It's going to be a back yard bbq style theme complete with cookout and picnic style games (horseshoes, badmitton, etc).

Because our venue does not allow for alcohol, we're planning on serving iced tea, lemonade and a punch and having bottles of water available but i'm wondering whether I should go to the expense of buying cases and cases of soda for 250 people.

Should I buy soda in place of the lack of alcohol or will what we're already offering be enough?

Thanks!

Hey! Okay so i am needing some help! My weddin gis on the 26th of this month, and we are having it outdoors at four o clock. Obviously it will continue in to the night... i am kind of freaking out because i am worried we dont have enough lights. We are doing the perimeter of the tent with LED icicles... and then i am having the tiki torches and some walkway lights, we are probably going to have a fire pit... gives off nice light and it'll keep the guests warm. The tables will have probably 3 votives and 3 candles in jars, then we will have an LED submersible light in the vase with flowers. Writing it down, it feels alot, but when i put it in my mind, not so much! I was thinking of maybe getting some can lights... or pole lights... then thing is i do NOT want to spend my money on junk. If any one has any ideas or input on this, please tell!!
Thank you :)

Hi! I thought I was the first to think of having a wedding at a summer camp during their off-period, but after searching it have seen a few others! Anyone here have experience with it? We would love to have a weekend "summer camp" with all my friends and family, and have found some spots with private cabins, but was wondering about the logisitcs. For example: how do you decide who sleeps in what cabin? Who pays for the accomodations? Do your guests think you're crazy? Do you make the invites seem like a destination wedding weekend, or also give the option of coming for just the wedding day? I can go on...

Also any suggestions of sites appreciated, I'm having trouble finding a perfect medium between "rustic group cabins" and the too expensive "adult private cabins"

Thanks everyone!

I have just recently started planning my wedding and I am having some trouble finding the venue. We are looking for an outdoor rustic venue. I see these pictures of real weddings where it looks like they are having a party in the middle of a field. That’s what we want, more of a blank slate than reception hall. However, when I do Google searches or look on wedding planning sites I get expensive reception halls that have outdoor terraces. We are getting married on St. Charles in New Orleans and don’t want our guest to have to drive more than an hour to have to get to the reception. How do I search for this sort of venue? Or better yet does anyone know of a place in New Orleans that fits this description? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

The problem is, the venue charges an additional $350 for chair setup (in addition to the $300 just for a 45 minute ceremony). The coordinator told me I can avoid the $350 fee by setting up my own chairs, but isn't a rental company going to cost me more money?!? We are on a very tight budget, and I want a nice outdoor ceremony but is it ok to ask guests to stand for a short ceremony? Otherwise I suppose I will have to bite the bullet and move the ceremony indoors...

Help appreciated!!

We're looking into cutting costs everywhere we can without sacrificing TOO much. We live in NE Ohio and are looking at a reception in Vermilion-on-the-Lake. We have some really nice parks up here and I've seen many brides having their ceremonies in the Metroparks. It's definitely affordable and therefore something I'm considering.

My concern though, obviously, is what to do if it rains. I don't want to use their covered shelters because they're set up like picnic areas with picnic tables (in a lot of cases bolted to the ground.) I don't want to invest in a back-up indoor location because that's money we can't afford to spend if we don't have to (otherwise I'd just do that and not pay to rent a location in the park) so I was wondering if there are any ways to protect the wedding from rain in a public location like this? I can't imagine you're allowed to bring in your own tents/chairs but then again... I honestly don't know.

I'm still trying to figure out details so we may not go with this option if it's not going to work for what I want/our budget. So any insight would be more than appreciated. Thanks!

Hi! I am getting married in a 40x40 tent in my sisters backyard. The tents don't come with lighting but does anyone have any suggestions on how much lighting to have? I bought some
Mini Christmas lights on sale, but nt sure if I need more. The tent square footage is 1600, and I'm thinking maybe 1 light per sq foot, I have 1100 right now but not sure if 1600 would be excessive or not? Any help is appreciated.

Oh and the wedding is aug 31 so would be sunny out until about 8 and then it would be very dark later on.

Hi guys! My fiance and I live in central Ohio along with most of our family and friends. I would really love to have our wedding somewhere nearby so that no one has to travel too far, and definitley somewhere within Ohio. I absolutely love the idea of getting married in one of those big, old, wooden barns. We are both sort of country people and they are just so darn pretty lol. My fiances mom said she has always wanted one of those barns and was thinking of having one relocated to there house, which would be perfect for our wedding! However I don't really think that will end up happening. Does anyone know of any great barn venues in Ohio or central Ohio? We also thought about just finding one we really like and asking the owner if they would let us have our wedding there, but that would probably be a last resort.
