Hey there! So, I'm having a fall wedding...November 2012. It's a very simple, rustic, country, Texas wedding, with the ceremony outside and the reception inside. The venue is very rustic and country. I couldn't think of a good favor for the wedding and then I came across the candy apple or packaged S'mores idea. I thought it would be cool to maybe have either a S'mores station or a candy apple station for the guests to do themselves, with cellophane and ribbon for them to package and take home. I haven't looked too much into how it would work, and was wondering if anyone has been to a wedding where they have had this. Here are the ideas I've cooked up in my head:

A basket full of pre-stuck apples and small plates at one end. The cellophane and ribbons at the other end. In between would be melted chocolate, beer chocolate, and caramel as well as different toppings. (for the kiddies I would have pre stuck marshmallows and they could do the same with them). The S'mores station would be similar with grahm crackers, plates, chocolate, fresh fruit, etc at one end and the propane flames in the middle.

I would really appreciate some input! Thanks!!!!

How early is too early to order them? I'm getting married next October, and the Knot has a sale on them right now that I'm afraid they won't have again for whatever reason between now and the wedding. If I order them now, will the bubble solution dry up? I'd hate to have to store them, and open them up the week of the wedding to have them be empty. :/ I don't recall my bubbles evaporating as a child, but there's not as much in these tubes as a big bottle. Any brides have any experience with these? Unnecessary stress, lol.

I just wanted to pass along a tip my fiance and I have discovered for ourselves. We are planning to do a Candy Bar for our favors, and were planning on buying little organza bags to place at each guest's seat to have them fill with candy.

However, we just went to a place called Cash and Carry (it's a supply store for restaurants, but is open to the public) and bought small, plain white chinese to-go boxes for much cheaper. They were only $3.97 for fifty boxes. We're planning to make a stamp or a sticker for the outside to dress them up a bit.

I'm sure there are other stores like this all around, so if you're looking for something similar, it may be something to check into. :)

Ok so the immediate idea that came to mind when I thought of favors was a gumball machine with a tag attached to tell the story of why the favors were chosen. (The joke behind the favors is that my FH finally got a ring out of the gumball machine and didn't know what else to do with it !)

I'm not sure if I'm just stuck on the idea now or if it's a good one?!

Your thoughts would be much appreciated!
TIA

Our wedding is in October but I do not want our reception to scream FALL. I was going to give small pumpkins out as favors but that idea didn't go over too well. I don't want to give anything out with our names on it because i think that's pointless. Our reception is inside but there is a covered fire pit outside. I was thinking about giving out s'more kits for the guests to use at the fire pit but i didnt think this was enough of a favor for them because they are using it at the actual reception. The kit would include the basic graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmellows in some type of cute bag. What do you think?

I ordered the square beach candle favors from theknot shop (adorable), and I am trying to figure some sort of thankyou tag to put on it (we are giving them out as favors). I didnt really want to do a sticker becuase I didnt want to block the "view" of the candle, but maybe if it is clear it will be ok. They are pretty small (2x2), so if I use a tag I dont want it to overwhelm. Has anyone given these out and have a suggestion (I am not a DIY-er, although i will tie ribons and hole punch tags if I have to). The tags offered here are kind of large, looking for something a little smaller and cute!!

Any suggestions/links would be much appreciated!

Aubrey

I have been wondering what on earth to use as a favor. I went to a baby shower over the weekend and "won" some prizes, and ended up carrying home a coffee mug I'll never use, a lotion set that has a non-working pump, rubber duckies (which sadly were my favorite favor of all but kinda useless), a pair of cheapy ceremic booties and a mesh bag with jordan almonds. Yum. Granted, this was a baby shower but what happened next really sparked my creative thoughts. Mabye this is an unoriginal thought but I wanted to share it anyway.

My wedding is Mid-October and we don't have much of a "theme" beyond the colors chosen. We aren't doing "rustic barn" or "birds" or any of the cutesy stuff so I was stumped. After putting up our Christmas tree this weekend my daughter asked if she could put the ceremic booties on the tree from the baby shower. That's when it occured to me...I'm going to do a Christmas Ornament to give away. Obviously this will only work for people who celebrate Christmas (all of our guests do) and my ornament is going to be something that isn't too wedding-ish. I'm going to focus on the ornament being something along the lines of friendship, and we will sign the back of it. (maybe family focused for the people we are related to).

I love this idea because I LOVE adding ornaments to my tree every year, from that year and I love reminiscing about where the ornaments came from, etc. and my guests don't have to be subjected to another candle, bag of candy or other items they will have to figure out what to do with when they get home. This can be packed up and pulled out once a year and hopefully the wedding will be so much fun that it will bring a smile to everyone's face.

Hope this idea helps others too. I'm sure winter brides do this often, but being a Fall Bride I kinda thought it would be a nice twist on the favor idea.

Also going to make wine-charms for each person. Found "2012" on Charmfactory.com for .50 each so that's also something they can "use" (if they drink wine! LOL

April

I'm getting married at an orchard that also has pumpkin patches. Two weeks ago I contacted the venue to see if they had any pumpkins left; they had hundreds. So my mom and I used their pumpkin to make pumpkin butter favors for the guest. It was maybe around $1 per person, a lot of work, but great since it will acutally be sentimental to the wedding. For fellow orchard brides, if it's cold enough where you are, there are prob still plenty of pumpkins out there.
