I found my dress today - #5 of 5 dresses I tried.. I didn't want to take it off so I knew. I'm in love. It's a Sottero and Midgley. The last pic is without the belt, but I think I like the belt for sure. It ended up being nothing I would've picked for myself, and it was the consultant's pick! Very true when everyone says don't rule anything out. It was so much fun. Just had to brag!!

So I had my first fitting last night - the first time I saw my dress since I bought it in October! It was a great experience. The seamstress is very seasoned and I trust in her ability.

Since I ordered the dress in October, I've lost a dress size and my dress swam on me last night. My goal weight would put me down another dress size. So here is the question.

My wedding is in mid-September. My next fitting is july 20th. The seamstress said she would not change the alterations quote she gave me for any weight that I lose between now and that fitting; however if I continue to lose significant weight after that fitting, she would have to readjust the price, since it would mean a second round of physical alterations for her (right now the dress is just pinned).

In your collective experience, do you think it's best that I push this next appointment out another 2 weeks? It won't be an issue with timing in terms of the seamstress being able to physically complete the alterations (will call to confirm this today), and it would give me some more time. I figure by August, I'll be in maintenance mode with my diet and there won't be any drastic alterations needed.

Can anyone think of any reasons I shouldn't push it out two weeks, as long as the shop confirms it won't be an issue in terms of their workload?

Thanks in advance everyone

This seems perfect and I love it soooo much. OMG. It covers my fat in all the right places which is so important. It's like a soft nightgown LOL. It just happens to be the Disney Princess Jasmine gown from Alfred Angelo which is funny since I work so closely with Disney on my blog. But I don't care about that type of thing at all, it just made me laugh. But I just think it is absolutely perfect for the 10 year renewal, formal event, mature dress. No train, I'll have it removed completely. What do you think? Obviously I didn't buy it, but I've gone back twice to look.

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately, I'm having a lot of trouble getting my wedding dress to look right. It is a fitted Maggie Sottero dress that has straps that sit just off my shoulders. The problem is that the darts on the dress are so stiff that it makes my chest look very pointy. The seamstress who did alterations on the straps told me there is nothing she can do without deconstructing the dress. That idea is scary by itself, but with my wedding 3 weeks away it really isn't an option.

Any suggestions on how to smooth the darts?

I have had 4 appointments for dress shopping and probably tried at least 30 different dresses. With each appointment, I leave with a new favourite in mind and then spend the time between the next appointment finding reasons it doesn't work for my wedding or for me. So this is the struggle that plays in my head when I'm trying dresses on:

- Mermaid trumpet and fit-and-flare look the best on my body, hug my curves in all the right places. BUT my wedding is in a backyard in Palm Springs so the fabric needs to be light so I don't pass out from heat exhaustion.

- I'm having a really hard time picking between modern and vintage, because there are elements of both in my wedding.

- I know I will find many dresses that look beautiful on me, but I need to find one that looks beautiful on me AND works for the venue. But then I think, screw it, it's my wedding day so if I want I can be over-dressed for a backyard wedding.

- I had a "this is the one" moment with a girlfriend when she was shopping for her dress years ago, so I kinda expected to feel that during my own wedding dress shopping experience but so far, no luck.

I guess I just need assurance from other brides that I'll eventually find something. I came home tonight so frustrated and more conflicted and confused than ever. As much fun as trying different dresses on is, I wish I felt like I was making progress or something.

Hi ladies, I am new here and probably sounding quite desperate, I apologize. I really need some reassurance on my dress choice. My wedding is less than 3 weeks away and I posted my dress on another site and got some really negative feedback and I am feeling pretty bummed My own fault I suppose, but nevertheless, please assure me that I do not need to run around or drive myself crazy thinking about a new dress.. I know ballgown is not everyone's style, but does this look good on me? I am having it currently taken in, as I have lost about 10 lbs since this pic. I also ordered a smaller hoop for under the dress to reduce the poofiness a bit.

My question to you all.. what about my veil? (if you can even see it)
Is it too much for my dress? I was thinking perhaps something plainer or even longer (without the bling) to better compliment the dress?

I do ask for honestly, but at the same time I am not sure how much more negativity I can take
Thank you guys

I've heard all of the horror stories with bad dresses for brides/bridesmaids but I'm wondering if it would be that bad with flower girl dresses? The flower girls in question are my 1.5 year old twins. The dresses they have at DB's are outrageous. I really can't justify spending $100+ each on dresses that they will probably wear only once (and surely make a mess of that one time that they do).

I've looked at a few Carter's & Macy's dresses but none of them are really what I'm looking for. I really like the look of this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/186489384/rush-order-for-mary-hamilton?ref=related-1

and this:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/191974847/2014-lace-flower-girl-dress-lace-girl?ref=sr_gallery_35&ga_search_query=flower+girl+dress&ga_ship_to=US&ga_page=4&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery

The pricing is also much more reasonable I'm just a little nervous about the ship from china/online ordering aspect. I don't want to spend the money and wind up with these dresses that look completely different than expected. Has anyone had any experience with this for flower girl dresses? Anyone you recommend/don't recommend?

If you know of any retail stores that have something similar I'd also be interested in those suggestions!

Thanks!

So the count down is on with only 32 days left, and I am starting to get a touch panicked. My wedding is very small, casual, and going to be outside in the summer, so my fiancé and I decided it would be best to go with vests and no jacket for the wedding. The problem here has become locating vests in the right color. I'm not wanting anything complicated, I am looking for brown vests. Any shade ranging from light tan to chocolate brown, and pretty much anything in between would go perfectly fine with our colors... but I can't find any! It is note worthy that I am looking for vests that do NOT have the silky back like the type pretty much only worn under a jacket or like the ones they rent with tuxes.
I'm in Canada right now, but I will be back in America in a week, so a store in either country would be fine. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The only thing I'm sure right now is that I want to have a Pnina Tornai dress for my wedding. I know they sell them at KleinFields but the problem is that I live in Europe and my dress budget is around 5000-6000$ and that is kind of the price for the cheapest Pnina dresses. For me to actually travel there to buy it personnally would cost around 2000$ and I'm quessing that I would need to travel there few times for fittings of the dress also.

Does anyone know what is the usual sample size for wedding dresses at Kleinfield? I wear sizes from zero to two.

Or is there any other wedding dress designers with similar style than Pina that might be also available in Europe? (I would be able to travel here all the time) Or in a online botique?

Thank you everyone for your help!

-Susan

Luckily I haven't bought the original dress yet...Has anyone bought a dress and then changed their mind about it?
HI all,

I'm not sure what to do in the situation I found myself in: I let my bridesmaids pick their own dresses with the following guided criteria (David's Bridal, plum, knee length, chiffon). I made sure that there were a number of attractive choices available, but of my 6 bridesmaids, 5 of them bought the same dress!! They all have different body types and they all somehow liked the same dress. Which is fine, except that 1 of my bridesmaids chose a different style dress. And all David's Bridal attire is final sale! I had got them in contact with each other in hopes of preventing something like this and took a mostly hands off approach, but it happened and I don't know what to do. I just don't want my one bridesmaid (not maid of honor) to be wearing a different dress and have it look like a mistake or to have her feel uncomfortable. Is there anything I can do to remedy the situation? Make sure they all have radically different hairstyles?? Anything? Sigh...
