For my wedding we are giving out mini jars of both homemade raspberry jam and homemade salsa. They are two things that we love AND they match the color scheme! We will start making them after Christmas, so I am just wondering if I should make one per person or one per couple. At first I thought one per couple but because we have two different things that will likely be layed on a table will people be inclined to grab one of each?

We are getting married in March 2011 and I'm looking for a few good ideas! Any ideas on favors, decor, welcome bags, etc. would be greatly appreciated! A big constraint will be travelling through customs with any items, so anything that wont make it or will be too hard to pack is out of the question. Any ideas?

So we are trying to keep our budget down as much as possible because we have already gone over a few grand. We are doing a cruise wedding and are very limited on what is allowed on the ship for favors.. no food (unless individually store wrapped), glass, candles, or sharp objects. So we have come to the conclusion of personalizing a mixed CD in paperboard sleeves. The front of the paperboard sleeve will have our monogram on it and inside will be the CD with a label coveing it. The songs will be our first dance song and songs that are meaningful to our relationship.. like the song that played after he proposed, "our" song, songs that we ALWAYS play in the car, etc. The booklet inside will contain lyrics to each song and a little bit about why it is special to us.
Is this lame or cute?

Hi everyone, I have some thoughts about favors and I'm finding that the costs really add up fast.....what would you say is the average cost of favors or range of favor expenses? how much is too much, or too little to spend on favors? please help me out here, b/c I just have no idea what people spend these days on favors.....is $300-$400 average or too much? we will probably end up having around 130 people at our wedding

So as I wrote in the food board, my mom insist on buying us a cake even though my fiance and I want cupcakes and infact have already put a non-refundable down payment on them. Im trying to come up with a way to make everyones idea work and happy.

What do you ladies think about having a wedding cake and using the cupcakes as favors (wrapped up nicely in a box)?

My fiance and I are getting married in April 2nd and have been thinking long and hard about what to do for our favors. He will most likely be deploying shortly after our wedding so we started to discuss donating to the "Heart of a Marine Foundation" since they help out all branches of the military. My family is full of military members as well as his. We don't want our guest to feel cheated out of a favor or anything like that but we want to help out a military charity as well. Is there an easy/cheap way to do both or should we just make the donation and write up little notes saying something along the lines of in lieu of favors, we've donated the money to a charity instead?

My fiance and I are thinking about burning CDs as wedding favors. He's really good at song selections and I'm talented graphically so we figured we could really customize them to our wedding; making CD labels or jewel case covers. His sister did them for her wedding, and both is cousins did them as well, so now it's almost become a family tradition as we are the last to get married. I want something guests will use and enjoy but I'm not 100% sold on the CD idea. Is that too 'old fashion' now that everyone has iTunes?

Flower Favors PIP

If we're having a very simple wedding centerpieces, a mason jar with either gerbera daisies or tulips, is it wierd to offer single stems to guests to take home. I would like to keep the jars, but I think that parting with a stingle flower stem is kinda cute.

I know if you're a single guy, this would probably be really really wierd, but we're really only having one, maybe two guys who are not married or in serious "live-in" relationships and will be attending as a couple.

I was all set to do "lemon drops" as a suggestion from many of the knotties on here, but FI thinks it's lame (he can't give me a reason why, he just does!) so I'm just going to give up on the favor idea.

I have no idea how I would convey this message, but do you think this is wierd, should I just skip it, and send centerpieces home with my bridesmaids, and other special people?

I would just really like to do something with all those flowers!

Sorry, I know this is long, it's late, and I'm rambling :)

We are using mason jars for our guests drinks as well as favors for the guests to use at the wedding and take home. Anybody have any ideas of cute sayings to communicate this to all 140 guests? Like for example, I've seen..."You're glass for the night for whatever tastes right" and thought that was really cute, but I need to somehow communicate to everyone that they are theirs to keep! Help!

I'm having a bridal shower where the majority of people invited will be family members. I'm allowing them to bring their kids (the majority are teenagers). Do I need to get them a special favor? I'm thinking of heart shaped measuring spoons for the favor - but don't think it makes sense to give a family of four (mom and her three teens) four of these -- and don't think they're as fun for the kids.

So the question is -- should I get a special favor for the kids invited? (there are about 8 invited) If so, any ideas??

Hello Ladies!

I've probably obsessed WAY too much over this, but the majority of my guests are traveling from out of town so I've been trying to think of favor ideas that travel well, that people would want to keep. My current idea is simple frosted glass votive candle holders with unscented ivory candles. I'm thinking of including a personalized pack of matches with it, and wrapping everything in a nice cellophane bag that is tied with a ribbon in my wedding colors (Victorian lilac) with a tag that reads "Thank you for sharing our day".

What I'm thinking is that everyone loves candles, and they are neutral in color to match any decor. Any candles that are left behind I could use to decorate our home.

What do you think? Any input would be awesome.

Destination Wedding Favors

Hello Fello Brides,

I am having a hard time picking out favors for my wedding. My original plan was to do personalized beach towels or beach bags, which gets kind of pricey.
I was also thinking personalized shot glasses, and using the during the reception by putting candles in them.
My third idea was making gift bags with sunscreen, lip balm, and sunglasses in them.
I am also accepting NEW IDEAS. lol I am so tired of looking at favors!!

Which do you think would be the best? (reminding you i have to carry these favors in my luggage)

I want something cute with our names on it, but something our guests will use.

Favors are escort cards

Were using our favors as the escort cards but I wan't sure what to do for the head table. I want them to have a favor but would I put it with the rest of the cards or just place it on the head table. If I put it on the card table would I put their name on it with out a table number?

Charity/Organization Favors

In lieu of traditional favors my FI and I have decided to donate money on our guests behalf to charities/foundations. My question is how do I go about letting the guests know that there was a donation made on their behalf and how not to make people feel uncomfortable about it.
I thought of getting sterling silver picture frames and making an insert that read "A donation to xyz has been made on your behalf". My only concerns are 1) it will clutter the tables 2) It may not look good on the tables and having a bunch of picture frames on another table sounds silly 3) I dont want to bring up a sore subject accidently (My mother/grandmother passed from Ovarian Cancer and one of the organinzations is Ovarian Cancer National Alliance).

Any suggestions or ideas?

I am getting married next June and was wondering if it was too early to put together my favour boxes. They are extremly time consuming, i have about 25 done and was wondering if i should continue to finish them or should i wait a few months before the wedding to finish them. How far in advance did you put yours together and where/how did you store them?

There are very few weddings that I've been to over the years where I can remember what the favors were. Most were edible, I know that (and so was everything else at the reception...). I just don't see the point in spending money on yet one more edible thing for my wedding that I personally don't care about when that money could be going towards things for my guests that I DO care about (like the catering and cake...).
I like the idea of favors that last... But I know my guests don't care to have a little trinket of some kind with our names and wedding date plastered all over them...
One of my friends had their wedding at a vineyard and they did wine glasses as favors, which I thought was a great idea, but wine isn't "our thing". We like it, drink it occasionally...but it doesn't at all represent who we are as a couple. And neither does a measly piece of chocolate or a book of matches with our picture on it. I guess what I'm saying is, that if I'm going to send my guests home with something, I want it to be something they'll use or enjoy for more than a bite or, worse yet, throw in the trash.
I'm sure there's mixed feelings out there...but am I the only one who thinks favors are just something for us to spend more money on when they're just a little thing that the guests don't really care about anyway???

Destination Favours

Hi There,

We're headed to Vegas for our wedding and with six months to go still I keep thinking I should buy more favours for our guests.
The wedding very small, 14 of our nearest and dearest, and we're alerady paying $1500 for a limo bus to get people to and from the airport for our flights. (Flying out of Toronto is too expensive and a hassle so we're bringing everyone to Detroit)
I found these cute little old style alarm clocks that we'll give out to hopefully wake everyone up for their early flight :) We've got personalized tags for them as well as ribbon/wrapping.
Anyone have any other ideas for cute or vegas style favours? Or should I stop already because I've already spent over $100/guest?
