Thank You Notes for Gifts Without Cards

I am in the process of writing thank you notes and I am down to the very last ones. We have some cards that were seperated from their gift, does anyone have any advice on how to handle this? Should I just write a generic thank you note?

I know this is a stretch but I figured I would try. There was a bridal party that we came across on July 26th when we were taking pictures at the same place as you. Our photographer had a great idea to pretend the two wedding parties were fighting and got some really great photos of it. I don't remember your photographer taking any photos and I wanted to share them with you. Thanks!

Hello, This is my first time actually writing on the boards so I am sorry if I am posting in the wrong place. However, I needed to let out my frustration somewhere and could use advice from people outside of the party.

My fiancé and I have been dating for about 6 1/2 year, been engaged for 1 1/2 and will be getting married next Friday.

We are so excited. We have been doing so well with the planning and it has been miraculously relatively stress free. We've hit MANY bumps but managed to shrug them off. (ex: 1. My MOH decided to go buy a ring with her bf of 3 months the day we told her we were engaged. Then she decided she was "too busy with her wedding" to be in ours...it was awesome... 2. My fiancé's siblings decided to get into a HUGE fight last week and refuse to be in the same room...which is convenient for us since they are both in the wedding party...joy...)

But the latest bit of news is really making me angry. I am not sure if its the nerves/stress of the big day getting so close that may be making me feel like it's a bigger deal than it is.

One of my best friends since middle school recently (2 months ago) started dating someone. Our rule from the beginning, was that dates were allowed to come if they had been together for 6 months or more. Apparently, after 2 months of dating my friend decided to get engaged as well. So, I decided to be nice and told her she can bring her now fiancé.

This friend sent me a text yesterday (10 days before the wedding) that read, "We are also getting married next Friday! =D." I was able to somehow keep my cool and said, "Does that mean you wont be able to make ours then?"

Turns out she is planning on getting married at the courthouse in the morning, and then coming to our wedding/reception following that.

For some reason, this is really bothersome to me, and I don't like it one bit. I have no idea what to do...since I can not tell her what I think she should do, but at the same time...how rude is that?!

My fiance and I applied for our marriage license and paid the fee for it. We get to pick it up in one week and in about 1 1/2 weeks I get to pick up my dress after my final alteration (hoping there aren't any more alterations needed). It feels so nice to have those things done!

Asking to be invited to a wedding: shame on you

My fiance and I are 33 and 35. I think this contributes to the fact that we have a large guest list. Instead of just inviting cousins, we have to invite cousins, their spouses, and their children. Situations like that made our guest list a challenge. Eventually we had to make some cuts, or to put a stop to it. Yes, I loved so-and-so when I was 15, but I also haven't talked to them in the last 15 years - therefore, not on the list.

Still, I am shocked and appalled at how many people expected to be invited, and were willing to tell my parents or myself so. Thank goodness, I didn't have the small, simple, but elegant wedding I wanted - I can only imagine how many would have been up in arms about it then.

One lady made the comment that she was surprised at "who made the cut and who didn't."

One group asked if they were invited, and then hasn't talked to me much since they weren't.

One couple asked my dad if they were invited and then when they weren't, asked again. 10 days before the wedding.

But the story that is by far the worst, and really leaves a bad taste in my mouth, is our new pastor. Our former church pastor was at our church for 10 years and more like family than friend. He is taking a part in the ceremony. In came our new pastor and his wife. We decided not to invite him since he is still so new and we didn't want to step on the toes of the former pastor (our ceremony is not at our church). The new guy has only been there two Sundays, and there is only one Sunday between now and my wedding. During the church prayers, I asked for prayer for my fiance and I as our wedding gets closer. The pastor then asked if everyone there was welcome to attend. Caught completely off guard, and put on the spot, I said, sure. In actuality, the ceremony/reception is invite-only and the invites went out months ago. While most church members are invited, not every single one of them is. As if that isn't bad enough, as I went to take communion (a time which should be holy, and he, as a pastor, should know that), he asked me if he was supposed to come to the wedding. I said I didn't know and stepped away. He stepped toward me and said, "what do you mean you don't know? It's your event?" Say what? I still can't believe that somebody would have the audacity to ask me that. Especially a pastor. Especially during communion.

When did people become so rude and expecting? These kind of situations make me want to nix the whole list!!!

Anybody else experience something similar?

A tiny piece of advice for outdoor summer brides

Hello ladies! Congratulations on your upcoming weddings!

I just wanted to pass along one little bit of advice for those of you getting married outside, that I am so happy I stumbled upon for my wedding: stick a little sundress or extra change of light weight comfortable clothes in your bag for the reception (and don't forget the accompanying underwear). On a whim, I stuck an extra little dress in my bag - more so that I would have a couple of options to change into the next day than anything else.

After 30 minutes of pictures outside before the ceremony, a 30 minute outdoor ceremony, and another 40 minutes of pictures afterwards, I was so hot and sweaty in my dress... it was terrible. I kept going back to the room - which took about 10 minutes to get there and back to - just to go to the bathroom where I could have the air conditioning cranked up so it was 60 degrees in the room. I ended up taking off every slip and undergarment I had, other than my underpants, and it did no good. And within about 10 minutes of being back at the reception, I'd be extremely hot and uncomfortable again. I couldn't dance for more than a few minutes.

A little more than half way through the dancing portion of reception, right after the photographer left, I asked one of my friends to help me get out of my dress, changed into the sundress and went back upstairs. I NEVER had any intention of taking off my wedding dress and changing into another dress for the reception. I love my dress and wanted to wear it forever. But it was, without a doubt, the best decision I made all night. I was soooooo much more comfortable in my sundress and had a great time dancing and laughing with my friends and family for the rest of my reception.

It was, without a doubt, one of the smartest things I did all night. I am so glad I got to enjoy my reception and be comfortable, rather than stand there in a stunning dress and be miserable. I highly recommend you give yourself the option of doing the same, just in case you want to take it.

Congrats again! I hope all of your wedding days are as beautiful and amazing as mine was!

Hair Styles for the heat?

It's heating up in the Northeast and I've been back and forth with how to wear my hair. I thought I wanted to wear my hair half up half down but if the weather is humid or really hot, I may have to put it totally up. My concern is my back looks kind of muscular and the back is kind of low. looking for a few opinions, should I wear it down or just pull it up and show off my hard work?

Oh and it was hard- I checked that they all had stamps about 15 times, matched them against my list 2 or 3 times. But I am happy to say they will be received by the 3 month mark- which was my goal with our semi-destination wedding that requires planning for all of our guests.

We have uncertain of where to go for our honeymoon. We are talking to a travel agent and she's sent us a few trips. We have talked about and mostly looked into the Virgin Islands, but neither of us are really swimmers so snorkeling and all is out. I'm not sure it's such a great idea if we're not going to do snorkeling and everything water-related. We would also like to stay in the US since we're not sure we'll be able to get our passports in time.

Any suggestions? Where are you going?
