This is the dress for the girls and the color will be in Marine blue. I'm having a hard time finding blue flowers or even flowers I like in blue. I'm going with silk or fake flowers. I was just wondering if yellow would be a good color to pair with this color of blue.

For my bridal portraits, I got a small orchid attached to half of a comb to put in my hair (this will work better than a flower attached to a wire/pick since I am wearing my hair down and won't really have anything to stick the pick through). After being kept in the refrigerator for a day, the flower almost immediately fell off the comb. I want to wear a flower in my hair for the wedding but now I'm concerned about having trouble with it! Did anyone else run into a similar problem? Any suggestions/advice other than testing the glue when picking up the flower and having some super glue on hand? Can/should they attach the flower to the comb with a wire instead?

My mom and I are going to two floral consultations on Friday and I'm a little nervous. I don't really know what to expect! I am planning on bringing in some pictures of flowers I like. Should I have a list of what I need? I guess I just don't know what all they expect from me and what kind of information I'm going to get in terms of flowers and pricing.

Any insight from ladies who have already done this?

So I really want to do my own wedding flowers, and want to keep it easy, but I am having trouble deciding what flowers to use. I need your opinions. I want to use garden roses for my bouquet and lavender hydrangeas for my bridesmaids.Do you think a bouquet of white and light pink garden roses would look ok with the bridesmaids bouquets? My first thought is they just wouldn't look that great together and i'm afraid they if I kept them separate like that it just wouldn't flow right. So then I was thinking for my bouquet of mixing the white garden roses with lavender or white hydrangeas and keeping the bridesmaids with just hydrangea bouquets. PLEASE tell me what you all think!!!

I showed it to the florist that is doing my bouquet and she told me that it will be cheaper for me if I buy the feathers and jewels myself and bring them to her. How Many (Tulip) Stems In A Bouquet?

I'm trying to budget flowers (and scrape every penny off of the floor).

I was going to order tulips online, and do my own simple bouquets.

But how many stems are in a bridesmaid bouquet and how many in a bride? I can't visualize the fullness.

10? 12? 24?

I also have about 30 tables to put something on. If putting a vase of tulips on each one is out due to cost, I dunno if we'll have anything on there. It's not really necessary I guess.

Pomander and candle centerpieces?

Hi! This is my 1st post on the flowers board :) We're on a tight buget but, if possible, I'd like to incorporate some type of flower into our centerpieces. Our colors are black and white (damask tablecloths) and fuscia/magenta. I was thinking that large pomander centerpieces with smaller votives around it might work but I haven't seen any decent photos of this. I'd prefer to have the pomander on the table without a vase (I like the lower centerpieces). I honestly don't even know if this is cheaper than a regular floral arrangement. I suppose the backup plan would be an arrangement of candles? Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I am getting really frustrated!

I've seen gorgeous pictures of beautiful, simple, classic, DARK purple calla lily bouquets, and i can't seem to find what I'm looking for anywhere around here.

I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for my simple bridal bouquet, so i've been searching for real touch callas. I found the perfect ones from save-on-crafts.com, and they actually have in stock what they label as 14" Real Touch Purple Calla lily bouquet $14.99

and they look SO perfect for what I'm wanting!! '

I bought 3 bundles of them, to make my bouquet fuller, and to have a single one for my groom's bouttenierre. So excited -- got the package today. .

They are an incredible DISAPPOINTMENT. They are smaller than advertised, and they are a very light purple, which is pretty, but not at all what I need. To be perfectly honest, they look quite pathetic for a bridal bouquet, and I'm not sure what they have on their site, but its not what they sent me.

Does ANYONE have any idea where i can get real touch purple calla lilies?

Why have a florist?

Assuming I know what I want the bouquets and centerpieces to look like, what is the benefit of having a florist? Is there any benefit besides having someone to do the work of sticking flowers in vases? And how much more does it cost to have a florist vs. just ordering flowers. I know what flowers I want where and I don't want to hire an expensive florist if the only service I'm getting is her sticking flowers in vases for me.

The entire crop died in the blizzard that came and crashed through NJ over the weekend.

I got a fall from my florist today and she was very sad to tell me that my Dahlia's are a no go. So now I have Chrysanthemums and Gerbera Daisies still in my wedding and she wanted to know my opinion on Protea's (probably the smaller kind not the king size) and Cockscomb.

Hopefully they will all look fantastic together but I guess I'll see this weekend.

It just goes to show you that you can worry about things going wrong all you want, and you may think everything will go off without any problems- but something always happens, even a blizzard in October.

I have a big dilemma.

To give a brief overview, I do not care for flowers. I have a brooch bouquet for myself and my centerpieces for the reception does not include flowers. Now, the dilemma is can I exclude floral bouquets for my BM's and boutineers for my GM?? I know it is tradition to have them have bouquets and boutineers, but if I can do without them, then I would love an alternative idea.
