BM dresses check! vent included

I'm so happy to finally find a BM dress that all of BM's and I agree on. The colors of the dress will be turquoise and the lace on top will be black. We can't get the bow to be black without changing the color underneath the black lace so my mom is going to fix that herself when they come in.

Onto my vent. My MOH changed plans at the last minute yesterday. Back story: She has 2 kids and so do I. They haven't been able to see each other much lately so and have been asking to see each other. We had plans for the past two weeks that we would all meet at my mom's house, leave the kids with her boyfriend and my stepdad. My stepdad was so excited about this because he's good friends with her boyfriend. He spent extra money on a movie, pizzas, and soda for them to enjoy while watching the kids. Also, my son's other grandpa wanted to take him for the day, but we declined because we already had plans. My MOH's boyfriend's mom had called shortly after we made the plans to see if she could take the kids, but my MOH told her no because we already had plans. The boyfriends mom freaked out on my MOH and saying she's going to cry all day.
Yesterday comes around and everything is fine. I even called MOH to see how far she was in driving and she never said a thing about changing plans. Once I get to my mom's house she texts me saying she dropped her daughter and boyfriend off at his mom's house. WTF?!? So I have a 6 year old child crying because he can't see his cousin that he hasn't seen in months and I could have just left him with his other grandpa for the day to hang out. Everyone changed their plans and was going out of their way to make it a great day for everyone else and then they don't even show up. I was and still am PO'd! If everyone wouldn't have gone out their way to change their plans for it I wouldn't be so upset, but I just can't believe she did this and let her boyfriend's mom push her around like that. She could have at least called me and let me know beforehand because she knew my son's other grandpa wanted to take him for the day. Ok done venting. Sorry, it got much longer than I was expecting.

As the MOH, I'm throwing the bride a bridal shower and bachelorette party (I'm in NorCal and the bride is in SoCal. What's the timeline each event should be? Is the bridal shower supposed to happen 1 month before the wedding? Is the bachelorette supposed to happen weeks before the wedding?

How to get wedding dress to the location of the wedding?

Hi,

I posted earlier asking when should I buy the wedding dress.

Now I just started thinking, I live in NY but the wedding is going to be in CA, what's the best was to transport the wedding dress?

Should I take it on the plane with me? Or ship it myself? I don't want it to get all folded and wrinkled.

Yeah I have color anxiety. I haven't done anything specific to have to have chosen them, but since starting this I had chosen to go along with the "peacok" colors...minus the actual feathers such as below.

But I just saw a photospread in a magazine of the following colors....Apple red and Tiffany blue which were so gorgeous! My venue is going to be in a loft so wide open room. Its obviously summer and I've always been afraid that the peacock colors weren't good for summer. Thoughts?

Hi!!! I'm AJ. Eric and I are planning a July 13th wedding, yep, Friday the 13th ;)! We just got engaged last month. We have 2 little girls who are 8 and almost 5. I am so excited to be planning a July wedding! We are planning a very small wedding with just family and a few very close friends and a medium sized reception. Anyhow...I cant wait to see how everything turns out for all the July brides and I am excited to get to know everyone!

Need table decor ideas!

OK people, this is the pavilion that I get to dress up. It comes with:
- brown or white table cloths
- burlap runner
- napkins (white, western theme, or brown),
- red oil lanterns
- square, wooden flower boxes with horseshoe accents

I plan to bring in string or bistro lights, paper lanterns to cover the exposed light bulbs and then maybe pompoms or banners of some sort.

As you can see from this photo that one centerpiece - and a low centerpiece at that - does not look right. (This table arrangement is not manadatory).

Then I thought of alternating jars of wildflowers and red lanterns, kind of how they have on their website. But these jars of flowers are $25 each, even with the jars provided. Kind of don't want to spend $400+ on flowers that I have to leave behind.

So looking into alternative centerpieces that maybe have a little more "height" to them and hopefully cheaper - I came across this one:

Or even something like this. I'm going to guess this is going to be cheaper than $25, but I haven't priced out materials.

I totally know I can't dictate what people wear to my wedding, but I just got a text from FMIL asking if she could wear a cream or champagne colored dress. I replied that my dress is ivory and champagne so I'd prefer that she stayed away from those colors. Am I out of line by saying anything?

Hi,

I'm new to this board. I have a question about when I should get my wedding dress.

I was first considering ordering online, but decided that may not be the best idea and that I'd like to try them on to make sure that I like the dress that I buy.

Our wedding is July 28, 2012 and I thought I should probably start looking this month and hopefully find something.

The only thing is that I think it would be nice to go dress shopping with my mom but she lives across the country and she's visiting the last week of March. Would I be waiting too long to go then?

So I guess my questions are ideally when should I buy my dress?

Should I go out this month and hopefully get something or wait until the end of March?

Cake, cookies and pastries.....

We went last night to a couple of local bakeries. Tasted some wonderful cakes with different types of fillings. Delicious!

Now my question is, I plan on ordering a cake but I also want italian cookies and mini cannoli's.

The cake will be served so I will need to get a cake big enough for all of my guests. Now I'm not sure how man cookies and pastries I should order.

The bakery suggests I order enough for everyone. So a cookie tray for 150p is 3-4 cookies for each person. We also want mini cannoli's and they suggest 2pp.

Ordering a cake that serves 150 plus cookies for 150 then add in cannoli's......well, it just seems like a lot of dessert.

I'm thinking cake for 150 and maybe cookies and cannoli's for 100.

What do you think??

A different kind of father-daughter dance

SO, my dad has decided he wants us to do one of those father-daughter dances that starts out kinda sappy, then we break into some kind of choreographed/upbeat kind of dance. I've seen these on youtube all the time.

I know I want to start with Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" but am not sure about the rest. I've seen lots of people include 3-4 other songs like "Do You Love Me", "YMCA", "Twist Again", etc. Any other ideas of songs that are easily danced to for white people who don't dance?

I was a little unsure at first, but if we can do it right, it might just be the hit of the reception. Just crossing my fingers it doesn't end up on youtube ;)

I normally go to a CrossFit gym pretty regularly, but with all the traveling I've had to do and thesis work at night, it has been irregular lately. I'm pretty much always guaranteed to be sore after even a week hiatus.

I went on Tuesday, and the work out of the day (WOD) was 150 pushups at your own pace. But every time you stopped to break, you had to do a series of other workouts, then resume your counting. I only had to break 4 times and 25% of them I did on my toes.

But today - 3 days later - I am in pure pain! I cannot bend my elbows more than 90 degrees. I can barely bring a spoon to my mouth to eat my soup, wipe my nose, move a hair out of my face, or arrange my glasses. At times I'm on the verge of tears! I'm allergic to anti-inflammatories, and this Tylenol I took isn't touching it.

I hope it's better tomorrow, the pain has never lasted THIS long!

The reception is from 7:00-11:30pm

My dad thinks I should get more wine then beer, but i'm iffy on that.

Music List Question

How is everyone coming up with their music list? I'm horrible with music. I don't know artists or names of songs. We are having a harp for the ceremony. The harpist is just going to play a few songs for me that I can choose from so that's easy, but what about the grand march? FI wants the Imperial March from Star Wars for our entrance and at this point I'm almost willing to do that because I'm dreading searching for songs. I just don't know where to start and how to pick a song.

So yesterday, I was talking to one of my BM and my MOH. They both happen to be my SIL's. I was asking them what kind of services they want for the wedding (hair & makeup services) because i expressed to my MOH that i wanted everyone to be together and get ready together so I can enjoy the time I have with my girls on my day and they can sip on mimosas while getting their services done. Everyone was on board including my MOH, until yesterday. I find out that she is going to go to her own hairdressers to get ready and i was like oh well I would have liked to have everyone be together like I always said. (mind you I was going to give my girls a g/c to get their hair done, so it wouldn't be such a hassle for them since I am asking them to to go my hairdresser) She said oh well, I am going to be spend 17 billion hours with you on that day anyways why can't i just go to my own. I said whatever and I just walked away.
My mom said I shouldn't be so upset about it, but I mean I have been saying all along for almost 2 years that I wanted everyone to be together. IMO i think my MOH should be with me for the whole day!

Do I have a right to be upset, or am I just over-reacting???

so FI and i went to meet with a pastor this past tuesday and we LOVED him!!! he was so sincere and asked so many questions to really get to know the two of us. he's from a non denominational church around here but based off of christian values. my FI and i are not super religious and dont belong to a church, but we did want some religious values brought into the ceremony.the pastor recited some versions of the traditional vows (even though we found one online that we like), and i really felt like i had that AH-HA moment of........omg im REALLY getting married!!! i felt like i could have cried just knowing he was the one that is going to marry us and hearing him even say the vows to us!!!

followup from the previous post.....my seamstress called and said that she had looked at my sample dress and compared it to mine....turns out the sash that is on MINE is up about 2 inches too high, so she is lowering it....this just might solve the problem of my eye being drawn down to the seam line that i keep looking at. im trying it back on when i go to jersey on saturday! i will post pics then i promise:)
