Hello everyone! I found the Madison James 07 dress at a boutique and I loved it! However, the sample size that the store had was a 10. I am 5"2' and 102 pounds, so I just really couldn't get an idea of what the dress would look like on me. I have verrrry small shoulders, and I am concerned that the sleeves and neckline will overwhelm me even after it is altered. The model in the picture on the Allure website is very tall, so that didn't help either. Are there any real brides out there who would be willing to share their experience with this dress with me, or perhaps send me a picture of them in this dress?? I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks so much!! Again, its Madison James MJ07

But everything is okay now because we have stocked a large amount of materials after this. We promise that this won't happen again in the future."

To their credit, the samples were sent immediately, and I was given a partial refund. The samples are large enough to really see and feel the fabric. As you might expect and is usually the case, the colors online looked nothing like the actual colors.

I just ordered a dress from them for me to see what the quality is like. It's a lot of money to spend just to see what the dresses are like, but I think it's better than getting 8 dresses that are not of good quality!

I will let you know how it turns out!

AES

I am in need of some fellow bridal help. I have purchased a Maggie Sottero Arabella which I absolutely love. It hasn't arrived yet but with the wedding almost 5 months away, I am trying to get some purchases done. I have purchased a bridal hair piece from David's Bridal and I am conflicted whether to wear a necklace or not. I don't have an exact hair style in mind just yet, but my hair does horribly with curls so I am going to an updo. I am wearing a veil just for the ceremony and then removing it. I have a large bust so I want to wear a necklace to hide some of my chest, but I don't know how small or large to go. Any thoughts or suggestions?! Attached are pictures of my dress and head piece. Thank you in advance!!

Hello!

Got the call today that my dress is in! hooray! I've always thought I would wear my hair up as my hair really doesn't hold a curl well. I don't want to be fussing with it all day and worrying that its going to be flat and straight by pictures.

However, after purchasing the dress my mother made a comment how the dress didn't suit an up-do as she thought it would make my 'too bare' up top.

I'm not a huge jewelry person and the thought of a statement necklace kind of intimidates me. So I guess my question is, if I wear my hair up do you think that its necessary to wear a bigger necklace than the one in the pic, or suggestions as to other ways of accessorizing the dress.

(Sorry for the block over my face, I had a ridiculous expression.)

Extra info: I have naturally red hair that is mid back length. I am super short at 5' tall. I am not wearing heels, i've attached my shoes. The wedding colours are teal and fall colours.

While dress shopping this weekend, I fell in love with 2 dresses. I thought I made up my mind, but my mom has been HEAVILY pressuring me to change it. The issue? The 2nd choice dress appears to photograph better than my top choice dress. Keep in mind we were using my phone's camera (Galaxy S5), and the salon we took the photos of dress #1 in was very poorly lit and had almost no space, so it's not professional photography we're talking about.

So my question is: is how the dress photographed an issue that factored heavily into your decision making process on dresses? My mom was told "it doesn't matter if it looks better in person, its what it looks like in photographs" by her sister, and now she's pressuring me to think the same way.

The dress that's my top choice is a Jasmine Couture T162014. It'll be in champagne/gold, with ivory lace overlay. The illusion neckline will be removed, so it'll be a sweetheart neckline, although the lace appliques will still pop above the neckline a little (the seamstress walked me through how they'd do it). It's stunning--the exact shape, color, and waistline I was looking for. It has a very elegant look. In pictures though, the elements that make it stunning in person (e.g. detailed beading and crystals on the lace) do not appear so well.

My second choice was Justin Alexander 8766. Champagne dress with ivory chantilly lace overlay. The only thing I do not love about the dress is where the waist sits--the belt is high up. The dress gives me more of a "sweet and ethereal" look, which is not really the feeling I'm going for. But because of the VERY shiny belt and soft lace, it photographs great.

Here are the 2 dresses on me (hopefully the link works--I used dropbox). Looks like dropbox reverses the photos, so the left one is dress #2, the right one is dress #1. And apologies for my face and posture in them. For #1--it's my "I want to cry but am holding it in face", and in dress #2 I was kinda angry since it was maybe the 30th photo my mom took of me in the dress and I really had to use the restroom.

Thoughts? Does my mom have a point, or should I go with the one that I found to be more stunning in person?

I recently picked up my wedding dress from the bridal salon and decided that adding straps was the way to go. However the strap samples they showed me were all around 1000$ which i think is way to expensive for 2 pieces of fabric. Does anyone have suggestions for other places to go to buy wedding dress straps that are more reasonable priced but still look nice?

Thanks for the help!

Ellie

This is more of a vent post and to see if anyone else has had this happen or know of it happening.

I e-mailed all of my bridesmaids in early July the dress I had picked out. See 1st and 2nd photo. (2nd is the actual color - cornflower)

I told them this particular color with this dress is a special cut and will take extra time to come in and asked that they have it ordered by September 6 to make sure it comes in and they have time for alterations.

I have a matron and maid of honor, and 3 bridesmaids. They were all going to wear the same dress.

Fast forward to October 25. One of my bridesmaids asked that I go with her to order her dress. Sure, no problem. We get there and get her measured and go to order it. Even with expediting it, it is not set to come in until 5 days before my wedding. Okay, no big deal...they usually come in a little early right? Well, I ask the sales lady who all had already ordered to make sure everyone else had. (I honestly thought this girl was the last one.) Turns out, there is another bridesmaid who had not ordered her dress yet. So I let her know the issue and try to not be mean when I offer to pay for her dress and she can pay me back later. She politely declines and I and take a deep breath.

Well, last weekend, November 8, I get a frantic phone call from this last bridesmaid saying that the dress cannot come in on time for the wedding, even with rush shipping and such. I had been expecting this, but had been hoping for the best. Anyways, I'll cut to the chase. I just happened to be on my way to the store when she called and my fiance and I had to pick out an entirely new dress for her to wear. (remember, she is not a maid or matron of honor.) We were very limited on the selection since the color does not come in a lot of the dresses. We chose the 3rd photo below. (Shown in the cornflower as well). I am not going to tell her she cannot be in the wedding and in all honesty, I may be upset but I know in the end, on the day of all that really matters is that I am getting to marry the man of my dreams and best friend.

Has this situation ever happened to anyone else? Has anyone seen this happen in another wedding?

To answer a few questions I can foresee: No, I could not have her wear a dress that the maid or matron of honor had already ordered and have the MOH wear the new dress, (the sizes are way off). And no, I was not going to ask everyone to buy a new dress or change my color or buy all new dresses myself because I can't afford that.

They will be wearing pashmina shawls for the ceremony, so maybe that'll help? It's a winter wedding. (They weren't going to originally, but now I think they have to.) The girl was VERY VERY apologetic and even offered to step out, but I was not going to let that happen.

Am I crazy?

Honestly, the ones in the photo were THEE ones but there was a lot of factors going against it. I have been trying to research chunky heels but they're all really low heels that almost look like shoes my mother would wear OR they're super high pole/disco shoes. Ideally 4-5 inches would be perfect.
