I need major HELP with my flowers

Ok so here is the issue.... First off I am getting married June 3 2011 ( yay) Our " theme if you wanna call it that is Old hollywood but still todays time as well.... Our colors are Tiffany blue and black... I want the girls and the guys to have peacock fethers in thier flowers.. My dress is a light Ivry and I have NOT a clue what flowers will go! I dont like rosses other than that Im fine just not sure on what kind or color of flowers to use in theirs or mine...

we are going to meet with the florist for the last time to pick out the flowers for everything in 3 weeks and Im still stuck with NO ideas ...

If anyone can help me that would be great! thanks a bunch

Hey ladies, I'm usually over on the July 2011 board, but I wanted to see what you all thought about my flower question.

I plan on asking my florist of course, but how many flowers should I have in my bouquet and my girls bouquets? What about a mother's bouquet? We're doing all roses, so they should be fairly large and open.

Hi everyone this is my first post on the flower board I do believe. I am finally to flower planning and im stuck on possible flower options. I plan on using silk as im on a budget and im DIYing most of my flowers. Our wedding colors are navy, white, and silver. I plan on using my FAV flower calla lilies for my white but im having a hard time picking out flowers that are navy. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks ladies

Just wondering what you ladies are doing with your bouquets during the reception. My bouquet and my bridesmaids' bouquets are all quite large and will look like too much laid on the table during dinner... Any suggestions? I've heard of the bouquet holders that hang over the front of the table but I can't find any online! Need suggestions please!

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!! I used them for my wedding a few weeks ago and they cut so many corners to make a buck that I would NEVER recommend them to anyone again.

A) I specifically mentioned from day one I did not want topiaries for my centerpieces. Alex said he would make them more oval shaped but charge me more for that. I was fine with it. Wedding day, what do I get but topiaries, but am paying for oval shaped arrangements???

B) I specifically ordered a high gloss round dance floor from day-one! I know that was what I wanted. Day of wedding, square white dance floor I could have rented for $500 rather than $2500.

C) I paid for a full ballroom draped, what I got when I split the ballroom into two rooms was ¾ draped ballroom. I never got a refund for the entire ballroom being draped, nor did they bother to drape the entire room as discussed.

D) I specifically asked for thick bunch of roses in the garlands that I wanted for my ceremony (Indian). Day of, I get white orchids that are only slightly thicker than a regular single strand lei. Oh wait, he added a few shiny rhinestones to make up for the difference between thick roses garland and a maybe-double-strand lei. For the milani, I got single strand leis from La tulipe (OC) for $20 each and paid $130 for maybe a double strand from SQ. Nothing what I wanted!!

E) I specifically asked for aisle petals in peach which other florist like Neise and White Lilac cover in a thick design over the aisle. I got barely there strands in white.

F) I ordered 8 large arrangements. I am still waiting for confirmation from my photographer that they were actually there. My lighting person could not confirm seeing them and I have not seen them in the pictures I have so far.

Besides that I was overcharged by their assistant Sarah who at one point asked me to walk her through how to do the calculations on the invoice. Are you kidding me???

Please save yourself the trouble and money. Weddings are a onetime thing, do you really want to risk having things switched out on you the day of your wedding????? I can send pictures if you would like.

Alliums...anyone?

I've asked my florist and emailed a wholesale flower warehouse and haven't been able to get an answer on what alliums cost and whether they'll be available for my wedding in early April. Anyone get pricing on or use alliums? Anyone have a suggestion for an alternative? I'm planting wheat grass in steel planters and want just a few flowers with some impact.

Origami flowers?

Anyone else thought of this? I saw an ADORABLE wedding cake topper, it was totally customizable (hair color, skin tone, dress type) for like 100 dollars, and it was origami. I thought it was super neat, and I thought it might be nice to do a few tie-ins with it. So I was thinking.. instead of regular flowers and bouquets, what about origami ones? Ive seen some awesome bouquets online people have made, and then the bouquet wont wilt, go bad, etc. I could make it in my colors, and what ever flower I want... I could order them, or make them myself. Maybe spray delicious perfume on them after.

So, what does everyone else think? anyone else who's done this before? anyone know of anywhere you can order origami flowers?

Hey everyone! Ok...My wedding is in March, I have only been to one wedding in my life and really didn't help with the details. I have everything done except for flowers. I have no idea what to say to a florist, or what to ask them. I have no clue how to get started on deciding on flowers. My girls will be wearing lapis dresses from Davids & that is the accent color I'm using throughout the ceremony/reception...I just wanted to see how close these petals match up to that color?

Does anybody know how to make a DIY Cascading bouquet? Or can you point me towards a good tutorial?

I'm crafty and have plenty of time to master it so I'm not worried. I have made bridal bouquets in the past but never cascading and for my own wedding, I have my heart set on a cascading bouquet!

I met with the florist today. He said that he could make my boquet for $100-$120. Fair price I guess. Then I went to Wal-Mart and looked at their flowers...and realized that for $20 I could make my own boquet and have all the same flowers!

Today I was telling my mom and showing her a couple pictures of my DIY bouquets that a friend is making for me and she doesn't seem to like the fact that I'm not using real flowers for my bouquet and my bridesmaids bouquets.

My friend is making hand made satin flower/feather/brooch bouquets for us which I have seen many pictures of and love. I am doing it because I think it looks nice, I'm using all real flowers for everything else, I like the idea of myself and the bridesmaids being able to keep the bouquets after the wedding if they want to instead of flowers that will just wilt and die a day later, I don't think you can really tell in pictures that much, and oh it saves a little bit of money.

No real question here, just venting about trying to make my Mom see my vision a little and being understanding about what I like and want.

Does anybody else have a part of their wedding that they envision but are having a hard time helping others to see it? Is there something that you love, but others just don't "get" that you want to do?

Hi!

Perhaps a stupid question, but I have trouble finding the perfect bouqet to go with my dress.
The dress itself is strapless, with embellished embroidery on the bodice and has grand bustles drapig in the skirt (according to the brochure from the salon" :) )

I've been reading that you need this type of bouqet if the gow is embellished, another is it has bustles and so forth....

According to a few websites baby's breath is a floral symbol of everlasting love. I was thinking about having my bridesmaids carry a bouquet of them at my January wedding. I'm wondering if they are appropriate for the season and if they can hold as a bouuet on their own or should I pare them up with another flower like carnations?
