It is a bit more of a light champagne than my bathroom lighting really captures.

I am thinking a finger tip or elbow length veil, a belt, a necklace and a cuff may be in order.

My current thinking on my bridal party is probably just my sister as my MOH, and I want her to have a fair amount of discretion on what she wears, but I'm thinking deep purple or a dusty blue.
I am considering buying a bridesmaid dress on Tradesy.com. Do any of you have any experience with this site, good or bad? I'm wondering if this is a legit site. Is there a difference between buying a used dress from a private seller vs buying a new dress from one of the "boutiques" selling through the site? I found a dress that would be perfect if it truly is as advertised, but I'm wondering if the selling "boutique" could be a knock-off maker from China. It says that it ships from the USA and I googled around and didn't find much. With the "no return" policy, I thought I would ask before I took the plunge and ordered it. Any experiences or advice that you have would be helpful. Thanks!

For the bridal party, I have decided to go with either shades of blue (or possibly purple) so each BM can pick a shade that suits her best, but am stuck on fabric. The Watters Farah gown I will wear is fairly streamline with a lace under-layer, and tulle over-layer. Our wedding is outdoor in late March in Austin, TX, and I'm sold on floor-length dresses. The groomsmen will likely be in suits, rather than tuxes, and we have a woodland theme.

My main concerns are:

1) Would it be too much tulle if all the BMs are in tulle dresses if my dress has tulle (+a long veil)?

2) Will my BMs hate the fabric and be uncomfortable?

3) Is the Jenny Yoo Annabelle tulle dress even worth the price ($260+)?

I just want everyone to look nice and the dresses to all go together, but I have six ladies, and want to have 2-3 options so that each can pick something that suits their style. Everyone I have asked just tells me that I can pick whatever I want, but that isn't the issue! I was pretty much sold on the floor length Jenny Yoo convertible tulle dress, "The Annabelle" (Nordstrom and BHLDN), because it comes in several shades of blue and purple. But when two of my BMs tried it on, they didn't seem fond of the tulle, which made me realize it probably isn't' the most practical fabric in the world.

Thoughts? Does any one have experience with the Annabelle dress or tulle BM dresses? Should I play it safe and go with chiffon instead? I feel totally lost every time I sit down and try to decide...
My bridal life would be so much simpler if my dress just had gold embroidery, but it doesn't - it has pewter. My bridesmaids are wearing sparkly gold dresses, my wedding colors are gold and ivory. My shoes are a light metallic gold and they look nice with the dress - which is ivory. I've also decided to give a go at making a jewelry bouquet. The bouquet is not finished - I still need to do something wit the underside and maybe trim the flowers down in some spots. I showed my fiance and he said it looks cool, with a bit of a 20's vibe....not sure that goes with my dress though.

Question: Does my bouquet (which is still a work in progress) look ok with my dress (or is that even a thing that matters?)

Question 2: I want to wear the clip in the photo - I think the gold might be too yellow, should I just get the silver metal? Same question with earrings and a bracelet - I want to have lots of either pearls or sparkly rhinestones in my jewelry, but I need to pick a metal - should it be gold or silver?

I inherited my Great Grandma's ring and I'm torn trying to decide what I want to do with it. It is about 80 years old, so there's a lot of history and meaning to it. My Great Grandma gave my Mother the ring, to give to me when I was old enough. She passed away 10 years ago and my Mother wore the ring until she passed away from cancer last year. I was very close to both my Great Grandma and my Mother, so it has a lot of meaning to me. I have considered my options and in my opinion I can either: a) take out the diamond and put it in a new setting OR b) leave the ring as is and buy a completely new ring. I absolutely love the look of the ring as is, but the issue is that it is not my own. I have my mind set on a yellow gold ring and my boyfriend would be okay with me using the diamond as long as he could pick out the setting. Wearing the ring as is for my engagement ring is not an option for me because I know that my boyfriend would not feel connected to my ring, since it is not even from his family. If we were to buy a new ring our budget would be about $5000, so it wouldn't even be comparable to my Great Grandma's ring. I also have the issue of choosing a setting that matches the diamond if I decide to take it out, since it is a very antique cut and would not match modern settings.

Hi everyone,

I need some opinions on a scenario that occurred with my dress when I ordered from the salon. (And, I also want to describe my situation in case other brides are thinking about doing the same with a similar design of dress). It's a mermaid dress and has beading at the neckline (which is a sweetheart neckline, so the beading goes into a "V" shape) AND beading at the waist. On the sample I tried at the salon (below picture) you can see there was a small area of material/space between the two beading designs (the point of the "V" did not touch the beading at the waist).

My consultant recommended I get the hollow to hem measurement done so the length could be altered right away (and because it's a lace dress). Me, having no prior knowledge of how this is done or other options for altering the length, agreed.

Well, I now know that the hollow to hem alteration is done for a lace dress by taking the material out of the bodice. Considering the beading I had on my dress, the "V" of the neckline beading now TOUCHES the beading at the waist (see actual dress received below). On top of that, this makes the dress sit lower on my torso, giving "bustier" look than the sample and most importantly, not feeling as secure up there. (I don't think it looks "bad", just different than what I originally saw and because it affects fit as well, it's even more frustrating).

My tailor is trying to help adjust - which really just amounts to tightening the bodice area to make it more secure as material can't be added back in - and trying to pull the dress upward on my torso to adjust the waist beading down (which was my original thought) won't work since the mermaid design is so specifically contoured to start.

I guess my prompt to you all is if I have a right to be frustrated with the salon for recommending something like that for a dress that has that type of beading at the bodice (my tailor has said he could hem from the bottom if I needed it). I would have complained about it more before I took the dress out of the store had I known that the tailor couldn't fix/adjust the bodice issues I saw in store (which they repeatedly said he should be able to - this is a tailor they recommend all their brides go to). Now I fear that the tailor won't be able to make it fit correctly, and that I'm screwed in terms of being able to complain to the salon since I already signed the receipt and took it out of the store. But again, I would have never done that if I knew the tailor really couldn't change those things.

I've sent an email to the corporate office of the salon, but haven't received a reply. My wedding is in December, and my dress took 5 months to come the first time - I would LOVE if they would just re-order my dress WITHOUT the hollow to hem and put a rush on it for my trouble. But, not holding my breath. Sucks you only have one chance to do this stuff right, so if anything else, I hope other brides find this helpful if they are also considering a dress with bodice detailing.

EDIT FOR UPDATE (figured that was better than starting yet another thread):

Ok, so, still unsure about the dress I had posted (pictures of me in it in a post below). I did some more internet browsing and ordered a mermaid without the beading and also decided to actually try going into a bridal salon to try on one particular Watters gown I have been coveting. I tried on a bunch with the help of the store owner who was very helpful. The Watters was definitely better than any others I tried on but I planned to not commit to anything then and stuck to my guns. Then I got home and the Badgley Mischka mermaid I had ordered and tried that on. I am surprised, but I think this is the one. I have a strong desire to even go put it on again right now. I randomly paired it with a gold belt to try it on and even that is kind of working I think. The size is too small to zip all the way so I've gone ahead and ordered one size up (good thing all these online dresses are so easy to return).

Tell me what you all think!

END EDIT (Except for pictures, below).

My wedding is in about 7 months. I ordered this dress from Ann Taylor: http://www.anntaylor.com/gemstone-yoke-trumpet-gown/334309?colorExplode=false&skuId=15542182&catid=cata000034&productPageType=fullPriceProducts&defaultColor=0355

I ordered it when it was 40% off so it is definitely in my budget and I also have room in the budget for $300 in alterations, which I think should be enough.

I got it and tried it on yesterday. It does run quite big. The hip area will need to be taken in regardless of if I go down a size. My rib cage is freakishly large. I think it is even a bit big through there as I was able to turn the dress to the front, zip it most of the way (the zipper is tricky because of the fabric, and then turn it back around to get into it myself.

I want to post some pictures of me in it but can't get it to work.

I am going to get some second opinions from friends on the dress and probably exchange for one size down, and probably also take it to a seamstress to look at, but I feel like strangers on the internet will be honest with me and may have more experience with dress alterations:

1. The dress has fancy beading stuff on the chest area. I don't know that I want to keep that, my temptation would be to have a seamstress take all that mesh out and add cap sleeves with the extra mesh. The detail is pretty but I think I'd rather find my own necklace and also belt it with something glittery and don't want to have to worry about matching to that design. I also find cap sleeves, halters, and strapless to be more flattering with my build. Is it nonsense to buy a dress that I want to alter this much? I feel like that is normal with a wedding dress but want some input.

2. The dress has some interesting darting and details on the mesh that I would want preserved even though it needs to come in quite a bit through the hips. Is that something others have experience with?

Hi! So today I went wedding dress shopping and thought I found a dress I liked and put the down payment on. After leaving I began to question my decision. I think I felt pressured to get it bc my family loves it and the people at the store asked. After thinking about it and looking at the pictures it's definitely not me and I don't think I would be happy in it. Is it too late? Am I stuck with this dress? If I call the facility and explain would they offer a refund? Wedding is a year away and no alterations were done (it was a sample gown)

Groom is renting tux and wants to pay for best man's rental because he's not sure the best man will know what to wear and insure they look great. I just got in touch with groomsman's wife and she didn't know he was in the bridal party. She tells me he will wear a navy suit. The two other men are in black. I diplomatically told her we have his name on file and even suggested he wear a black suit if renting isn't an option. We cannot pay for all the suit rentals. Should I let my fiancé talk to the guys. They have also offered discounts I told her as well. I talked my fiancée about it and he doesn't see the difference between black and navy. My bridesmaid and MOH are going to be in the same colour and buying thier own dresses.
