Ok ladies!

I need advise! We are planning a destination wedding next May and I can't decide where or how to plan our reception for when we return home for those that weren't able to join us at our destination, etc.

Any unique sites for a reception in the Madison/Milwaukee area?

I want the reception to be fairly inexpensive and I wanted it to be outdoors. I initially thought of having it in our backyard, but our yard isn't big enough then we don't want to have to worry about the neighbors complaining about the all night dance party :)

How should we handle the "reception" for the guests that were able to make the trip to our destination? The resort is an all inclusive, however they want to charge us extra if we want to reserve a conference room with buffet (I don't see the point in paying for extra, but we'll see). Do we just have a cocktail hour after the ceremony and then have everyone fend for themselves for dinner? I don't know how this should all work...

HELP!!

I have a bit of a dilema. I've been dating my intended for four years, and we've always known we wanted to get married but have been waiting to get engaged until we can actually act upon it in a decent time frame! That time has finally come, and we've been gearing up to choose a ring. My boyfriend's grandmother's ring is available to us, and his mother has encouraged me to accept it and to even take the stones out and re-set them, and to turn in the gold to go toward our new purchase.

This is incredibly generous, but I feel sort of bad accepting and essentially destroying a family heirloom, especially when I'm not willing to do the same to my own great-grandmother's ring. Future Mother-in-law assures me, as does my boyfriend, that this is totally fine with them, but I still feel a bit odd.

My question is, has anyone else been in this situation, and what did you do? Was there any in-law fallout down the road, such as them holding the fact that you accepted that ring against you or never letting you forget what a favor they did you?

We really can't afford anything NEARLY as nice on our own, and I've never thought of myself as the bridezilla type, or the type to go crazy over diamonds (I used to say I didn't care if I had one or not), but now that these diamonds have been basically promised to me my materialistic side is finding it hard to refuse them.

Help!! To accept the ring, or not to accept the ring?

There is a lot of posts on photographers on these forums so I decided to give my advice as a former newbie bride:

First off if I can do it all over again I would never hire a budget photographer or a newbie photographer for that matter. Brides you have one wedding day and one wedding day only for the rest of your lives. Do not go cheap on the photographer because pictures is all you have after your wedding. Don't settle for a photographer because they are in your budget or you got a good deal. But find someone who's work you love and admire and go with your gut.

See it's been 16 months since my wedding and when I look back at my pictures there not that great. There fuzzy and unclear and you can tell that not much time and effort went into them. We soon found out that the photographer never went to school for any sort photography or invested time to learn the art. They just had a business website and a fancy camera. Thats the trend that I see a lot now these days with photographers whose links are on these forums and it frustrates me because that's how I got suckered in. There not "all bad" just the majority of them.

So take my advice and find a really good photographer you love, who knows what there doing, and find some way to pay for it. Because honestly you can't put a price on those precious memories.

I don't want anyone to make the mistake I did.

Just take your time, do your homework, follow your gut, and ask ask ask questions!!!!

Hi all,

My fiance and I have already decided on our reception site which is in Racine, but I cannot find the perfect ceremony site. I don't think we're doing a church wedding, so I'm just trying to find venues anywhere between milwaukee and racine which would work. I decided it's just too long of a trek to have the ceremnoy in Milwaukee and the reception in Racine...problem is - there isn't much between the two...

I also need ideas for photos since I am not actually from the Racine area so I don't know the area too well.

Please help!! (the wedding is May 2011 so I've got plenty of time to take poeple's ideas into consideration!).

Hey all,

I am on the hunt for a hair salon in Madison. My normal salon is charging $70+ for an updo for my bridesmaids, which is more than they can afford and I would feel guilty asking them to spend that much.

Does anyone have any reccomendations for hair salons in Madison? Has anyone used The Ultimate Salon or William Jon or others?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, my fiance and I are getting married on 10/10/10 in Michicot, WI (about 1/2 hour from Green Bay). Our biggest problem right now is colour scheme, we initially had this idea to incorporate a very deep red (almost a burgundy) and very deep purple (plumish) and gold, the gold basically to tie everything together and make it a pretty fall wedding. Red came from our favors which are homemade applesauce and purple from our toast (neither of us drink so we are planning to use grape juice). The problem however is that neither of us really have an eye for colour, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Would these (in your opinion) work together nicely? Should we drop one of the colours? Deep purple is also my favourite colour, so it has double meaning, and initially I wanted to pair it with silver.... but this is more a winter looking combo. As I said before any opinions and advice are welcome, Thank you!
