I'm getting married in Santa Barbara, CA in March 2015. It's going to be an extremely small and low-key wedding - only allowed 25 in our space, including us! - and I've arranged for our photographer to come to my suite shortly before the ceremony and get a few "getting ready" photos of me and my four bridesmaids. I don't have the funds to buy a bunch of matching robes and I'm not keen on matching, personalized t-shirts... Do you ladies have any ideas for what kinds of outfits we could wear in the pictures (assuming we aren't already dressed)? I don't want to give my bridesmaids getting-ready-photo uniforms, but I would like to give them ideas of what to wear in case their pre-wedding looks are captured in any photos... any thoughts?

Hi Everyone!

I tried searching for this topic or something similar in the threads and didn't see much. This is my first post here and I'm hoping you can help! I am super stuck as to what I should do for my wedding shoes. I figure because of the style of my dress (below) I should not have shoes that are too clunky, and most brides that I have seen in this dress have beach weddings so they have sandals or are barefoot. I am not a fan of strappy shoes, and I need something with height because my fiance is easily a foot plus taller than me (wearing 3-4 inch heels just gets me to his shoulder).

I bought a pair of Chinese Laundry heels that I thought would be perfect but the color doesn't match (the shoes look dirty next to my dress) and they're too tight around my toes. If I can stretch the shoes out to fit me with a shoe horn/break them in, I considered dying/painting the shoes because I'd love to have a fun color pop under my dress, but my fiance thinks that's a bad idea even though my sister and bridesmaids like the idea. Other than these shoes, I am at a total loss. I have to start my fittings this month (January) so I need to find something quick but I don't know what to do.

Something else to note is that I don't want to spend a lot of money on my shoes because after all of the formal dances, etc. I am changing out of my dress into a lighter party dress my sister is making for me and changing into my cowboy boots (because that's more my thing).

Can anyone help me/give opinions on my ideas? I'm starting to really stress about it

Hello!

I'm wearing a knee length white dress suit for my wedding since this isn't my first marriage. I would like some suggestions for a hair do that won't make me look too old (I'm 38), professional or washed out. I'm a redhead, so I need some color around my face, especially with a white suit. I'm not using a veil, though open to other hair accessories. Do you think I could get away with keeping my hair long, or would an up do look better?

Thanks.

I am selling my never worn, never altered Allure dress style 2651 in color ivory/cafe. It is a label size 10. I bought this dress and it would not zip over my bust! However, I loved it so much that I ordered one size up in the exact same dress and it was perfect. This leaves me with a duplicate dress that was tried on once and put directly back into the box. I'd love to sell it to get some of my money back since I had to purchase two!! Paid $1300, asking $1000. The dress pictured is the exact same dress as I am selling. It has beautiful lace detail and scalloped hem and photographs beautifully! Email lindsay.hublar@gmail.com with questions/offers. Thanks!

I have my first fitting in three weeks - January 6th!! I am so excited. I've been dying to try my dress on again since I picked it up in October but have been patiently waiting.

When I tried on my dress my weight was X. We ordered my dress one size up from what I tried on because although the one I tried fit, it was a sample so slightly stretched out, and I could hardly sit. So the next size up (even though I planned on losing weight) is what we went with to be safe.

Since I picked out the dress, I have lost about 5-10lbs. I don't want to lose a LOT more weight before the wedding (March 28th) but wouldn't mind losing another 5-10. My dress is a corset, FWIW.

I know it's a broad generalization, but how does weight loss start effecting things once you start your fittings?? Again, I'm not planning to lose 30lbs after my first fitting, and I might not lose anything more, but just trying to get an idea...

I am having a bit of angst re: wedding bands and I'd appreciate some discussion and pretty pictures. Also my jeweler friend just had a baby and is a little preoccupied so I can't ask my local expert!

I love my engagement ring because it is nothing like what I'd have picked for myself. Simple white gold band, small stones, central ruby flanked with diamonds. However, I feel suffocated whenever I look at wedding bands to go with it. Conventional wisdom is that you should match the metals to keep wear down, but every time I look at what's available in white gold bands I feel disappointed. There are so many beautiful and unconventional bands out there, and I'm stuck with... this? I'm a huge tomboy, I don't want an elegant delicate little wisp of a ring.
I didn't think it would happen today!

One word of advice - if you find your dress, don't go try on more! I had two appointments today and found the dress at the first one. But I had a second appointment later in the day. Something told me to cancel it, but I didn't. So I went and found one there that I liked! So I ended up confused and frustrated. I went back to the first salon later in the day and ended up buying the first dress, but I still regret going to the second salon, it really made me question my first choice.

Anyways, I ended up choosing the Pronovias Ocumo dress. The picture of me is horrible, and we added the band but I'm not sure if I will add a band or leave it un-blingy.

Please do not order from UW Dress. The company is horrible to deal with. I ordered a dress for my sisters wedding and what I received was a joke. On trying to receive a refund they told me they would refund me $56 and keep the dress and sell it on Ebay to retain the rest of my money. They also advised me to take it to a tailor for repair at my on expense. I would never sell the horrible product to anyone. The quailty is bad and cheaply made. Below are pictures of what I received, what it was supposed to look like and my conversations with them. I paid $99.99 for the dress with shipping it totaled to $124.21 Thanks!

Per the cost information you provided, if you return the
dress to us, you will pay $24.75 for the shipping back. When we get the
returned dress, we will return you the amount subtracting the actual shipping
cost from us to you according to our return policy. The actual shipping cost
from us to you is $44.04, which was already paid to the courier, so it cannot
be returned to you though you paid us $124.21 totally. Then we will return you
$80.17 (=124.21-44.04)if you return the dress.

Though you get back $80.17 from us by returning the dress,
while you need to pay $24.75 to local courrier when shipping dress back, the
money is still paid by you right？So the ACTUAL money you get is
the amount $80.17 (which you get from us) minus the amount $24.75( which you pay
to local courrier) which equals $55.42(=80.17-24.75).

Thus I have a new suggestion. We can return you $56
directly while you still keep the dress you have. In this way, you actually get
back $56 which is greater than $55.42. You still have the dress. You can deal
with it as you please. Selling it online(ebay.com) may be a good choice because
it is new for selling and you can get back more money by this. I think this is
a better solution than returning the dress. How do you think of it ?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Looking forward to your reply. Thanks in advance.

If you have any further questions, feel free to let us know please.

Best Regards,

Here;s my questions:

Do you think the black skirt dress would look good for a wedding dress with a white skirt?

Do you think the black skirt dress would look good with more of a scoop neckline?

DO you think the actual wedding dress would look good being ankle length?

so after a year plus in the making, my dress is finally coming along..I purchased a couple dresses , but ended up having regret. so decided to have it made from scratch . I am 29 days away from my big day and i went for what i thought would be the final fitting last night.. However, straps need to be shortened due to weight loss and we changed the bustle.. so after much up and downs in both weight and changing design, purchasing fabrics and such here she is so far… i will add that the train goes about 6-8 feet behind the dress however this one was taken with it bustled. It is so much better and sparkly in person.. but I'm horrible at taking pics..

Okay so I went with the whole "everyone wear whatever they want" shtick. I picked a dark teal color and preferred long, satin dresses but my bridesmaids all wanted to go and try on dresses together. We went to David's Bridal first and they asked me and my sister/MOH (who is a wedding dress consultant) to pick out some dresses we thought would look good on them. I picked different styles, they tried them on, and they ended up picking the ones we thought they would. One of my BMs "Amy" loved her dress so much she didn't want to take it off.

Well recently Amy was talking about how she's in another wedding and that bride wants her to wear a specific 200 dollar dress (the dress for my wedding was 180). She said she's not upset about my dress costing that much at all but that this bride was just having a courthouse wedding and a reception the following week so she's not sure why she even needed bridesmaids or coordinating colors... but she also told me she had to borrow money from her mom to pay for my bridesmaids dress and that she's a little strapped for cash right now.

So now I feel really guilty like I forced them into the dresses when all I wanted was for them to pick them themselves. I'm terrified of being a bridezilla. So do you guys think I'm over thinking it or that I shouldn't have suggested that dress to her?

So my main concern is my belly. As you can see from the photos, there is a pooch there. Even if I suck in, there's a small (but noticeable) pooch at my lower abdomen, and since this dress is fitted, there's no way to hide it. I'm actively trying to lose weight but am on several medications that cause weight gain/increased appetite, so I've been unsuccessful so far. I am not wearing any undergarments in the photos (except for regular underwear -- no bra, though). I really want to use a waist cincher, but ones I have tried create unsightly back fat. An added complication is that, as you can see, the neckline and back of the gown are quite low, so it's been hard to find shapewear that is not visible. Any suggestions?? I'm freaking out!
Sorry the photos are sideways!
