthday and now we look up different performers and visit the different venues all the time.

Hey ladies,

We've booked Lakefront and I'm very happy with the venue. BUT, we're also doing the ceremony there. I'm stuggling with how to do this, because we don't want people at tables. Any thoughts of how to reasonably break up this space? My mom and FI want the big entry, procession thing and I'm now sure the best way to do so.

Any suggestions?

I live in Minnesota and have a salon that I use for bikini waxes that I think does a great job. I'll be in Milwaukee for a week or so before my wedding and honeymoon so I'd like to have it done in Milwaukee closer to these events. Can you guys recommend any salons/specific people? Hello everyone!

So i was just wondering if anyone was from the Arkdale Wisconsin area??? Me and my Fi are planning on getting married at the cabin/property my family owns. The wedding isn't planned to be for quite a while yet but i would like to start getting some ideas.

Even though its going to be an outdoor ceremony at a place my family and I are familiar with, We are going to rent a large tent for the reception. We want to make this a black tie affair, even though were on a very tight budget. (wish us luck!)

anyways, i was just wondering if you could help me with any hotel, rentals, salon, caterers, etc. in the area. I have tried looking online since i live 5 hours from arkdale but im having a hard time finding places for these things.

hi ladies...just wanted to give a heads up to anyone looking for a photographer! i work in a bridal store in norther wisconsin, and we had a bride come in yesterday to pick out her save the dates, and when she started to tell us why she needed them i wanted to cry for her! her photographer (who was supposed to do them for her) turned out to be a scam artist!!! she met her at a wedding expo in bowler wi (at that point her company name was Phantom Photography) anyway, she booked her, signed a contract and gave her a deposit check...and then never heard from her again!!! she told us that when she went to report her to the BBB there were already over 20 complaints about her AND that she uses several different company names!!! so even though you find someone whos work you love at a wedding show, DO YOU RESEARCH please!! and dont let this happen to you!!! :-)

Hi Ladies!

A friend of mine has a brand new beautiful wedding dress that she would like to sell. It is a size 6 Monique Luo, brand new with tags still attached. She also has the slip and a matching veil. I couldn't find a picture of the front of the dress but I can explain it. It is ivory, strapless, dropped waist, and has lace/beading detail throughout the bodice. The entire skirt is ruffles, which is unlike any wedding dress I have ever seen. It is beautiful and very fashion forward. The dress was never altered, so it could be hemmed to your height if you know someone that does alterations. The original garment bag would also come with it. Hey Madison Brides-

I've been looking through this board for some help with flowers in the Madison area and haven't come up with much. I'm looking to get only ceremony flowers (i.e. bouquets, corsages, etc) for around $500. My wedding is Jan. 8 so I'm planning on using seasonal flowers (calla lilies are season I think). Does anyone know of a good/inexpensive florist in the Madison area? ANY suggestions would help, even if you don't know how the pricing would work for me. I'm really lost on places to go and I need to start making consultations!
