Alterations - Slight Concern!

So I had my second fitting for alterations to my wedding dress tonight. She is a seamstress who works from home -- I am very confident in her skills but I have a slight concern. Her work studio is in her basement and is clean however she has a cat and the litter box is down there and has a noticable cat urine smell. I didn't notice this the first visit -- neither did my mom or my sister so I don't know if the lady needs to just switch the litter or what -- I don't know anything about cat ownership, but I'm worried my dress is going to stink after I get it back, especially considering she's doing pretty extensive work on my dress, so I'm not really keen on spending $300+ for alterations and getting a stinky dress. Is it rude of me to call her and describe my concern and say I expect the dress to be free of any odors when I receive it?

I'm super excited! I just got home from meeting with a restaurant for the rehearsal dinner. It's one of the nicest restaurants in the area and I never they'd be within budget but they are! And the room is on the roof so if its nice we can go outside and the sun will set right behind the capitol buildings! here's the site so you can all see the view! (click). I'm so glad my uncle offered to host this. Oh and we're all taking a Trolley there from the hotel! Now to go order invites from VP.

I feel like I am going nuts...I have all the big checks out of the way and as we get closer, I feel like I'm forgetting a ton of things!!

I know there have been numerous posts about this but figured I'd get an idea from you ladies as we get closer to JULY! I can't believe tomorrow is June...where has the time gone?!

So....what are some details that you'll be working on in the next month or two? Anything that you almost forgot?

Meagan, OMG. Years ago I went on a walk with my samoyed and my friend's pug. A collie attacked both of the dogs and bit the pug's tail. The pug's tail went limp and didn't move for a while. Took her to the vet, but the pug eventually regained movement in her tail. They say it was just a shock. I truly hope it'll be the same for your dog. But OMG that's terrible. Poor dog!

Also wanted to see how your little dog is doing today? Any better?? Thinking of the dog today!

We were going to go to Secrets St. James, Montego Bay, Jamaica, but then do to my fiance working we were going to cut the honeymoon, but then we decided to switch our reception site to my parents house, well now we can afford a honeymoon still since we already paid for the plane tickets and we'll have almost $2900 left in our budget switching our reception location. So we've switched our reservations to Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton, which is still an AI, but $1700, as opposed to $3000. Has anyone heard anything good or bad about this resort? I just want to be fully aware before going if there's anything I should know about the resort. Thanks.

Ceremony Music - Check!

So- I finally talked FI into having a ceremony musician for the convenience of it.

Booked a harpist today. :o)

I've never been to a wedding with a harp - but I think it's going to be a BEAUTIFUL touch to the ceremony. We'll see how it turns out! Haha. The $$$ just keeps adding up. Phew.

I am not new to the knot, but I have only just discovered the July 2012 board. I'm glad it's here because I could use the support! My wedding is July 20th.

I am going absolutely crazy... not because I have too much to do, though. I really have most everything taken care of. I just am so ready for my wedding day to be here. Ready to be living with my FI and not with my parents. I graduated from college only two weeks ago and I am already going insane being back in my parents' house again... I'm so tired of not being able to run my own home, deal with my own finances, and tired of waiting to be a wife!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep my mind busy? I work an office job M-F but I still can't seem to think of anything else. Help!

The average temp the day of my wedding is 97...yikes! Our reception is indoors, but there are only ceiling fans and windows. I'm having stress dreams that everyone is sitting there sweating.

I know TK is going to eat this, so I don't even know why I'm bothering, but are you guys finding yourselves fighting with your fiance a lot as the wedding gets closer?

I swear, we're going to rip each others' heads off lately. We got in a huge screaming fight this morning and I'm still upset about it. We usually talk via gchat all day but neither of us has contacted the other at all and we didn't even say goodbye before leaving for work. :(

So I know I should already have finalized the reception menu, but we're having trouble narrowing down from the three meats we sampled to two. We know we're going with beef brisket for one, but the other two options were between a delicious pork entree and a chicken one that neither my FI nor I were to fond of. My FI doesn't care for chicken in general, and I didn't care for the sauce. The caterer has other sauces we can try, but the pork was SOOO good. We're doing a buffet, so there's no meal selection on the RSVP's (and we will have a vegetarian option). I guess my question is - if you were a guest at a wedding and there was only beef and pork entrees, would you miss the chicken?

So today I had off from work so FI and I went and got some major checks finished!

First we payed off the honeymoon! YIPPIE!! St. Lucia here i come :) We then had an appointment scheduled with our venue where we went over all the fine details of the menu and picked out our cake option, we are going for a multi layer cake with chocolate and marble being alternated. We also stopped by michaels and bought some more stuff so my mom can finish up the centerpieces :) And everyday we get more and more RSVP cards in the mail :)

So...I had an interview for a long term sub job at a high school in a district I really like. I also have a summer job which starts training in a few days. The problem is that if I'm offered the sub job, I would need to work two weeks in june which would mess up me being able to work my summer job. If I give advance notice of this possibility to my summer job, I'm afraid they will fire me so they have time to train a replacement and I could end up not getting the summer job, resulting in me having no job at all. If I let it ride and don't say anything though, I could end up fine if they don't offer me the job but if they did I would really be leaving the summer job in a bind. thoughts?

First dress fitting!

I had my first dress fitting today! I wasn't expecting to get in today but she doesn't actually take appointments so I just went in after work. It felt so good to be back in my dress and to my surprise, I actually have to have the dress taken in about an inch on each side so that made me feel amazing.

It was the first time I have seen the entire look with my dress, jewelry, and veil and I have to admit I did get a bit teary eyed. I am having her alter my veil (it's too long and a little uneven after I had to take it apart and start over last night).

I go back in a week from today to try it on again and pick up my veil. I can't wait!!!

So remember I went home sick yesterday? Well our washer was spewing water from underneath. Wonderful.

So the repair man came today. Turns out it doesn't look like we have a problem with our washer. We have a septic and I saw a lid pop out and water, toilet paper came spewing out of the pipe right NEXT to the house. The smell killed me.

We suspect our septic was clogged (in one of the pipes). So we used our water hose to snake through the pipe and found something clogged. But suspected the pipe was broken.

Dug through the grass and GASP! Our pipe was broken. Somebody drove over it and smashed it. Luckily it wasn't the main pipe, but it must have been the same pipe for the washer and something else.

So we dug through and cut through the pipe with a saw. Stuff began spewing all over (GROSS!) and inserted a new pipe. I hope we're okay for now. But YUCK!!

Our neighbor is livid at the sellers- he thinks the sellers are responsible for this and it was obvious that they tried to cover up the problem (duct taping inside one of the pipes). I have a feeling that the neighbor did not love the previous owners. Our neighbor helped us fix the problem (such a sweet man).

I'm finally sitting here eating dinner.
