Anyone booked the honeymoon yet?

Fii and I have been toying with booking our honeymoon but werent sure if we should yet or not. We're going to Paris and have already decided what hotel we want to stay at, and probably will be flying with Air France out of Seattle. I just don't know if I want to book it yet, is it too soon? Also, another reason I am thinking of waiting is because we want to see if fares will drop. We're flying Premium Voyageur, which has some extra room than a regular coach seat, because Fi is 6'1" and i am 5'9". Right now our return tickets will cost us $3567...its a big chunk of money to part with right now lol

Memorial idea

So I think I'm posting on here to much but I'm so excited i can't contain myself.
I've been racking my brain trying to come up with ideas for a memorial for my mom. I even asked on here and nothing seamed right. So while talking with my wedding planner tonight I mentioned some windchimes.
My mom loved windchimes ever since I was a kid we've had them outside inside everywhere. Now when i hear them I think of her and it helps me know she's here with me.
My most amazing planner came up with the idea of making windchimes and placing them at the ceromony and at different places through out our day and I just got so excited. This is my memorial to my mother, I've finally found something that is totally her and I'm so excited!!!

So as of today I have officially booked my baker!!!! YAY this was the hardest thing for me so far as I had a horrible first tasting and meeting and after a few more still wasnt able to find the one to make my cake but now I have found her!!!! So woo hoo we now know we will have a beautiful wedding and grooms cake! Also got the phone call that my wedding dress has arrived at the store!!!! I booked an appt to go and try it on for July 9th so heres to hoping its the right dress, right size, and right color! Im super excited as when I bought my dress I tried on their sample and it was HUGE and wasnt the right color and even had a few signs of all the try ons it had been through. I just cant wait to try on my dress and see how great it looks now that its the right one! Just had to share with everyone all my excitement as I think im already driving FI nuts!

I have my dress (PIP)...now I can start planning the rest of the wedding!

so I went shopping yesterday and I ended up getting the dress! we only went to 2 places. I was so nervous all week long leading up to trying on the dresses. I am very happy, though, with my dress and now I am excited to start planning the rest of what will go on around my dress!

Hello ladies,
I havent post anything in like 2 weekS, which feels like an eternity to me but i havent had the time. I sneak in every now and then while im at work, just to see how you girls are doing. It seems we all are coming a long way and I'm so excited for all of us :)
So, we (FI & I) are done with the wedding preparation classes at Church, we had our first food tasting this week (yummo!) and we booked our music... yey! We wont be having a DJ. instead we found this girl who sings beautiful and sings all kinds of music.. from Frank Sinatra to lady gaga, latin salsa, latin pop, rock. bachata country, everything! Love her.. is her and her hubby who plays the keyboards so i think we made a good choice.. a little over our budget (2000 for 4hrs.. but is ok! im sure it's worth it.)
Ok.. so DB finally posted a pic of my dress, is very simple but i love it.. hopefully I'll be getting it next month!
OHHH one final thing i want to share with you girls,I weighted my self yesterday and so far I've lost 70Lbs!!!! from 210lbs to 140lbs! yey :) all thanks to ZUMBA!

About a month ago I was panicking thinking we were behind on planning but as of today we officially have our church and reception hall booked. We have the photographer booked and my dress came in a week ago. We also have the honeymoon booked too (Jamaica yay!!). And...we picked up our wedding bands two days ago!

I need music help

I want to walk down the aisle to "All you need is love" by The Beatles, but only the intro. However, I have no idea how to get just the intro on a cd for our chapel (it has to be on cd, no iPod hookup and they dont allow a dj in there b/c the space is small). How do you have someone do all this for you?

HOnestly, it's stressing me out lol. I want the music to be perfect at the ceremony, but I don't know how to make it so.

Is there any way to mix music yourself online? everything else is so easy with the ceremony...the music is what stresses me out, and it all flowing properly. if I was picking one song, that would be easy, but I'm not. I'll probably have one for the bridal party, one for me, and then the recessional.

Church trouble

I'm having issues with my church and it's really stressing me out.

My FI and I went to the same church growing up however.... I stopped going when they got rid of the old pastor because I didn't like the new one. I havn't been since high school five years ago. My FI and his whole family still go.

So when we got engaged we decided to go with them because I don't really have a church. So we booked.

Ever since we booked the lady who does all the wedding planning has been a complete brat about everything. She didn't want to give us our date, she wanted us to put a deposite down then wait for a date to open up. She's rude to me and my wedding planner and She acts like our wedding is a huge hasle not a joyous occasion. We tried to talk to her and all she did was preach at us. the final straw was when she told us we could not have pictures done during the ceromony and we could only have the church for 2 and a half hours tops.

So some stuff fell through with the budget so I think we should cut the church because they're charging us an outragious amount for 2 and a half hours when our venue wouldn't charge us to do the ceromony there.

My FI is really mad and I understand why but I'm really bothered by the fact that she acts like we're bothering her to have our wedding there and it's so expensive...

HELP!!!!

Excitement

I cannot contain some of my excitement, and sometimes I tend to lack patience.

Of course I am excited for everything wedding related, but right now these are my top 3 excitement factors:

1. My ring should be here the first week of July. I have patiently waited almost 2 months for my final product. Right now I just have my solitaire, which is lovely, but the whole thing together is amazing and I can hadly contain myself.

2. Vacation- I have a week of vacation scheduled for July, and I am going to the ocean. I can. not. wait.

3. My dress. It won't be here until September, but I can't wait to just put it on. Its so gorgeous and part of me just wants to wear it to work one day....

what are you excited about for this summer or the next couple of months!?

I need your thoughts. I am a little frustrated. I tried emailing my venue with the entree's my FI and i wanted to try. They don't do tastings. I was really surprised when I found out this was the case a couple of months ago. I want to try 7 out of the 11 or so courses. She responded to the email asking me to call. We are trying to decide if it is worth the price for some of the dishes. I also wanted to try things before i am paying thousands of dollars for the meals to make sure my guests will enjoy them. When I called, they said i can only try three of them, and if i want to try the others i would have to pay for them (full meal pricing). They only serve full dishes. She said this is because they have to look through the book to find a day they are serving those dishes. She made it seem as if this was some huge hasle. I asked if i can just get small samples and they said no, since they are not a full restaurant. It just seems a little petty to me considering how much i will end up spending... Am i being rediculous?

Classic Black and White Movies with Weddings

Hi everyone!

While planning my own wedding, I am also helping my MoH plan hers for October 2012. She is having her reception in a very cool classic music hall / theater and they have a large projection screen available for her to use.

She had an alternate idea to the typical photo slideshow: splice together clips of black and white movie wedding scenes to play on a loop during the reception. The problem is, both of our knowledge of old films is very limited.

Can anyone suggest some black and white movies that have wedding scenes in them? Right now we've received the following suggestions: Father of the Bride (1950), It Happened One Night (1934), The Philadelphia Story (1940), and Gone With The Wind (1939).

We both greatly appreciate any suggestions!!! :)

I am sooooo excited. My grandpa agreed to become ordained for the day and perform our ceremony! We looked at having our pastor do it, but it was going to cost a FORTUNE. So we started looking at other options. We thought about having an old familiy friend who is a judge do it, but she never got back to me. So we asked my grandpa. (I had a dream that he performed the ceremony and it was WONDERFUL!!) And I called to confirm today and he said YYYESS! :D

Flying Opinions

Ever notice how a simple thing as having a ring on your finger starts a tidal waves of opinons from everyone you have ever known- solicited or not?

As a whole I have done fine with everyones opinions. Some are good, some need some work, but at the end of the day I am way more opinionated then anyone else so I just let it roll off my shoulders....but the one opinion that drives me absolutely bonkers is this one : "you still have 9 months" or "you are planning so early".

Do we really live in a society where planning is completely meaningless? Where procrastination rules? It has completely flabbergasted me how often someone has said this to me. Granted I do know I have plenty of time to make decisions, and I am not rushing anything, i just know what i want so whats so wrong with going for it? I don't need 9 months to make up my mind. Not to mention this is completely my personality, I am and never will be a wishy washy person.

Lastly, i just feel like when someone says this to me it is because they were poor planners for their wedding which left them with an over abundance of crap to do the month before...or even the week before. So this is a backhanded way of them showing their jealousy.

Anyway, just kinda felt like throwing that out there because I personally am tired of hearing it. :-)

White or colored shoes??? Opinions please

I know that traditionally brides wore white wedding shoes but now that traditions are are changing so are their shoe colors. Are you wearing white or colored wedding shoes? Looks like I have to move it to march!!! My mom told me today that our date was Easter weekened!! Ack!! I can't get married that weekend because all my family is from Canada (i live 4 hours south in WA state) and they are fickle and wont come for a holiday weekend. So now I'm super frustrated and don't want to change the date, but since we're having such a small wedding, they are the bulk of my guests. I have to call the chapel this afternoon and it looks like we'll do it for March 31st if they can have us. Should I join the march board or stay here? ugh!!!!!

Wedding Budget... Are your parents helping out?

Hey everyone, I was just curious on something... How many of you have parents that are helping out with the wedding budget? If so, do you mind me asking how much?

My parents expect me to have a decent wedding in the Columbus, Ohio area (where most wedding are about $35,000- I forget where I saw that, but you can look it up on the internet). My fiance and I thought that we were going to be good and plan a $10,000 wedding for about 150 people. My parents, mostly my mom, thought this wouldn't be enough, but we already have my wedding dress, our venue, and our caterer. (He will be in training for his new job for about 2 months this fall. So, we are trying to get most of the big planning that he will need to help with out of the way now).... BUT, my dad thinks it's ridiculous that he should have to pay for any of it. Each time my fiance brings up money he acts like he's totally offended. I don't think it's right for him to pay for all or even most of the wedding, but I am kind of offended that he doesn't want to help at all. We are both students, live on our own, pay all of our bills and schooling... and 20 years old. He loves my fiance, I just don't understand. We work so hard... I am heart broken and don't know what to do because I have always dreamed of a beautiful wedding. It's only one day, but it's a very important day to me. The rest of my family (cousins, etc.) have had help with their weddings (really nice ones!). I just don't understand why he doesn't want to help us with our wedding. We have been engaged and saving money for over 2.5 years, shouldn't he have kind of been expecting to help out atleast with the cake or my shoes? He wants to not contribute a single dime. Any one else having this problem? At this point, we'll be ok with our wedding, but it'll put us in a not very good situation with moving this September and school loans...

I wasn't sure if I was the oldest on here, being that it is my 2nd wedding. I'll be 31 next month. My first husband and I were married at 19 and he passed away almost two years ago, so I'm young still, at least I think so lol. My Fi is going to be 35 in October.

Hey ladies sorry I havent been chatty the last day or so. My wonderful fiance was in an accident and had his lower jaw broke. He is having surgery in the morning and im a total wreck. I've been MIA on the board and have done absolutely no planning since April when we booked our venue! My FI and I have been searching for a house for over a year now, and we FINALLY found one that's perfect for us. We made it through all the stressfull negotiations and inspections, and our closing date is in a week and a half! Sooo excited that we found our "nest" and that all this house hunting junk is over and NOW I can refocus to our wedding planning. Just had to share =P

I hope you don't mind me joining! I'm unofficially engaged!! My FI has put the ring on layaway (i picked it out), and i'll be getting it sometime this summer. We've already picked a date, April 7th (obviously April as I'm posting here! lol) and booked a venue. Still working on a reception place. I have almost booked my MUA/Hair lady, she does both, and I'm also working on the photographer. I'm so incredibly excited! This my 2nd wedding, but my 1st I eloped and didn't have a proper wedding. My first husband passed away in 2009, so I get a chance to do it right this time and I am so stoked! (and happy to join you all!)

XP - Ceremony Decor brainstorming needed

Okay, so you know those overhangs outside of schools where the pulthrough drive-way usually is? My garden venue has someting similar leading from the bridal chamber to the aisle. It's outdoors and about 30 yards long that I will have to walk down on my way to the aisle. It's very plain/simple right now and I need ideas to make it pop.

The rest of the decor will be black/white/clover green. The mantle (see photo) and steps will be lined with multiple tiered candles and oddball vases (milk glass and black lacquer) with single anemones, hydrangeas, etc in them. The aisle will have boxwoods every other row and candles.
