So I'm getting married this October and I have yet to pick a reception site. Everyplace that looks nice and has reasonable prices is already booked. Only 65 guest will be attending (close relatives and a few good friends), but a lot of venues have a 100 guest minimum. His parents offered to have it at there home in Delafield, although it would save us a ton of money, that's just not how I pictured our wedding. Does anyone know a place that might not be booked for October 10, 2010 or has anyone attended or has had an at home wedding?

Hello fellow brides!

i am going dress shopping on Tuesday at both Mahin and Brandi's bridal shops. I was wondering if there is anything I need to bring with me? I have only tried on dresses at Davids bridal and they give you a strapless bra to use. Do either of these places do the same thing? Also, to you have any good or bad things to say about them?

Do you ladies have any reccomendations for people who do wedding hair in MKE. They need to be able to come to the house and not be to expensive. My best friend's (I'm the MOH) stylist fell through. Wedding is Sept 18th.

YAY! The bridal shop just called and said that my dress is in. I get to go this Saturday to try on. I pray that it fits. I majorly fell off the exercise wagon at the end of October and have gained a ton of weight. FI and I started back at the YMCA spin classes this week to get some of the weight off. I also finished the pomander ball for my jr. bm to carry. I only had to go to 4 michael's to get all of the flowers! lol

Next on the agenda is booking the photographer and making invites. Has anyone used Maria Berelc Photography?

I am wondering if anyone has any ideas/suggestions for a good photographer for someone on a budget - I am looking for a photographer for a friend of mine and she's on a super tight budget (think around $500 give or take a little). Hey WI ladies! I'm a MN knottie living in Chicago with a MOH that lives in Waukesha. She just got word that her dress is in, and she's now looking for someone to do some alterations. She has lost some weight since ordering, so she'll need to have it taken in, and also have it hemmed. We're looking for someone who does good work at reasonable prices!

I already filled her in about Becky's in Milwaukee, but would love to give her a couple more options.

My FI and I mutually decided we were going to get married, and we are going to get married in Jan, so it is a rather short engagement. We are both very happy and excited.

I went online and picked out a ring at Helzberg diamonds. I wanted something small, because I teach horseback riding lessons, and i didn't want it to fall off or knock stones loose, so I picked a pretty little 1/4 ct. white gold. It is VERY simple. and little but I JUST LOVE IT.

My FI asked my father on Sunday,and my dad gave his blessing and my father must have told my mother.

This morning I came home and my mother is tapping her foot, and all pissed off, and I have no idea what is wrong. I asked, and she said she did not sleep, so I asked why...

She said, Because of you. and my jaw dropped, and I asked what now....

She said she was pissed off that we only spent $200 on my ring, and she proceeded to lecture me for about 20 minutes, on how my father would have lent my FI money, and how I will hate the ring, and always look at it in the years to come, and have a distain for it.

And later in the conversation she tells me she is happy for me and my FI is great... BUT she has not even seen the ring, they are just giving me a hard time because he did not spend a lot of money on it. He wanted to but I wanted to have something small and I would rather spend the money on the wedding.

But I am absolutely crushed, it hurt my feelings so bad, 1st that my mom didn't even wait until I had the ring, and for me to tell her 2nd that she cared s little about me and my feelings that instead of congratulating me, she criticizes me. Now I am afraid that I will always look at my ring and think of my mother and what she said, instead of when the man of my dreams told me he wants to spend the rest of his life with me..

Just looking for support and to see if anyone thinks I am blowing this out of proportion.
