Favours dilemma!!

Hi folks

I am getting married in Cancun next year and having a big party when I return to Glasgow, Scotland. I am looking to give out flip flops as my favours to my guests back home to tie in with our theme and because I think all the ladies will appreciate kicking off there hig heels!

Can anyone recommend any goods sites where I can buy bulk flip flops for a decent price?

i am giving out homemade jam at my wedding - the jars aren't too big but still bigger than the ones you get a hotel.

it has been a thing in my family to make raspberry jam from the raspberries in my parent's garden and give it out to family and friends. so most people at the wedding will understand the story behind the favors. but half (from the groom's side) won't.

what do i put on the label that will be stuck to the top? I need a short catchy phrase or note. should i say thank you for attend? enjoy a homemade treat? should i say from me and my fi and/or include the date of the wedding.

should i put a sign on the table explainging the story behind the jam or just forget about it and let them find out by word of mouth.

Our wedding will be on the beach on Cape Cod. My future mother in law is an artist, and I had the idea that for favors she could paint Cape Cod beach scenes on 5x7 canvas panels. She is more than happy to do this, and I know I would appreciate it (not sure if all the guests will tho), just wanted to know what eveyone else thinks? Should we just go with something edible?

Should the favors have their own table? Or go with each place setting? If own table do you leave a note stating to take two? We are giving out Yankee Candle Leave tea lights (two different designs). Not sure where I should pu them so guests take them home.

so I'm thinking about doing a photobooth at my wedding. If I did this would I have to have a favor as well. They get to take home one of the photo strips that is taken of them but I think its a good way to get a guest book with pictures of all the guests and it is a fun idea. Any suggestions?

So my fiance wants some sort of edible favors.. I want to do something kind of different though, but I am working with a very limited budget. And I am having a huge brain fart and cant think of any ideas of what would be cute as an edible favor that wont cost me an arm and a leg.. Cookie favors: to freeze or not to freeze?

During the first date my fiance and I had we made chocolate chip cookies. They were the most expensive homemade cookies ever since he had no cookie ingredients in his bachelor pad and we had to go buy flour, sugar, everything including the baking sheet!

We thought it would be fun to give out a couple of cookies in nice little cellophane bag packs at the guests' plates with a little story about our first date. I'm planning to make them in advance and freeze them so I'm not madly baking during wedding week, and I'm wondering if anyone has done this -- do you put them into the cellophane bags and then freeze them, or do you bake them and freeze them in one big container and put them into the bags a couple of days before the wedding? I'm worrying about pre-bagging them and then they get soggy in the bags when they defrost. Any advice?

Hello Ladies,

So for the holidays a few years ago my cousin made us grocery tote bags that he decorated with little animals and wrote phrases on the back. Now we all love this bag because it is sturdy for groceries (way better than the ones you buy in the store). I would like to do this for the OOT bags at the hotel. But I was wondering what, if anything, I should decorate it with. Our monogram is complex so I don't know that I want to be painting that on. Should I do some sort of wedding thing? Or should I do something Chicago related (Cubs/Sox or Hawks or Giordanos Pizza). Or should I not bother putting anything on it? Or does this idea suck so bad? Thoughts please!

I like the idea of doing carmel and chocolate covered pretzel rods for our favors. With that said I would like to have hot pink and orange chocolate to drizzle over top of them to incoorporate our colors, is there some way I can get ahold of these colors - if so where? Last, how far in advance to my wedding do you think I could make these? I have atleast 372 to make (2 a piece) .

So, I went to a wedding this weekend and they had no favors. I didn't even realize until I was telling my stepmom about the wedding the following day. And we were comparing different aspects to the wedding I am planning. So, I just want to say, if they are causing you stress or don't seem in the budget, its okay to skip them entirely!! I didn't miss them one bit!

My wedding is in 6 days (AAH!), and I need a little help with a small detail we haven't figured out yet.

We are doing mix CDs as our favors (please spare me the opinions, I know most of you on here hate this idea, but it's done and we like it :). Most of the reception is not assigned seating, since it is in an old mansion with multiple rooms. So we are planning on putting the CDs in a pretty basket on the same table as our guest book, card box, etc. We are going to have about 150 guests, and we made a little over 100 CDs. The idea is that it should be one per couple or one per single person.

Here is the question: Do we need to make a little sign to explain this? Will people automatically take one each unless we instruct them otherwise? My instinct says some people won't take one at all, and most couples will only take one... so we are probably fine with what we have. But I don't want to run out and feel like a jerk.

What do you think?

For my favors, I thought it would be really cute to have s'more kits, with a little poem attached outside of the favor box. My only issue is that we are having our wedding in the city, and space does not permit for a bon fire. Would it be tacky/dumb to give a s'more kit as a favor if they cannot make them during the reception?

Are photobooths more of a distraction than actual fun?

One of the big cons that just came up with having a photo booth at our reception is the distraction that it might cause. I don't want people swarming the photo booth while the best man is making his toast or while we're having our first dance. I know everyone who's had a photo booth at their wedding absolutely loved it, but does anyone think it causes more of a distraction?

i want a wow factor at the wedding and want it to be interactive as possible, during the reception we will be having a cigar roller, and i was also thinking of having a photo flip book station. should i have someone else for a favor to like little mason js of chimmichuri sauce( also going to be used during diner) or would the cigar staion and phot booth be enough? or maybe all three? any ideas would be great

New around here, and yes I'm going to poke at the edible favor love...while I understand why people like them, we are looking elsewhere for our favors. Both of our families have heath issues with food, or at heath freaks and won't even be eating cake!...more for me- so since we are a geek couple who work with computers all day, we were thinking of the usb flash drive favor- maybe with the date or nothing at all. Most of our invited do use them all the time- and to us its something practical. Any thought? Any love/hate comments? I know them can be expensive..but our guest list is 25 people.

I am having the hardest time deciding what to give out as favors. I don't want to give out anything useless, because no one needs just another knick-knack. I have narrowed it down to two options: items that I'm 99% sure will be useful, and chocolate of some sort (chocolate candies, homemade chocolate-covered pretzels, etc.). As for the useful items, I am considering things like personalized lip balm and hand sanitizer bottles that match the wedding theme colors. The reason I think those things will be so useful is that I'm getting married in mid-November, so a lot of my guests might appreciate some relief for their chapped lips. And I know that when my hands dry out and chap up in the winter, washing them with regular soap burns, so I do about a quarter of my hand washing in winter with hand sanitizer instead. If any of my guests have dry hands, they might like the idea themselves.

So if you were a guest at my wedding, what would give you a bigger smile when you reached your seat: chocolate lollipops, chocolate-covered pretzels (perhaps with nonpariels), lip balm, or hand sanitizer?

Tulip Favors

So when thinking of favors, I wanted something unique that people could keep to remind them of our wedding for years to come. The wedding is all tulip themed since it has a very special meaning to me growing up. So I was thinking of giving everyone a tulip bulb in a favor box with a card saying thanks, the date, our names, and the instructions on how to plant them. Here is where I need some opinion:
The wedding is in April, and you can't plan tulips until Sep-Oct, will people keep them that long and actually plant them? And are people actually going to want one lone tulip in their yard? I thought about having them already in bloom and placed individually on the tables, but turns out that would be waaaay more work/expense than I would care to spend.

So ladies, what do u think? Good idea, or should I start thinking of something else?

I'm a bit of a logistics junky, so I am trying to plan everything out in advance so that I'm not running around and stressed when the month before my wedding comes around. In terms of favors, I am expecting between 100 and 150 people. I have three ideas, any input on which would be best in regards of ease of creation and guest appreciation would be great.

My first idea was to make coasters, I found this great idea on one of the wedding blogs I frequent on making coasters out of ceramic tile. They would be decorated in the colors of my wedding, but not personalized. I was thinking I could give each person two tied together with ribbon, so that couples would have a set of four.

Another idea I had, since I am having a beach themed reception, is to buy these little white buckets from Oriental Tradiing, they are about 1 1/2 inches wide and 2 inches tall, and filling them with salt water taffy. I would decorate the buckets with ribbon and a small starfish.

The last idea I had was baking chocolate chip cookies and putting them in bags. I was thinking of doing this and putting all the bags on a table for guests to take as they left... would that be too much with another favor?

Guests are already getting pinwheels or ribbon wands (their choice) at the ceremony and bubbles at the reception. Any input would be appreciated. TIA
