Ohmygosh, I'm going to go out of my mind today. I have to work super late. But only because I have a meeting that doesn't start until 6:30, which is just craziness. I have nothing really to do all day. So far I proof read and emailed in a grad school paper, watched an episode of SYTTD, spent about an hour putting together a presentation for Thursday and for the last maybe two hours I've been listening to recorded grad school lectures. I can't go home between work ending at 5 and my meeting because I live half an hour away, so the extra hour of driving just isn't worth it. In fact, yesterday was the only day this week I'm not working stupidly late. But because my agency is non profit, anything worked outside of business hours we're required to take off/flex into our schedules. I'm hoping the only upside is working enough overtime to take all day next Friday off. Fingers crossed, haha.

Anyways, I'm clearly horridly bored. Someone talk wedding-y things with me. Tell me about flowers... I don't know how much flowers costs. What's the going rate for various bouquets- BM, bride, bouts, etc. For those of you using fake flowers, are they really cheaper? I know high quality ones are sometimes more expensive.

Hi everyone!

My fiance and I are recently engaged and are planning our wedding, tentatively scheduled for next June. We have been talking about colors, and I mentioned that because I always planned on having a fall wedding, I dreamed of using "sun colors" - yellow, orange, and red. However, I am a teacher, which is the reason we've planned our wedding for June. My fiance is insistent that if these colors are what I see in my mind, that's what we will do. Any suggestions on how to "summer"-ify these fall colors?

I know I want to use quite a bit of sunflowers - some in my bouquet, bridesmaids' bouquets, centerpieces, etc., but any other tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I've seen a few posts recently about girls ordering dresses from DB and having them discontinued right after, or saying they had until X date to order them, then a few days before the cut off date not letting them order. Just be careful. Don't want another PoB incident, or that other place that shut down without notice in NJ a few weeks ago.

I know it's not vent day yet, but anyone have any pet peeves/annoying things that your FI does sometimes? Every now and then I'll get in a mood, like after a bad day or something particularly annoying happens, and FI will do some annoying little thing that makes me thing WTH???

For example, the other night he got home late from work. I heated up dinner from him, and when he finished he put it in the sink and proceeded to wash it. I told him to leave it, I'll do it since he worked all day, but he did it anyway. Nice right? Well, 10 min later I go to pour soda down the sink, and I see the sink drain filled with food from the dishes. He knows I HATE that and that it grosses me out beyond belief, I hate touching it. Yet he left it there. Why bother doing me a favor if it is going to be done half assed? I can think of some other things, but I'll leave it at that, lol.

Tonight, FI was home when I walked it (put a deposit down on limos today) and he was laying in bed. The blanket was all in a ball so I grabbed it to fix so I could lay down, and he jumped down my throat that he was sleeping and I was "busting balls." He proceeded to be extra grouchy and fight with me over hamburgers, and we currently are taking a break and watching tv in dif rooms. Ugh, men sometimes.....sometimes I feel like I have a 5 year old child, not a fiance, lol.

Anyone else have things like this to share?

So some of the regular ladies on here are familiar but just a quick run down for those who don't know...

I am very close to an uncle of mine who was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma last year. We have had ups and downs with his recovery, and at the moment we are in a down my aunt from cali flew out and his hair is growing back so I think there is something fishy he isn't sharing

Anyhow, we are staying positive as this type is typically quite treatable. So I have known for a while that I will be doing donation favors to leukemia and lymphoma society in honor of him and will be printing out cards that explain this to our guests. The wording will be something like "in lieu of favors, a donation to the leukemia and lymphoma society has been made in the name of our guests in honor of uncles name"

What I have to consider, unfortunately, is what if something terrible happens and he wont make it to the wedding. Gosh this is hard to even type, but anyway if something did happen, will "in honor of" still be ok instead of "in memory of"? I will have to order them at minimum a few weeks prior to the wedding so I don't know what I should do. Of course id like to order them sooner so its another check but ugh, hate the thought of having to wait just to see how he is doing...

So this weekend we had all my FI's family over for his good luck party and of course everyone started talking about the wedding.
Let me give a short back story first. I have already decided that my sister, my niece and one of my close gf's would be my BP. When we first got engaged my FI had said I should have his niece as a BM which I was on the fence about since I wasn't really that close to her. I suggested I ask one of his cousins, that I actually talked to and hung out with occasionally. Both these ideas were nixed since he didn't really want to ask anyone besides his 3 best friends.
Well yesterday when the wedding was brought up the two of them started talking like they were already in the wedding party and if they weren't they would get similar dresses and act like they were. Now I know they were joking but they both want to be involved and I wouldn't mind having them but that would make 3 BM and 2 MOH which is a bigger wedding then I had ever thought I would have.

I don't know what to do, I don't want to offend his family but I'm not sure if we want a big WP or if he even has a clue who else he would ask.

I can't believe how quickly that happened - went to Kleinfeld in NYC on the weekend not intending to buy as it was my first gown hunting trip. Left with an Amsale dress that was a bit of a departure from what I had orginally thought I would get. Thought I wanted something sleeker like this:

http://www.amsale.com/bridal/amsalecollection/dresses/nayaf.jpg

But once I put on some dresses with a fuller skirt, I realized I felt more "bridal" in them and ended up with this:

http://www.amsale.com/bridal/amsalecollection/dresses/lauren.shtml

I also got a crystal encrusted sash to bling it up which will be sewn in and will not interfere with the bow in the back. Got a veil as well - fingertip length with silk ribbon edging the tulle.

I am happy with my choice - I instantly felt like this dress was "me" - and I suppose I could have tried on more than 6 dresses in total, but I am kind of relieved to be done with it. Wouldn't have had time to look after July anyways since I'll be in med school. Do I think there might be a dress out there I liked even better? Possibly. Worth the hassle of continuing to look? Nah. ;-)

The more I look at it, the more love it. :-)

WHAT?! Seriously! My mother, of all people also is trying to tell me that I need to change my date! HELP! I'm so irritated. I am not changing my date for any reason. My FI and I chose the date for a reason!
I have always had a bad relationship with my sister. We fight all the time and when she went away to college I thought it was the best day of my life. We have not lived in the same state for the past 14 years and we never even talk on the phone like friends/sisters. I have never gone to visit her and other than a couple of Christmases with the whole family she has never come to just visit me. I seriously only talk to my sister on the phone on her or my birthday or Christmas. Right from the get go I told my Mom that I didn't want her in the wedding because we don't get along. (from verbal fighting to actually fighting). I don't want to agure with her and it turn into a fight with either bruises or crying on the wedding day. She was really upset that her only two daughters can't be in each others wedding. She said it would look really bad that my only sister wasn't even in my wedding. And that is not what sisters do. But we have never even been like sisters that fight sometimes and then most times we get along great. We basically just stayed out of each other's way when we lived in the same house.
Anyways would you put your sister in your bridal party if you had a relationship like mine?

We are having an Engagement Party this coming weekend, the day after our one year mark! : )

My aunt and mom thought it would be cute to do favors and do a prelude save the date type of thing, since everyone is asking what our wedding date is! Soo this is what we came up with. Our party ends at 7, but most of us will be having a bonfire at a different location, plus its summer, so I thought s'mores fit perfectly. I just need to add the tags that are going to say "Erin & Aaron June, 15, 2013."

I can't put this FB, so I am sharing here and FI obvi isn't too keen on talking about it.

We just talked to his mother, and she is at her parents house. She left FI's dad today, been married 27 years. Something instigated it but she doesn't want to share just yet. I am really hoping this is just her getting away for a little bit to think, I can not see them actually being apart they do everything together. But I mean I also don't want her to stay if she's unhappy with him. He's a good guy he just, he really instigates (stupid things, like poking wars and stuff when she doesn't feel like playing) and he is incredibly stubborn, so she sort of loses her say on things she really wants. But she does sort of like drama (though shes never done this before), so I want to think this is just her way to say hey, im serious you better straighten up but is not actually wanting to leave.

That's what I am hoping for, I don't want them to have issues! This will be so hard for them (and FI) if their 1st born is getting married while their marriage is struggling :-(

I just passed the one year out mark (June 2, 2013 wedding), and am all of a sudden really nervous that I don't have enough time to do everything.
I have been lurking around and reading and researching, but feel like I don't have all the necessary ideas and information to do what needs to be done.
We are on a budget as it is a second wedding, and I still support three kids......so I have a lot of DIY projects that I have been doing, and it's been reassuring to tell myself that I have lots of time, but all of a sudden, i just don't feel that way anymore. I feel like time is going to fly now, and I don't know if I can keep up.
Anyone else going through this?

Today marks one year until the big day! My sister is currently on a plane on her way here for a weekend of wedding planning-related activities. Tonight we're going to our venue to check out the renovations that were done over the winter, and so that my sister can get a feel for the place since we're going dress shopping tomorrow. :) I have appointments at 3 different salons tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed to fall in love with something amazing. Then on Saturday we're taking a mini road trip to check out a band that we've been interested in booking for the wedding. Yay! I feel like I'm getting things done for once! lol
