Shoes Don't Fit!

I bought beautiful shoes from David's Bridal in November when I bought my wedding dress - they're red and give perfect pop of colour. And they fit like a charm when I tried them on and walked around the store in them.

It was Winter then, and I'm sure that boots and socks made my feet swell a little from the warmth... but now that it's Summer (finally!), I'm pretty much slipping out of them whenever I wear them around our apartment to break them in (probably not my smartest choice, considering we get married in 40-some days).

I have Dr. Scholl's heel & ball of the foot pads in them because I have sensitive skin and blister VERY easily, and they're fabric (a satin-like finish, as opposed to a moleskin finish, or the gels). That said... has anyone else had a problem with the fabric pads? Has anyone had better luck with the gel pads or moleskin? I have an alternate pair of shoes (strappy wedge sandals that are much lower), but I'd love to wear these ones as long as possible on our wedding day and not just for pictures!

Any suggestions would be great

Hi all! I am almost at the point where I will be asking my bridesmaids to be in my wedding, but before I do I would really like to have an IDEA of the type of dress I would like them to wear. I'm always concerned about price. I've been in a few weddings with bridesmaid dresses of very different price points. Inexpensive dresses and expensive dresses both have their pros and cons. I'm just curious what you chose to go with. Quality and the absolute perfect look, or price. How did you decide? And what is considered "expensive" for a bridesmaid dress to you?

I am getting married on 12/19/15 and I have been trying to figure out what type of dress would be best for the time of year we are doing this. We live in TX so we don't exactly have "cold" weather so a long-sleeved dress with heavy fabric would be a no-go. I am clueless and would love any type of input you have or suggestions. I am very short (4'11) and petite (size 2-4 depending) so I don't want anything that would overwhelm me. The guys are all wearing charcoal grey suits with bow-ties and red shirts.

I'm in love with this dress! But, for what I think are obvious reasons, I'm nervous to buy a $400 dress from China. So now what? I found a local designer that said she could make the dress for $1,400 (I could also have the cost reduced by switching out some fabric if I choose). If the original is somewhere around $1,500, I would absolutley order that. I know this is my dress! I just need to figure out how to get it . . .

Wedding Bands: Do we really need them?

I found my perfect dress today. Seriously, it's so beautiful. Everything Ive always wanted in a dress. Ethereal, romantic and most importantly, it actually looks good on me.

However, it's 1800 and it's a little outside my price range for a dress that I'm only going to wear once. My mother is paying for it but I still can't imagine shelling that much dough out for a dress I'm only going to wear one time, even if it is THE perfect dress of all time.

It is Sottero and Midgley, Anastasia gown.

I've been really considering letting my BMs pick out their own style gown (as long as it's lilac, chiffon and long). I was already planning on letting them pick their own shoes aslong as they were silver. But i'm curious as to what to do about jewelry? I looked up pictures on Pinterest previously to get ideas and I seen alot of the girls didn't wear necklaces. Which is fine, but I kinda felt like it didn't look "complete" to me. But necklaces also depend on the style of the dress.. My BMs are all different and I just want them to find things they are comfortable in.

So i'd like to hear some opinions from brides who have done the mix match route! TIA

So before trying on dresses I knew exactly what I wanted: an off white, trumpet lace gown, 3/4 sleeves, slightly off the shoulder, and buttons down the back. I wanted somewhat of a vintage/classy dress with a modern twist. So I called David's bridal and made an appointment to try on dresses and they suggested to look at their website so I would be able to show them dresses I liked when I came to my appointment. They had hardly ANY dresses with longer sleeves. Thankfully I found a dress SORT OF like what I wanted for the top. I figured it was close enough so I'd be fine with not getting the exact style I wanted. So I went to my appointment and my consultant asked me what style I wanted and I said trumpet and asked about longer sleeves and she said they didn't really have them. I showed her a few dresses I found online that I had wanted to try on and of course, THE MAIN DRESS I wanted to try on, they didn't have in my size and I believe they can't even order it. I was soooo bummed. So the second dress I really liked, they had, which I was happy about... The only thing about this dress was that even online the dress on the model looked kind of baggy/frumpy. The top half looked beautiful on the model but it didnt give her any shape and the bottom looked like a pile of material they just gave up on. It wasn't fitted like I wanted but I thought "Hey maybe on me it will look different than a model!" The sales assistant even showed me the dress on a mannequin and I loved all the detailing on it! So I end up picking out 8 dresses to try on and I tried on a random dress my cousin wanted to see on me and I did not like it! The second dress was the one I really liked but I wasn't completely sure about, And I really wanted to see on me so I tried it on and I fell in love! It wasn't my exact size so they clipped it in the back to give me some shape, And because it was the only dress they had to clip to look more fitted I have no idea what it's suppose to look like on me! All the other dresses I tried on gave me so much shape! But this dress for whatever reason did nothing for me. I have an hourglass shape but this dress makes me look like an ironing board. Yet when I had it on I felt beautiful! I kept looking in the mirror, I felt like a princess, and every dress I tried on after just didn't compare. It felt classy and elegant just like I wanted, but it wasn't the right fit or exact look I wanted and the bottom annoyed me like I thought it would. They said once its hemmed that it won't be that way, but even the spot that it hits when it starts to flare out makes me look short, I feel like it needs to start a few inches below. . I think it would be the perfect dress except for those few things. I found a dress that looked way better on me but it was strapless and I felt like I was going to prom and not my wedding, so I ruled it out even though everyone loved it. After trying on all the dresses I said I think I wanted the second dress. So they put me back into the dress to see it on me one more time and I still loved it the best and said yes to the dress. So now my problem is I keep wanting the fit off the prom looking dress with the look of the top half of the second dress. I love my dress! But because it was the only dress that didn't fit me properly I'm having doubts. I was happy until I got home and saw the photos of me in the dress. I'm so worried its going to look awful in photos. I'm worried because in other photos of women that bought the dress I bought, the women look frumpy. It doesn't give any of them shape. And the bottom looks awful in all the photos I've seen. If the model that they use doesn't even look that great... How can I? I feel like my dress looks better in a window than on anyone. Plus it's not really what I first wanted. Please share your thoughts on what you think I should do, or how it looks.

Dress Anxiety (Vent)

I dropped my dress off at my tailor of choice back in mid-February for some pretty serious changes.

More or less they are taking in the sides, but also taking the inner two layers out of another dress and putting them into my dress in order to give it a little more fullness and length. Although I have seen a lot of work these ladies have done and it's all been really stunning I can't help but have anxiety over my dress. I just keep thinking - what if I go to my first fitting and I don't like it? What if it looks patchwork? Will I be able to find another dress and be able to afford it after buying one and spending all this money on alterations?

UGH!

My first appointment after dropping my dress of in February isn't until June 28th. I wish it would get here already so I can see the dress and stop worrying too much. (or start shopping for a different dress if they did a total hack job on mine!)

Does anyone else out there suffer from serious vendor-trust issues?? I have similar anxieties about my DJ not showing up or my photographer forgetting to take the lens cover off and not getting any pictures, etc. Maybe I am just a nutcase. lol

Accessories before dress?

I won't bore you with all the details I've said in other posts but to sum it up, I'm pregnant, due 4.5 months before wedding, and am thinking to postpone dress shopping until after baby.

I don't want to wait this long for all of my attire though. I know basically what I want to do with my hair regardless of gown. Sometimes I think the jewelry, shoes, hairpiece depend on the gown. But then I see things I like and think I'd like it with just about any dress. Did any body else buy their accessories before the dress?

I love the look of mismatched bridesmaids dresses, where each girl is wearing something different, and this idea is looking more and more spectacular seeing as one of my bridesmaids plans to be either almost 6 months pregnant or having just had a baby, and two of my bridesmaids live out of town. It seems like it might just be easier to call them all and be like, "alright - black. chiffon floor length. Go!" and let them pick something. Or should I pick them and assign them! How do I do this? Help!

Would it just be easier to do what we did for a friends wedding? - all of the bridesmaids agreed on a loose, flowy chiffon empire dress that was very forgiving on the pregnant bridesmaid and looked great on all of us.

A BM of mine mentioned that a store near her carries the same line of dress I want to go with (we live 10 hours apart), and if she buys it there, the alterations are free. If my other BM's get their dress from one store, and she gets her's there, would that work? I've heard that sometimes the color can be off if they are not from the same dye. Not sure if that is accurate or not. Thanks!

I just found this site through Facebook. I think it would be a nice economical way to buy some dresses for the shower, rehearsal dinner, ect (dresses that I will have to buy and probably never wear again). Has anyone used the site before? I think $30 is pretty decent for a nice dress, but I wasn't sure of the condition of the dresses or accessories before you get them. Or does anyone know of any similar sites that they trust? I like the idea of it, I'm just wary of the process. Thanks!

I know I sound silly, i'm just gonna get that out of the way first. I'm getting married May 2015, I plan to purchase my dress in November for a few different reasons. However, i'm really ALL of the place in what I want, so i'd like to get some ideas before going that day just to be prepared. My Mom asked me if i'd like to go try on dresses at the end of the week, and I do don't get me wrong. But I KNOW I have no intention of buying a dress that day, and I feel horrible wasting the time of the sales associate. It might be because I worked in retail for 7years, or i'm just overly sensitive. Please tell me i'm not the only one who felt this way?? I'm anxious about going because i'm so worried about letting someone down by not purchasing a dress.

So I tried on dresses for the first time yesterday. I fell in LOVE with a beautiful ball gown that I would had never pictured. But, its $1,000. I know, that's cheap in comparison to some. But our whole wedding is about 6000 so a $1000 seems high. My dad is buying it and wants me to get what I want without checking prices. But I feel like a grand for a dress I'll wear 8 hours is insane no matter how rich someone is! How much of your total budget did your dress take up?

Hello I'm getting married this August and am trying to figure out what type of shoes I should wear! I'm a little taller than my fiancé and sometimes I feel self conscious about it so I'm not sure about heels.. Our wedding is going to be outside, casual, simple and sweet, natural with a bohemian flare and my dress is short, about knee length and off white, flowy, "Free People" style. I want to wear heels because I think that looks best with shorter dresses, but I don't want to be towering over him. Thanks for your help and input!

So I really love both gowns on me. They are Maggie Sottero gowns, first one is Taledga (http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=31813), second one - Tasha (http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=3MW780). I absolutely love how they look on me and first one makes me feel really bridal, but I also adore the back of the second one. And I just can't make the decision! So, my concerns: the first one seems a little bit too plain, there's a small piece of lace and beading on the corset but that's it; the second one has unsual waist line and I can't really decide whether I like it or not (and don't look at that weird knot on the back - it's just a corset ribbon with a price tag).
So I would really appreciate your fair opinions, ladies!

My bridesmaids are all shapes and sizes and would love to have the option of having different cuts, but any suggestions on how to do this? So I decided to do a navy blue, blush, gold and ivory wedding. And I want the guys to wear navy blue suits but I also want my bridesmaids to wear navy blue dresses with my Maid of honor in the same dress but in champagne, my matron of honor in blush and my co maid of honor. Yes I have a co, to wear petal pink. But I am so torn wondering if it's tooo much navy.

So I ordered a dress from davids bridal because they didn't have what I wanted and I couldn't afford to look else where. Now I found out they have new dresses in and they have the exact style I want and I'm willing to pay the price difference, but I don't know if they will let me switch out the dresses. I don't know if they've got my dress in yet, and there haven't been any alterations. It's just been ordered. Has anyone ever been able to switch dresses?

Soooo my FMIL is taking our engagement pics, and we are doing them two weeks from today. I do not have cute clothes. I have work clothes, and I don't have any nice jeans at all (long story; still hoping to replace before the pictures but not expecting to have the chance). My current best option is this:

...except it's blue. Apparently the blue one doesn't exist any more. Anyway, the other options are all either less nice (read: an outfit I've considered is a black scoop-neck tee and pink shorts, both from Old Navy), or work clothes. I *really* don't want to take my engagement pictures in my work clothes... but right now I don't even know what I should look at buying. If I have any extra it will be $45-$60.

ANYONE got some ideas? I really have no idea what to even do... and it's really bothering me. I'm 5'1" and a chunky chunk (XLs, size 14/16 shorts).
