We need a song to play for our unity sand part of the ceremony. Not sure what type of song it should be. I guess maybe an acoustic version of a song if it has vocals or maybe a traditional classic song.

Hello,

I am getting married in May 2013 and am having a "Gatsbyesque" type wedding. We really would love an old car, but am only finding 1950's or 1960's Rolls Royces or Bentlys. We would prefer a 1930's Packard Limo, but I am having such a hard time finding that service.

Does anyone know anything in the North Jersey area or even an antique car group/motor club that perhaps offers such services?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

So we picked our venue the only problem is we have to provide everything for the ceremony, They offer two spots, and a back up in case of weather.

The spot we like is on the patio in fron of a small fountain, I am trying to figure out what all I need to rent, so I can start planning. So far I have

garden vs beach

Hello lovely knotties! At the current moment I am faced with a really hard decision about our ceremony site. I am in love with a garden at a local museum in my city however our reception site is at the beach which is a good 30-40 minutes away. I need to make a decision soon especially since the garden site books up pretty fast.. I really want my guests to be happy & I want to be considerate to my guests but I'm not sure if I can bite the bullet and get married on the beach. As beautiful as beach ceremonies are, personally it is not for me. Changing our reception site is also pretty much out of the question. So that's my dilemma. Should I go with the choice of my dreams or put my guests’ feelings ahead of my own? I know I won't be able to please everyone when it comes to my wedding but I also don't want to be unreasonable. I`ve asked for my fiancé’s help but his answer was "it doesn't matter to me as long as you`re happy"; at times like this I wish he would play devil's advocate.

I really want to do something special to remember the family that can't be at my wedding. My dad passed away when I was young, and I wanted to do something special for my grandma and grandpa too. I was thinking about playing a song during the ceremony, but thought that might be too depressing. Our first dance is to my grandma's favorite song (What A Wonderful World- Louie Armstrong). Any ideas for something short and sweet I could put in the program or something?

Walking me down the aisle

Hi all,
My dad passed away five years ago so I'm planning to walk down the aisle on my own. My mom is still with me and we have a good relationship, my brother is still with me and we have a good relationship. Is it rude or hurtful for me to not ask either of them to walk me? I am not sure why I'd prefer to walk by myself- it just feels right to me. I don't want to be rude or hurtful though. Will guests be wondering why I didn't ask my Mom or brother or will most people just not even think about it?

Hi ,

thinking about a beach wedding. I'm a bit concerned about wind and my hair blowing all over the place, as well as the guests not being able to hear.

I am also concerned about weather. Paying top dollar for a beach location and god forbid it rains.

I'm thinking of moving to an indoor venue, but my fiancee really wants beachy.

Anyone out there been to a beach wedding that can share their thoughts?

I've been thinking about hiring a videographer for our special day! I really just want our ceremony to be on video-- not so sure about our reception. Any opinions or advice on this particular topic? Should I hire one or not? By the way, we're having a beach ceremony which is why I think having a professional record it is the way to go... can't you just hear the wind now on a personal video recorder??! :0P

Considering my wedding is six months from today, I shoud really get this ball rolling!

How long does a typical ceremony usually last? I'm thinking maybe 30 minutes then pictures another 20-30 minutes. I want to do a receiving line but is it rude to expect guests to just sit there and wait? How do you inform them of this if they don't know to wait?

Vows and saying obey

My pastor feels the word "obey" should be in the vows. The copy of the vows that he gave me has the bride saying obey but, not the groom. I know that the man is considered as head of the house hold however, society has changed over the years. Obey is a strong word and outdated. When I think of obey it think of : You must have dinner on the table by 5pm. I think of obey as demanding. I am open to opinions. Do you agree or disagree with having obey in the vows?

PS. I do realize it's his church and we can choose to go elsewhere. If he wants the ceremony to be performed a certain way he should have told us this when we first asked him to marry us.

i'm currently trying to figure out who's walking down with who during the processional. my fiance and i had originally planned to have his parents walk down together and my mom and stepdad to walk down together for the seating of the mothers. this was good until i decided i wanted my fiance to walk me down the aisle - not my father. now we have all the parents walking down except for my father. should we just have the mothers walk down themselves so he doesn't feel left out? should we just go with our original plan? suggestions?

My fiance and I have recently talked about having a small ceremony with close family and friends, but a large reception. We both work in Student Affairs, so we have tons of students and co-workers who we want to be at the reception- but not at a the wedding. Plus we both aren't 'I like to be the center of attention people' and we want our wedding in a small/intimate location.

Any suggestions for us when we breach it with our families? I spoke to my mom about it and shes ok as long as I invite a few key people, but I am quite nervous to talk to my fiances family...

All the places i've seen are 60 bucks or more...and I don't really want to DIY this because I want to be able to change out the picture after we are married to one from our wedding day.

Hi folks! I'm just wondering, how long did it take you guys to walk down the aisle? I'm planning on arranging something for a string quartet and I don't know how long to make it. I would go to the venue and trial walk it, but I am going to school in NY and I'm getting married in Montana. I probably won't go home for a long time and I want to start the music making. Also, I think it'd be kind of neat to know what you guys did for your walk down the aisle. Share if you want :) Final also, I'm just looking for my father and I walking. Where to get tiny pictures

I have a locket I want to attach to my bouquet with a small picture of my (deceased) father. I have no idea where/how to get such a tiny picture- the locket is maybe 1cm by 2cm. I looked at Walgreens and I think Shutterfly but I didn't see anything that small. Anyone have any ideas?

I set my wedding date once now but decided to just wait until my fiance decided he wanted to have the wedding in Michigan where I'm from because my family (VIP people I need in my wedding, brother and sister in law, niece and nephews) can't afford to make it all the way to Nebraska (2 adults, 4 children). It would be much easier for us to travel there (plus I want to get married in Michigan) After some talking I realized that it wasn't fair that all of his family had to travel and we decided on a neutral place (not a specific place yet), but now we are moving to Houston, so it will be even FURTHER away from my family. I feel like I am literally not planning my wedding anymore because I don't see how my family can make it there, and I just can't get married without those people there, I'll be disapointed and I know they will be equally disapointed. What should I do? Any advice on an affordable way to get them to Houston area? Should I not put my wedding on hold over this?
