Hi ladies. I was a knottie 5 years ago when planning for my wedding and haven't been on here in a while. I need some help from you though. I'm looking for red & black candies (other than licorice and redhots) for a candy table. I ordered some candy from a website for my wedding but can't find the name of the site. Any suggestions on candies or on websites would be much appreciated!

I don't know if anyone is doing this, but we're having glow in the dark sticks for our reception, to add a little fun to it. They have 15 in a cylinder for $1 at Michaels. Target had this deal a few months back, but I'm not sure if Target still has them, but Michaels does.

I am getting married Sunday, October 9th and I plan on giving each couple a candy dish with Lindt chocolate truffles. When should I order the favors? I only have about 30% of the responses at this point, and I will not have the rsvps until about 2 weeks out from the wedding (my big mistake). I am ordering the candy and the dishes separately. When should I order the chocolate? I am nervous with this summer's heat and humidity that all the candy will melt and be ruined if I order it anytime soon. However, I need time to wrap the chocolate up into favor bags with bows.

Hi All!!

Getting married in just over two weeks (YYAAYY) and I'm finishing up my wedding favors. We are making homemade dark chocolate hearts, with wedding vows (Each one says "To Have" or "To Hold" or "For Better".. so on and so forth). Each favor will get two hearts to complete the phrase. My goal in my wedding was to personalize things as much as possible (with out over doing it--just want things to have our touch to them).. sooo I want everyone to know that my fiance and I have hand made all the chocolate ourselves.. I want to include a tag with a little verse on it.. here's what I'm thinking:

"A Thank You From Us

That's Semi-Sweet

Enjoy Your Chocolate,

It's a homemade treat"

What do you think? If it's not good, please let me know and share your ideas!! :)

Candy bar plus caramel apples..

We are getting married in October. The reception is going to be in a rustic barn so I would like for there to be caramel apples to go along with the fall theme but still being a kid at heart I would like to have a candy bar too. Especially for all the children that will be attending. So would a candy bar plus caramel apples be to much?

DIY Mini Pies - Am I crazy?

Backstory: My mother passed away last year just after my engagement. She was an avid baker and was well known in our community for sharing her pies with friends, neighbours and our church. Even in her eulogy they remembered her for volunteering with kids and baking with them and teaching them that the special ingredient in baking is Love.

I want to bake personal sized pies (ok tarts) for each of the guests with a little cookie cutter heart on top using my mom's pie crust recipe and cherry pie filling from a can (to keep it simple) since our colours are Red, White & Black.

I want to find some favour boxes online to package them in with cellophane windows that show off the pie and include a label referencing that the pies are homemade with the special ingredient of Love.

Everyone I've mentioned this to thinks I'm crazy to volunteer to bake 150 personal pies and package them right before the wedding day. (I want them to be fresh!) It will take approx. 30min bake time per 20 pies.

So here's the survey... Am I crazy?

Hello! As I have 468 days to go, I have been thinking about favors. As my fiance and I have already found something we think would be a nice gift, it is not a gift to give children or young adults. Should I have different favors for them? There will be a few kids around the ages of 10-16 and about 15 or so that are late teens/early 20's that live at home. Any suggestions???

Table card frames as favors?

I was planning on buying baroque style frames to use as table cards for the guests along with a small edible favor at each place setting. The frames match the decor at our venue, so I thought it would be a little nicer than the regular paper escort card. But I've read a couple times on these boards that frames are on the list of knick-knack-y favors that guests usually don't want/leave behind, etc. In your opinion, should I go along with the frames as they add to the decor, or should I nix the idea?

Anyone out there use these for your buffet? and if so which size worked best for you? most of our candy will be small with a few suckers & licorice.

I'm looking for ideas for wedding favors! My fiance and I, as much as we love our great state of WV, are getting married out of state. Since we won't be able to be home on our big day, I thought it would be nice to incorporate some things related to WV into our wedding and give our guests a little taste of home in the wedding favors : ) I've been thinking to myself, "What defines WV?" and could use a little help HaHa. Obviously I need it to be something affordable for a lot of guests (around 150). I would prefer it to not be food, just because I was trying to go with a favor that guests can keep to remember our day (and if it's food, once they eat it, it's just gone). I tried to think of simple things like candles hand-made in our hometown of Charleston, or decorating with Rhododendrons (our state flower). BUT, the wedding will be in late August/September and I have no idea if I will be able to find Rhododendrons in bloom then. Please, if anyone has ANY thoughts/ideas, I would really appreciate it! I am asking this far in advance in case I get any DIY ideas : ) Thanks!!

Hi Ladies!! I posted this to my local Craigslist today but I thought I should add it here as well and open it up to the community. I bought these cupcake boxes to use for my favors, but they were just a tad bigger than I pictured (and measured). I purchased 200 of them for $70 – I am selling 199 for $60. I took one out of the box to fold up and put something in to see how it would look. The rest of them are still flat in the original box/packaging they came in. If this is something you might be interested, please let me know. I can also ship for $5 flat rate (it is a 10lb box ). Have a great weekend!!

slideshow on dvd?

me and my f are wanting a slideshow at the wedding but we really dont think it possible bc our venue does not have a place to project it or anything. we are having about 35 guest and i was wondering would it be a bad idea to put the slideshow on a dvd/cd at every seat at the dinner we are having? i think it would be nice for people to have it but then again will people actually watch it or should i not care? also if we gave these out as favors we would not play the slideshow during the wedding. otherwise we are going to figure something else out. any suggestions are welcome! thank you!

The only people attending our wedding will be our family (ie. our parents, sibling and their family, my son, aunts and uncles). We do have 5 people who will be coming from another state to our wedding. Do we do favors for our family only wedding or not? If so how do we save money on them?

we bought glow in the dark scilicone wristbands for favors that are personalized and also debating on putin a deck of cards, shot glases, or lip balm as favors.. super confused on what else to give..

our wedding is family only, some friends. in las vegas. the wristbands are going in toy capsules and into a 50cent toy machine which will be free obvioiusly for the guest to get but we want somthing extra?!

Cook Smores as Wedding Favor?

Instead of the standard wedding favor, we're thinking about ending the wedding with a smores station. The caterer cooks the smores in front of the guests and guests can grab smores before they leave. I've been to a few weddings recently and have forgotten the favors each time. I think this option may stand out a little, but am not sure. What do you think? thanks!

I have pretty much decided on giving my guests beignets and to-go cups of cafe au lait as our favors. Here's my dilemma: you have to serve beignets warm or the don't taste as good. How can I keep them warm until the end of my reception? I want them to be pre-boxed so nobody will have to be boxing them up all night long, my guests can just grab them on their way out. Is this a bad idea? Should I just ask my caterer to box them as my guests leave? Or have one of my guests do it? I'm not sure what to do. Thanks for the advice!

Inexpensive edible fall favor ideas

I am definitely open to DIY as long as it doesn't require lots of work that must be done close to the wedding date (ex. baking cookies, making caramel apples, etc.)

Here are some ideas I had: little bags of chocolates from a hometown factory or pretzels from a local place (or making my own chocolate-dipped pretzels using them); making peach jam or something along those lines (although by the time I buy enough fruit and jars, it may not be so inexpensive), ordering treats from a local bakery like mini pies or apple tarts, etc.

Any recommendations? (and when I say inexpensive, I'd like to keep it under $2 pp) Thanks!
