Hello Everyone! I guess I'll get right to it... for our favors my future mother-in-law bought us a bunch of those bride/groom boxes. For our "bride" favors we are making homemade vanilla extract. My thinking is that it is something I have been making for a long time so I know the process, and it is something that will actually get used. However, I am not so sure of what to put in the "groom" box.

We are trying to make the favors as inexpensive as possible. The vanillas will end up costing about $40 packaged, so we would like to keep the groom's favor at about 1/2 that cost. I was thinking of going with a sweet and spicy theme? Possibly a BBQ rub of some sort? I could also do coffee beans, but I would wonder how many people would really use that? Any advice would be great!

....also, I am reading that many people are against "couple" favors. I guess this would technically qualify, but I am thinking it is fine since both people actually get something. Plus, all but two people are bringing a guest.

We are having a photo booth at our wedding and I've read many blogs stating we could use that as our favor as it's something our guests can have fun with and won't actually mind keeping. What I would like to do is have a photo booth frame as their favor to keep their photo in that will also serve as escort/place cards. I think the magnetic frames will be a better choice because I think more people would be inclined to stick it on their fridge rather than have some little plastic frame sitting on a shelf somewhere. My only problem is how to do I display the escort cards? They will take up way too much space laying on a table, and I don't want to put them at each place setting and have my guests searching around the room for theirs. I looked into a magnetic board, but I'd probably need several and they are not cheap at all. Do you think some sort of basket would work well, or will it look tacky? I want it to look nice without being difficult for my guests or break the bank. All suggestions are greatly appreciated! :-)

I was searching for menu styles online, and found one where it's in a book. This got me thinking...

We make our own little books (using blurb or something). with the menu in the first few pages (appetizers on one, main course on the next, etc). The rest of the pages (probably at least 25) would be quotes, poems, very short stories that we really like, centered around love and life. Working title: "Food and Other Thoughts."

On the front inner cover, I can write "For [guest's name]" and on the back inner cover we can have a "thank you!" I definitely want to personalize each menu.

The nicest version would be hardcover, but that's so expensive, so we'll probably do paperback. It'd be about $3 per book, and I think there are discounts for bulk orders. FYI we're having about 50 guests, all close relatives and friends.

What would be really cool is if in the RSVP cards, guests could tell me what their favorite poem/quote is and I could include that. not sure if that'd work out.

I know this is SO extravagant. But I really like the idea. There's not a literary theme to our wedding, but both me and FI love writing (I'm minoring in creative writing and he's attempting to write a book)...I also love poems.

So at first, my orchard-inspired, apple-themed, September wedding made a whole lot of Pinterest-sense. I'm not into fancy, blingy, or flashy things. I'm into baking, fall, caramel apples, and gardening.

The venue we've booked (a local college with a beautiful old tudor mansion) can still reasonably accommodate most of my Pinterest ideas (honestly, glass vases filled with red and green apples as centerpieces - so budget-friendly and I think they'll look wonderful. Major +, you can see over them to talk to people). However, I was thinking about doing small burlap bags to give to people to take home these centerpiece apples, which for an outdoor wedding would have been awesome, now it doesn't really fit.

I want to have people take home the apples, maybe include a recipe card for apple turnovers or fritters or something - maybe a few different somethings on different bags. Lots of decisions and some I'm struggling with partly because I want simple but his family is really large and wants the whole enchilada! Anyhow, I digress, I've been racking my brain about favors that would be fun with our venue. I'm thinking maybe wine glass charms. I could make them with zoological charms and other beads coordinated with our wedding colors. Their super simple and I have a ton of time between sitting on the bleachers at the ice rink or wrestling tournaments I could produce wine charms instead of reading or surfing my phone! A box of candy just seems so boring. I'm committed to the big wedding but I would still like it to feel somewhat intimate and hand made favors seem appropriate. What do you think?

Ladies save yourselves the hassle and DO NOT order from www.jordanalmonds.com!

I ordered for my wedding favors back in August and was told they would not ship until closer to my wedding date. I told them I would like them no later than December 15th so I would have time to get my favors put together. I have emailed them 5 times since the 15th and received no response. Out of curiosity I googled the company's reviews and found that they have a LONG STANDING HISTORY of not responding to messages, charging for candy and NEVER SENDING IT, and refusing to respond to customer inquiries. They are NOT accredited by the Better Business Bureau either. Since it has been more than 3 months since the charge went to my credit card, my credit card company won't do a charge back and this company doesn't reply to messages. I called them 3 times, 3 different numbers. One "customer service" line goes straight to voicemail, another is disconnected, and the 3rd phone number I found on my credit card statement goes to some guy who MIGHT? be the owner of the company. I left messages. Still nothing. I requested a cancellation and immediate refund. I doubt I'll get it. I'm now out $53 and my wedding is in less than a week. Thank GOD for Amazon.com, they have Jordan Almonds available and I'll get them on Monday... but I had to settle for white which is NOT the color I wanted. This sucks.

You have been warned!

Hi! I'd appreciate some input on which reception favor you favor! We are deciding between two boxed chocolate options that fit in with our understated "champagne" theme.

The first option is a 3-piece box of champagne chocolate truffles from Charbonnel et Walker. The presentation is very nice and fits well with our theme -- stating on the box lid that they are champagne truffles, and handily matching our wedding colors (gold, blush pink (with navy)). The samples tasted good, but not amazing. They are about $8 per piece: http://www.charbonnel.co.uk/products/dinner-parties-weddings/mini-pink-truffle-hearts.html

The second option is a 2-piece box of champagne truffles shaped as little champagne corks from Jacques Torres. The presentation is beautiful but does not match our colors (the boxes are brown and orange) and the box does not indicate that they are champagne flavored. Obviously, the shape (ands flavor) matches the champagne theme, but I have some concerns that the shapes are not immediately recognizable as corks. They look a bit like mushrooms and, errr, something else perhaps. Yet, they are delicious. They are about $5 per piece.
Before lurking on TK, I was all about a donation favor until I learned that it comes off as AW-ing (especially using "in your honor" somewhere on the favor). This, among other things, is one of the great things I learned on TK that makes me very happy that I came here to lurk and ask questions.

Anyway, for favors I'm going with an edible, but my FI and I still want to make a donation to the org that we had in mind (ASPCA) mostly in honor of not our guests, but our rescue pup who we love so much. I wouldn't shove anything in our guests' faces regarding our donation (putting a print-out on their place settings, etc.), but I was thinking about maybe framing a picture of our dog along with other photos we'll have around the venue (of us, close ones we've lost, etc.), along with maybe a little blurb letting our guests know about our dog's story with a little tiny piece mentioning we donated to the org in her honor.

Or is that just tacky?

They have these really cute bride and groom boxes at the dollar store in packs of 10 for $1. That are very easy to assemble and don't look cheap or tacky. We filled ours with candies and placed them at each guests' place setting. The theme was "Love is Sweet" so each table was named after a candy. We got the big bags from Sam's Club and who doesn't love candy?

My bridal shower is at a golf club where my mother
is a member—she is hosting the shower and many of her friends from the club
(all of whom golf) will be in attendance.

We’re likely going to go with an edible favor but I actually
just saw something cute on TK shop which was personalized golf tees. If I were
to get these, they wouldn’t replace the edible favors and I would have them somewhere
so that they’re not shoved in my guests’ faces, but that they’re somewhere
where anyone can grab them, like in a snifter glass on the bar or something.

I like the tee idea because my shower is in the spring (when
golf season starts), and I will have a surprising amount of female golfers in attendance
at my shower, including myself and several of my bridesmaids. I think it would
be a cute touch, but I don’t want to make them personalized to my name and
wedding date, so would love some ideas on cute ways to personalize. Thanks!

Hey everyone, my wedding is in a few weeks (yay!) and I was trying to finalize my favors. I'm definitely doing an edible favor, and I was leaning towards maple sugar candies, the kind that come shaped like leaves or people. I love these but I just wanted to see how other people feel about them. As background, our wedding is pretty small (35 people) at an apple orchard in New England.

Hi everyone, my FH and I are big readers and we first became interested in each other because we were reading the same book series. Books play a big role in our leisure time so I was really excited to come up with the idea to give a book away to guests as a parting gift from our wedding and find them for a cost effective price. I have all the books in hand and many are titles we have read or by authors we enjoy. I want to make it more personalized and wanted to write an inscription inside the covers of each of them but I am struggling to figure out what to say. I will put our.names and our wedding date, but I thought a little message would be a great help. Any thoughts or suggestions would be hugely appreciated!

Hi ladies!

So I've been mulling over what to give as favors and I think I have a game plan but I wanted a professional opinion.

I'm putting Lindor truffles in a bag that will double as the escort card (a nice white cardboard bag/box with the guests name and table number on the front)

My mom and I will be making chocolate lollipops together and closing them with ribbons that have FI and my name and the date.

My last idea was to put a small thing of bubbles at every plate so people can play with them throughout the reception and while they're dancing (in lieu of a knick knack they have to bring home). I'm sure not everyone will use them but I know most will and it's not something I'll be upset to see left on a table after the guests leave.

I'm having a photobooth where the attendants frame the pics for the guests too so I'm hoping no one side eyes that I didn't spring for a fucking heart shaped bottle opener for everyone.

Any advice would be very much appreciated!
