my fiancee and I are going to be getting married at Ocean Isle Beach. Now according theknot countdown there are 859 days until the wedding but I'm just trying to think ahead before I do some in depth planning and I was wondering which flowers would be the best..White daisies or lillies?

DIY Rose Bouqets/Boutineers

I want simple rose boquets (nothing else not even baby breath). Any recommendations on where to order the roses in bulk?
How far in advanced should I order the flowers? I was thinking of having them arrive Friday for a Sunday wedding.

I've never made boquets before, but I'm on a budget wedding, and I feel this is a good way to save $200/300.

Is there any easier flower to make bouqets out of than roses? Any tips on DIY are welcome!

Need to Vent a bit

Hey everyone, I need to vent for a little bit. I know I'm probably being oversensitive because I'm tired and I thought if I typed it all out I would be less annoyed.

I recently went to a bunch of flower appts with my mother and FMIL. Non of us live in the Austin area so we all had to travel (my mom is from out of state). Because we were all traveling, I let each flower place know that there was only one day that I could meet and people were really willing to work with me on appt times.

At one flower shop, the person we were supposed to meet with was unavailable when we arrived. The found someone else to talk with us which was fine. I was upfront in the very beginning about my budget (which I consider middle of the road). I ddin't know much about flower pricing so I brought in a bunch of pictures that I thought were pretty - both bigger more elaborate arraignments and much smaller arraignments. I asked the florist to help with suggestions keeping my budget in mind. Her suggestions were all the highest end, she even added quite a few things that I wasn't thinking of. I repeatedly asked her if all of the suggestions would fit into my budget and she said over and over that there was plenty of room in my budget and not to worry. At the end of the appt, she told me the original person that I was supposed to meet with would email me the completed proposal and we could go from there.

Today, I get a sort of snarky email from the original florist stating that my ideas were way outside of my budget and I needed to come back in so we could talk about more "reasonable" flower arraignments. He did not give me any sort of pricing on what the first florist suggested.

I guess I'm annoyed because I feel like they wasted my time. I was upfront from the beginning on what I could afford to spend and the email I got made me feel like that wasn't good enough. And I sort of feel like they didn't even bother to take the time to tell me what the original suggestions would cost.

I did find other florist who were great and I'm really looking forward to sorting through their different ideas but I'm left with how to respond to this person. Most of me thinks I should just tell them thanks but no thanks but I will admit there is a little part of me that feels like I should say something about wasting my time. What do you think.

Has anyone bought their paper flowers? I want to use them for my bouquet and my bridesmaids bouquets but I'm a little nervous since I'm buying online. I can't find any info on them online, good or bad, and I really don't want to spend $100 on paper flowers if they turn out to be of crappy quality.

Before you suggest it, I have already considered just buying 1 dozen, but their shipping rates go by how much you spend so it would be more expensive for me to just order 1 package. $10 bucks for just 1 pack of roses as compared to $16 for all of the roses and hydrangea that I want to use.

If you don't know anything about the site, do you have any idea where I could buy paper roses and Hydrangea for the same price ($10.50) if not cheaper, that you know sells items of good quality.

JSYK: the roses are 2" in diameter and the hydrangea is about 5"

I am having a small wedding out of town. I don't want to go through the trouble of going to visit a florist in the area of where my wedding will be so I'm thinking about ordering flowers online to save money and time.

Have you had any experience with this? If so, how was it?

Out of town wedding

I am getting married out of town but I would still like to use a florist where I'm from. How long will bouquets stay fresh? I was thinking about getting the flowers on Wednesday, traveling with them to our wedding location, and then the ceremony will be on Saturday. Is there a way I an keep the flowers looking nice and fresh for this long?? If not, I need to start looking for an out of town florist (which I rather not do) HELP!!!

Tropical bouquet pics

I'm having a really hard time finding any pictures of what I'd like my bouquet to look like, so I'm hoping you can help.

We're having a beach wedding, so I'd like to have a bright array of tropical-type flowers. Our favorites flowers are dahlias, peonies, lilies, and Birds of Paradise, but obviously anything in a more tropical direction is favored.

I am here to inform brides and grooms that weeding arrangements can actually be cheap. I looked up how much the average price would be for a weeding and it came out to be from $500-$800. Now the price usally depends on the specific flowers you want, and the size of the arrangement. Now all stores mark up the price of all flowers from 30%-100%. So my advice would be to go to as many stores you can and match prices because there many stores that charge double for flower arrangements. May stores offer the same flowers for lower price.

PRESERVING YOUR BOUQUET

If any upcoming brides in NY area have thought about preserving your bouquet- I would highly reccommend NOT choosing FOREVER IN BLOOM out of Mount Kisco NY to do so!
I was on my honeymoon when my mother in law dropped off to my florist to be shipped there and freeze dried. We were not given any paperwork, and I didnt know what my options were. I spoke to a receptionist 2x over the holidays, and I wanted to know what size shadow box I should look at, to fit my bouquet, etc because their website is designed so poorly and very limited. She had no answers.
I was so disgruntled that I said I would most likely take " just freeze dried" and I would call back with payment in January. I have been out of work, and interviewing, just purchased a home, amongst everything else that comes with being a newlywed,etc. So on this snow day- I went to pay over phone and have shipped to my florist, and the abrasive and rude owner ,Shelly told me it was thrown away, and said she had left voicemails for me(not the case). How could you just throw away a recent brides dream bouquet? Obviously it was sent there for a reason?You dont have storage for a bouquet? Maybe you should, if this is your business?
I have to look into why I was not given any paperpwork, as this is not over. Good Luck!

hello ladies! my colors are aubergine, ivory and black. The girls are wearing long aubergine dresses. I LOVE picasso calla lilies and the simplicity of one flower so that's what I picked for them. For me, I love the all white bouquet but wanted to add the calla lilies as well for a little color.

Do you think the combination is too bland? I'm thinking of maybe adding purple carnations to the girls bouquet too but I really like the calla lilies alone.

Mine wouldn't have the green going across or the all purple lilies-just the ones with purple in the center! :)

Budget, but not DIY

I'm trying to keep my floral budget as low as possible, but I'm not willing to DIY the bouquets or boutouneers - I've never done this before, I don't have any floral arranging skills/experience, and I know I'll be stressed enough the day before without having to add the risk of horribly messing up my bouquet!!

I'll gladly put together my own centerpiece or other floral arrangements - just not the bridal party stuff.

So - the question is - what sort of a minimum budget could I be looking at for the bridal party and VIP guests (bride, groom, 4 bridesmaids, 4 groomsmen, plus whatever mother/father of the bride/groom whatnot... I'm a bit lost - I don't even know what all I'll need).

The two pictures of bouquets I've seen so far and liked most are below. The first - I don't like those specific flowers, but I do like the all-white bouquet with the bright color running through. My colors are silver and teal (neither of which exist in flowers) so I would do a white bouquet with a sash of teal fabric "woven" in instead of the blue flowers used below. The second is a bouquet of flowers that aren't quite white - there are extremely pale yellows, greens, pinks... I like this idea, of a just off-white bouquet, that is actually very colorful, but so pale it looks white when combined together.

I'm really kinda lost here - I wasn't the girl who planned her wedding since she was 4 years old - but I do have lots of time. I will be married outside overlooking a vineyard this next August. I would greatly appreciate any help or pointers.

Rose petal aisle/ fifty flowers

I am interested in hearing from people who used fifty flowers rose petal packages. Which package did you get 6,000 or 12,000? I am wanting to do an aisle where its on the outer edge plus a petal toss for 100 people. I dont have a definite on how long the aisle will be because it will be outdoors but I dont think it would be more than 30 feet.

Trying to decide what kind of flowers I want to use for my wedding in August. I'm on a budget too... but mostly trying to root out what kinds of flowers might be nice and cheap in a simple bouquet that say "enchanted forest" -- I'm getting married in a beautiful redwood grove and I want that sort of dreamy enchanted foresty feel. :)

And colors too -- I'm thinking of some rich deep blue-purples but other than that, I got nothing. I'm thinking of pinks, and maybe some ... greenish blue? like robins'-egg blue?

Would a single rose for bridesmaids stand out enough in pictures?

One of my bridesmaids suggested having each of my 6 bridesmaids carry a single rose. If we do so, I was also thinking of having different shades of pink to pop out from their periwinkle dresses and wrap the stem with a ribbon bow.

I haven't been able to find any pictures of bridesmaids with single roses - I've only seen calla lilies. Do you have any pictures? Do you think it would work?

My fiance and I are currently looking for flowers for our wedding. I wanted to get other bride's opinions on these wedding flowers. If you think they will look right with the dress and the big question, does the price sound reasonable? I'm buying a "fake" flower package online, thinking that will be cheaper. The package is $275 shipping included.

1 Bride's Round bouquet (10" round)

7 Bridesmaid bouquets (8" round)
1 Toss bouquet (7" round)
1 Groom's boutonniere
6 groomsmen boutonnieres
3 Fathers boutonnieres
4 Mothers corsages

I attached a picture of the bouquet and also of the bridesmaid's dress. Dress is in fuchsia, but the picture online makes it look darker than what it really is. Do you think it will look right or is it too much pink? Thoughts?

Mixture of heights for Reception Tables

Looking for thoughts, advice as to what looks best for centerpieces on the reception tables. We will have between 15-18 tables in a good size room and were thinking of having three different kinds of centerpieces when it comes to sizes....all with the same flowers theme, but some simple with flower sprig submurged in hurricane shape, some arranged in low vases and some arranged on top of tall pilsner stye vases........
Any thoughts?
