Help! I'm worried about my ceremony time!

hi all - My FI and I are getting married in one of Portland, OR's beautiful gardens in Sept. We picked a ceremony time of 3pm (the ceremony will last about 15 mins). Now, a comment the site's coordinator made recently has me all worried that the sun will be blazing at that time (there is no shade). We figured 3pm would be safe b/c it's after high noon, and before the sun slips below the trees and it gets cool. The invites have already gone out, so it's too late to change now. I guess I'm just looking for some comfort that it'll be ok. My FI and I don't live in Portland, so we're not totally familiar with sun times in mid-Sept. Feedback anyone?? Thanks fellow brides!

Pay to park...advice

I need your advice! My wedding is going to be at a metropark which has a daily fee of $4 per car. My original plan was to pay the $4 for my guests but it is becoming very difficult. I called the park and they said I need to have an exact count and will be responsible for distributing the passes. But how am i supposed to know how many people have an annual pass. I also have a few people that will be coming to the ceremony who were not invited to the wedding. Would it be easier to just not pay for everyone...I think this is extremely rude but my mom doesn't think it's a big deal. Help!!

A small 2 person plane crash landed into my parents farm where our wedding is taking place. Luckily, NOBODY was hurt and none of my parents horses were hurt in the field the plane crash landed in. The plane ran out of gas and couldn't make it the remaining 10 miles to the airport and they saw open fields and took a chance for a landing. Welcome to my life of weird news!!

My fiance and I live in Grand Rapids and love the beach. He proposed to me in Ottwa on the beach there and we wanted to have either the marriage ceremony on the beach or the reception near some sort of water. I'm from CA origionally so I'm used to a lot more options for venders and we're having a terrible time finding anything that is near the water that caters to weddings that will fit 100 people. Can anyone give any advice?

For me, I'm having the ceremony and cocktail hour outside. We are using the same garden lawn and splitting it in half. The front half for the ceremony, the back half for the CH, where we will have a large tent set up. I'm so excited!

OK, so how do we deal with bugs? LOL I'm hoping that in October we will not need to deal with it so much, but the bridal shower is in 2 weeks and is outdoors. We were just at the site yesterday and FLIES! yuk! Does that Yard Guard stuff work-or any other solutions?

I'm having my ceremony on a lakeside beach and have been leaning towards hanging flowers or paper lanterns from shepard hooks. However, I started thinking that this would not work with my indoor backup site. The chairs we are using are banquet chairs, so we can't hang anything from them. I'm wondering if anyone has come up with some great ceremony decor ideas that can easily be used indoors if plans change. Thanks!

Hi there, I need some help/advice with finding an outdoor wedding venue in or around Phoenix, AZ. I'm looking for something with nice scenery and a venue that would be able to hold the entire ceremony and reception for around 150 guests in October of this year. I know I'm cutting it close but I haven't had much time to look. Also, if they would be willing to allow outside vending/catering, that would be great too. I'm looking for a scenic but inexpensive outdoor ceremony site in the DFW area and came across the Parks & Rec page for Southlake. Has anyone ever tried hosting a wedding ceremony or private event at any of the parks in Southlake? (i.e. Rustin Pavilion, North Park, etc.) They look gorgeous in the pics but I'm just worried about logistics and not getting that private ceremony feel since they are public parks.

Catholic beach wedding, where are the few places you can do it?

Hello everybody,

We would like to have a catholic beach wedding. I understand that, especially in the US, the Catholic church does not support that idea. However, I did find a place in Cancun that has a catholic glass chapel on the ocean and the post mentioned that they are a few more places that do it. Does anybody know of any place like this? We are not limited to a certain destination.

As an alternative, I could see myself getting married in a Catholic church near a beach, like in a small beach town or right next to the beach and having the reception at a beach venue. For this, I would like to keep it to the Southeast (Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama). Does anybody know of nice places?

hi all, i've been engaged for almost 4 years & we just decided to go ahead and do it all ready. shot gun style. i've never liked the idea of having a huge wedding, i want a backyard style wedding with fire pits and cow boy boots. even though i live in New England, with the most unpredictable weather i've decided to do it at Colt State Park on October 12, 2013. my main question is, how do you go about drinking alcohol in a state park? is anyone from RI (or surrounding New England) who knows someone, or has had a wedding at one of the parks, who knows any thing about this?
