I was married on Jan. 16th and I ran into a....situation....at the end of my wedding reception. (As a little background information things were already tense as my hubby's parents and my parents weren't getting along and had already had a couple of run-ins.) My MOH had a run-in with my FIL. He was joking around with her and hurt her feelings. She took it really personal and had her buzzed boyfriend say something to my FIL. Needless to say it didn't go over well and my MOH felt the need to involve my MIL as well and basically tell her to control her husband. Given the current tension I tried to smooth things over and my MOH left to avoid further conflict
My Husband is furious with her and never wants to speak to her again (they've also had conflicts in the past) because this was the last straw for him. After a few things he said to her in anger, she feels the same. At first i was just trying to smooth things over, but then I got to talk it out with a neutral party. I realized I'm furious with her and I'm not sure if I want to completely rekindle our friendship- at least not soon. We work together so I'm willing to keep the work relationship intact, but I really want nothing to do with her outside of work. I've come to realize I'm really dissappointed with her. When we spoke about the incident after my honeymoon she said she was sorry about the way she handled it, but not that she did it. And I'm really upset that she couldn't just get over herself for ten minutes and let it go because it was MY wedding....
I guess my questions is...is it OK that I'm THIS upset now? I thought I was ok before, but I realized I'm really angry with her. I'm now remembering how snotty she was on the day of and over analyzing all of it....what do I do now????? Please help me figure this out!

Isn't it weird how fast the wedding goes? For years girls dream of the day their very own prince charming will go down on one knee and ask that magical question. When it actually happened it took all of two minutes...in a flash that dream was over, replaced with a beautiful memory.

Next began the wedding planning process. A process I was sure would fly by although it felt like an eternity. I wanted my wedding to be perfect, as all of us girls do. It was yet again another dream in my head, another dream that was soon to be replaced with a memory, a memory I was determined would trump all the others.

I needed a visonary if you will. I needed a bride whisperer. I needed a woman who could understand my vision and execute it in a way that would take my breath away. Guess what girls? I found her.

Kate Rosson with A Bash Events in Oxford, Mississippi is exactly what the doctor ordered. She has a steadfast attention to detail and an unfailing determination to make every single aspect perfect, and ladies, I mean perfect!

A Bash helped turn my dream into reality, and that reality into a memory that I will carry for a lifetime. No detail went unnoticed! Thanks A Bash for making my day perfect!

Lee Ray Photography took the photographs for my wedding. Lee is amazing and captures the most beautiful shots. I loved all the pictures he took and am still having the hardest time trying to pick the ones to order!!! He was extremely personable, yet very professional and knowledgeable. He captured every detail of my big day. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking around for a great photographer.

I also had a videographer at my wedding. I wanted EVERYTHING to be captured. Grasshopper Productions was with me throughout the entire day, from the beauty salon till the get away. They are amazing and do excellent work!!! My wedding video includes a photo montage for our engagement, a love story, as well as the entire wedding day. Grasshopper is great to work with and can give you exactly what you're looking for. Capturing all those details is so important and I am SO glad I booked them. I recommend them too!!!

Nelson's Weddings did the photography for our wedding. They were incredibly professional and had great ideas. I loved the work that I saw while at their home and they were very helpful as well. The day of the wedding, they were on time and all smiles. Very friendly. The day went by fast and it seemed like they took a ton of photos. However, when the photos were available I was a little disappointed. A list of the things I did like:- They were on time- They took many pictures that I didn't expect them to take. - The fish eye lens pictures made my train look absolutely beautiful. I really liked those pictures. - At the reception my dress unbustled repeatedly and they actually supplied safety pins for me. They totally worked and saved me from having to rebustle all night long. I was very grateful for that!!!- I loved that they took a lot of pictures of my family from out of town. It has been a long time since I have seen some of them so it is very nice to have so many pictures of them. A list of the things I didn't like:- They took pictures of my dress with one of the sleeves off the hanger. I don't know if they were going for a certain look with that, but I would have preferred my dress look elegant and sophisticated in my pictures... not distressed. the train wasn't even let out. The only picture of my dress with the train out and both straps on the hanger has my mother's leg half way in it. I have asked them to crop it to see if it turns out better. - Before the ceremony taking my pictures, we did a few in front of the large stained glass doors. I thought they were going to come out really nice, but all of them are at an angle where you can see the exit sign and a trash can. Again, I've asked them to crop those out and see how they turn out after. There was one that I think could turn out nice. - They only took one picture of us with our wedding party after the ceremony and in that one picture the best man's eyes are closed.- All of the post ceremony pictures taken inside the church all have flash and it darkens the back ground inside the church which is really disappointing because the inside is gorgeous. Not to mention it made us look really bright. I didn't see a reason that they had to use flash since they weren't allowed to use flash during the ceremony (church rules) and all those picture came out fine with the lighting. - I hadn't thought about it at the time, or I would have said something, but it occurred to me that all the photos of us and our family were separate. it was us with his family and us with my family... It would have been nice to get a few pictures with us and our mothers together or us and our fathers etc. not one picture had joined families.- During the ceremony we had a close friend and family member perform readings and there is only one picture of both of them. Neither are very good. Our family member has a weird look on his face as he is mid word and our friend who is shorter looks like she is hiding behind the podium. There were two photographers and both had digital cameras... there is no reason why they couldn't have taken a few more and then chose from the best. - They took a few photos at a weird angle and I am unsure of how to place them in frames. I really didn't like that style but I should have pointed that out I guess. - After speaking with them about the DVD that we receive with our package, we realized after asking that they would be playing "love songs" however, not songs that are copyrighted, for example, Black Eyed Peas, or Kenny Chesney. We found out that since they are technically selling the DVD to us in a package that they cannot use copyrighted songs. So I'm wondering what "love" songs they do use… The copyright laws aren't what upset me, what upsets me is that the sample DVD that they gave us did have songs on them from artists like Rascal Flatts and so on. They shouldn't advertise like that if that's not what they are really selling. They should be upfront and honest about what they can and cannot sell. Had I not asked I would have been really surprised later on. I'm fine with making my own DVD slideshow, but it completely defeats the purpose of ordering the more expensive package that comes with one. Overall I am at a 3 out of 5. They took a lot of pictures that came out really nice that I didn't expect, but it was the simple ones I wanted that I thought would have come out much better that they did. They were really good with certain photos, but the photos that I thought would have been easiest to take weren't what I expected in the end.

This is a suggestion for girls like me - a little time on their hands; and creative energy.
We aren't going on our honeymoon right away- school and the time frame prevents it.
These are my creative (not original, most are my families ideas) ways to keep the memories of your flowers, dress, cake topper and veil... and finally a suggestion so that your girls can ACTUALLY wear their dress again

Flowers:
Rather than taking up a lot of space for that flower arrangement and only having it at home... do something that you can always take with you.
This will require Elmer's glue, something to grind (I use Mortar and pestle) and an oven and maybe flour.
Once you get home- take the petals off the flowers, spread them on a cookie sheet and bake them on a low heat until they dry completely. (you should be able to turn them into powder fairly easy)
crush the petals into a fine powder, be sure to remove anything that won't crush.
Add Elmer's glue to the powder until it reaches a standard cookie dough consistency.
now this dough is a no bake dough... just shape it and you are good to go.
It can be sculpted into flowers, used as beads for a necklace (put the holes in before it dries)... anything you can make out of clay you can make with this.

The Dress:
Have it made into a baptismal gown for your children- I look at my Mom's dress and its amazing- but its not in style. my dress won't be when I have kids and they get married probably.

The veil:
Remember that old saying "Something old something new something borrowed something blue"? Well... in realizing how much a darn veil was; I let a few people overhear my disgust- Luckily for me one girl had my fair skin tone and had gotten the same color of off white. she is letting me borrow her veil- so hold onto your veil. Your little girl may never want to wear your dress (unless timing is right and it is back in style) but a veil is a veil is a veil. as long as its the same color as a dress- it can be the something old and something borrowed

The cake topper:
SAVE IT... put it in a little container, and then on big anniversaries, add a little decoration to it... a silver 25, a gold 50.
I just received my Grandparent's topper that had the 50 added to it. and it meant the world to me.

The Bridesmaid dresses:
If they are longer, let the girls know they could always have it shortened and turned into a cocktail dress.

I hope this helps at least one person. if not- that's okay... I'm sure it will give someone a laugh

Hi All! I don't post much here, but I wanted to write a review for my DOC that I hired for my 10/24/09 because she was the best decision I made throughout my ENTIRE wedding-planning process. I hired Pam with Celebrations Wedding & Event Planning in December of '08 because I read many online recommendations for DOC's/ wedding coordinators. I met her and we immediately clicked- she has the perfect personality for event planning!
Even though I primarily hired her for setting up our reception site, she kept me organized and on schedule with all my DIY projects in the months leading up to our wedding date. She collected most of my projects about a month out- which I am so thankful for because I tend to procrastinate and would have put them off to the last minute without a deadline.
On our wedding day, she set up the reception location, came to the church to make sure everything there was set up properly, and made sure that our day ran smoothly and without any snags.
Pam was really wonderful and I enjoyed working with her. I would highly recommend her if you are serious about hiring a coordinator in the Austin area!
Her website is:
www.planningcelebrations.com- you can find her on the local vendors too.
Thanks for listening!

I spent so long planning my wedding that I never took the time to think of how it would actually feel to be married. I was plesantly surprised by how well everything went and by the overwhelming sense of joy my new husband and I experienced. The problem is now that the wedding is over I miss it. We had such a good time I wish we could do the whole thing over again! I guess that is a good problem to have. I was just wondering if anyone else was feeling this way?
