I have a question about the men's wedding band and who picked it out. My FI picked mine out completely by himself and it's beautiful, I had no idea what he was going to do or even that he was going to pop the question. I took him in to try on some different rings to see what he liked and have a good feel for it, but he never made a decision because he's all about saving money. I'm going to buy it and we both liked the same band, but should I confirm with him that it is what he wants? Did you make the ultimate decision on the band or did he pick it out?

Just for reference, every time his ring comes up he tells me to go to the dollar store. It's all about money with him, and yes, we can afford it.

Hi Everyone!

Long time lurker - first time poster.

I have purchased the Alfred Angelo Style 205 Cinderella Dress - in Diamond White. I'm having trouble deciding what kind of jewelry/accessories to wear. I'm going for a very formal and traditional look.

I was going to borrow a friend's veil, but it isn't the right color since her dress was very white. I'm planning to track down a veil that will match this - possibly from AA because I think they have one that is coordinated with the dress. Has anyone seen/used that?

The first thing that came to mind was pearls for the jewelry. Perhaps I would wear my Mom's set, which is very traditional. Or, I wasn't sure if I should find a new set with maybe a little bling. Like pearls mixed with sparkles, and find some drop earrings with pearls/stones. The dress has clear beading around the neckline - in a way that it sort of looks maybe a little sparkly, but my concern is that if I mix too many things (pearls/bling/beads), will it look funny? I'm wondering if people would clearly say "Oh wow, that is beading on the dress and bling in the jewelry!" Am I being crazy?

If anyone has any suggestions/advice on what accessories/jewelry might be good with this dress, I would really appreciate it!

I need some opinions. It's been 4 months since I bought my dress and from the day I bought it, I've been second guessing myself. It has satin, which I don't like for myself and I'm not crazy about the pattern on the bodice. I also don't like the neckline so I'm going to have them deepen the sweat heart if possible. I was told by the consultant the day I bought it they could, and was just told when I went in it'll be difficult to do. Anyway, I had been shopping with my mom, found a dress (Maggie Sottero Haven) that I loved, but it didn't have enough "bling." She lives 2 hours away so I took my personal attendant with me 3 days later to try it on again. I tried on the Maggie with belts, and didn't like it much. I was ready to buy the Maggie but then the consultant brings out a dress, Alfred Angelo 2448. It had the tulle of the Maggie, but also had some of the bling I was looking for. After trying it on, I got caught up in the moment and bought it. My dress came in and I went to try it on again 2 weeks ago and I didn't like it. I was scared to try it on because I was just hoping I'd like it more than the Maggie. Then, the first thing my mom said was "I'm trying to decide if I like it more than the other dress," which I knew she was disappointed I didn't get the Maggie but I didn't expect her to say that as I was standing there wearing my dress! A couple days ago I told my mom I wanted to go buy the Maggie, the store is having their annual sale on Maggie gowns so I can get it for a good price, but she isn't too happy with me & rightfully so. I could squeeze it into the budget, especially if I could sell my dress for even half of what I paid. My mom is now insisting that she likes this one more than the Maggie. I really do like the Maggie more, but I also could get past it and make mine work if I have to. I'm trying to make a rational decision because I only have until Monday to get the Maggie on sale & I'm coming up on 9 months til the wedding. I wondered what you guys thought. Should I go get the Maggie or keep the one I have?

So, my bridesmaids found a dress they liked online. We took everyone's measurements and ordered based on that. Every girl also sized up one size *just in case.* I ordered them all (they paid me) so we could save on shipping costs. Well, this weekend, they came over to try them on. NONE of them fit.

And I think it's more than a matter of slight alterations. One girl should have been a medium based on her measurements and their size chart. She ordered a large. It didn't fit. She even tried on another girls XL dress and that didn't fit either.

I've emailed the company to see if they will take them back. My issue is that they want matching dresses and we have Rockabilly theme. I can't seem to find a store in the Denver area that we can go to in order to try dresses on.

Suggestions?

Now that we are under the 7-month countdown, I'm starting to stress about my dress. Background is that I have lost about 60 pounds since June 2014 but am still quite big, street size 24. The last 7-8 months I have not lost very much weight so while I am still trying to focus on my health, I don't want to be overly optimistic about dropping sizes between now and the wedding.

I bought this dress from ModCloth when it went on close-out pricing (it cost $70): http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/sunrise-ceremony-dress. I absolutely love the simple, no train, lace style.

I bought it back in February when my weight loss was still on track and I thought I'd be a size 16-18 by the wedding, so I got it in a size 20. I can "fit" into this dress using the most technical sense of the term, but it does not look good and the silhouette makes me feel very uncomfortable. While I'd like to lose 30-50 pounds in the next 7 months, that may not happen, and even if it does, I still don't think the silhouette will be at a level I'm comfortable with by then. I know there is Spanx and I will look into that, but it only goes so far, plus I want to be really comfortable on my wedding day.

Having said all that, I'm now looking into a new dress and starting to get extremely anxious. I'm hoping to score something at a David's $99 sale depending on when that happens, but I think I could go up to $3-400 if I needed to. However, most dresses are far more formal and fancy that what I am interested in. I really like the simple A-line, no train, not a lot of pouf, appliques, beading, etc. with some kind of strap or sleeve. And, most of the simpler dresses are tea length or shorter, whereas I really want a long dress.

The emotions of being overweight and shopping for a wedding dress are already tough to deal with, but feeling like I can't find anything that matches what I'm looking for and needing to stay within a smaller budget is causing me to feel extremely panicked. I'm not that into fashion or shopping in my everyday life, and our wedding is pretty casual, but I still want to feel beautiful on my wedding day.

Anyone have advice for where to shop or styles of dresses to try? Thanks.

I don't even know what that means!
This is why it is rude and confusing to guests to list "attire" for a wedding if it is not a black tie event. When I attend a wedding, I normally wear a short cocktail dress (unless it's BT).
That, is the question.
Hello! So I ordered my dress for my wedding in 5 months (cutting it a bit close...). It's an A-Line. An Allure 2802. I had initially wanted a ballgown, but all ballgown's I tried on were too bulky/heavy for my shape and pricey. So I got all humble and went with the Allure 2802. I was thinking that I could put a petticoat under it to poof out the skirt more like a ballgown. I'm wondering if this will work, and if the dress has enough fabric for a petticoat, and if it would give the skirt the needed volume.
Any thoughts? Ideas?

could use some help.

1. Our venue is Carmel Valley, CA in a scenic winery/ranch.
Outdoor, early evening.

2. My thoughts (and available rental choice) is a medium
gray wedding suit from Men's Warehouse.

3. My fiance's dress is nearer the formal end of the
spectrum vs simple

I know I could pull off the gray suit with some really nice
brown leather shoes being that it's an outdoor wedding and it's more my style.
However, I know that you should compliment the bride. The bridesmaids will be
in blush. I'm okay with getting a darker gray tux if she wants it but I don't
think it'll fit as well with the venue and I like the brown shoes difference.

Hey, I'm getting married Nov. 2016 and for several reasons I won't be able to start dress shopping until July 2016. Will I still have a lot of choices? I'd only like to spend $600 to $800 ideally so does that put me out of the custom made dress game anyway? I don't mind buying off the rack but I would like to have a lot of options. Thanks!

Hey Ladies. I have been on here and asked for some suggestions of how to accessorize my dress. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed away last week, and I can't think of anything I want more for my "borrowed" than her pearls. I know I asked before, but would a single strand pearl necklace with pearl stud earrings look okay with this dress? I have been looking at belts that have some pearls with some bling mixed together, so the pearls wouldn't be just look "thrown in" if that makes sense.

Hi!

So my fiance and my mother purchased my ring together (she helped pick it out), using a stone that was my mom's. He reset it, and bought both the band and engagement ring together. My mom knew the manager, and so she got him a HUGE discount. I needed to get the ring appraised, so I brought to a fancier jewelry store near me. I went in and showed them the set, and asked about the appraisal. I also thought one of my prongs may be lifted, so asked if they thought it was. They said yes, and said it would be about $80 to fix it. I decided to bring it back to the original jeweler -- if it was lifted/incorrect, they should be the ones who fixed it. They fixed it, no charge.

About a month later, I went back to the second, fancier store for the appraisal. A different sales lady helped me, so she would have no idea about the past conversation. I asked that they check the prongs again. Yesterday, they called me and said the appraisal was finished, and that they did find some prong issues. They said "your stones are loose, and it will be between $60 and $80 to fix it". I clarified that they meant total, not per ring (they had my engagement and wedding band), and they said total.

Today they called and said it was done, and that the work (not including the appraisal) totaled $140. I told them this was different from what I had been quoted. The woman put the owner/jeweler on the phone, and he explained what happened -- he saw the prongs were uneven, so he pulled out the stone, and at that point, saw some additional soldering work needed to be done. This totally makes sense -- the more you take apart, the more you find. However, he didn't call me upon realizing that more work was needed, to warn me that it would be more money. I explained this to him, that I had been told X price and it was more, and he said that the place I had gone to, being a chain, is going to be more likely to produce errors like this because they are pushing out so much merchandise. What he did would last a lifetime, I would be very pleased, etc.

I totally get this, and I appreciate the quality of his work (as I saw in the store-- I have yet to pick up the rings), but am I wrong that I should have either been updated, and if not, he should lower the price even a bit? What should I do? I realize the importance of having strong prongs, hence having them repaired, and that his work will undoubtedly be better than a chain, but limited resources are limited resources. The rings I have could have never been purchased without the manager discount I was given. Would you bring up the conversation again, upon entering the store? I don't want to create a bad relationship with the jeweler, as the yelp reviews all talk about how he treats people well upon second and third visits (i.e. if the prongs had an issue again). ALSO would you bring the bill to the first jeweler? The manager is a good friend of my mother's and I don't want to cause a problem.

I am having major dress anxiety! Over the summer I went out dress shopping with no intention of buying my dress that day , went to a small bridal shop in my town with my daughter and tried on 3 dresses and absolutely fell in love with the last one and bought it on the spot (it was a sample dress on sale for 1/3 of the original price). I still adore my dress but after going to some wedding shows and watching say yes to the dress with my hubby he has stated multiple times that he absolutely despises the style dress I have (he never saw my dress). He would like a non strapless dress that covers my back (even though we are getting married on a beach) he also hates poofy/Ruffled bottoms. I showed him 10 dresses all different styles and asked him to rate them , he rated mine a zero! After seeing me get upset he now says he will love whatever I wear But now I have dress regret and now he has a pretty good idea of what my dress looks like! This weekend I went dress shopping again and fell in love with another dress, still strapless but can add a cap sleeve and even though the bottom is still poofy and is the more traditional look that he likes. My original dress cannot be returned and he was extremely happy that I bought it at a local business. The new dress is not carried by that shop so I would have to get it out of town. He knows I want to change my dress now and says it's silly because I got such a good deal the first time but knowing he hates the style I really want to change it. I have also tried on dresses that have the illusion tops or lace up top like he likes but hate them.
Pics of dresses are attached

Mori Lee 3194 - I fell in love with this dress but the person that was helping me at the wedding shop realized that it's a new dress that only comes in plus size right now. She said she would call and ask when they will start making it in other sizes and if they can make a smaller size for me... is this probable? I'm so nervous about it and I don't know whether I should get my hopes up. Or has anyone seen this or know if designers make other sizes fairly quickly?

Also, if I just order the smallest plus size they have (16) and I'm around a 14, how bad would that be for alterations?

http://www.morilee.com/bridals/julietta/3194
