Does anyone know their ancestry?

On my dad's side, my grandfather was Irish and French, but my grandmother is half Native American....which kills me because I am like goldie locks meets snow white...
On my mom's side, we've traced my grandfather to have Irish roots and I have no idea about my grandmother.

I was just curious to know if you ladies knew your ancestry...It pretty cool to find out, well, at least IMO it is :)

So I want to know what colors you all want to use for your wedding and if there is any reason for choosing them!

I'm going to be using Purple and Blue as Purple is my favorite color, and Blue is my fiance's favorite. :) We want the day to really show it's about us.

Hey ladies! Sorry to brag but I had to lol. My fiance works his butt off at the warehouse he works at. He won Employee of the Month! His prize was a $150 giftcard :) I'm so proud of him!! So to celebrate we're going to St. Louis next month for a weekend. I'm soo excited to get away =)

Short Dresses

So as soom of you know I'm going dress shopping in a couple of months. My FI and my wedding is simple and a little casual (he is wearing a suit with no jacket).

I have always loved tea length dresses... but now I'm not sure. What do you ladies think of short dresses for weddings?

Hey everyone :) Hope your weekend is starting off good!

Yesterday turned out pretty good! After FI's liquid lunch, I made friends with the waitress and found out she knows a woman who owns a law firm. She took my information and said she would pass it on to her. For either a part-time job gaining experience or for my internship that I need to do in the upcoming year to get my degree! Eek!! I'm so excited about this!

And then I went home and had 2 large glasses of wine and tried to paint my dogs toenails. [this is why I should never be left unsupervised while drinking lol]

FI is out helping a friend of his move and I should be writing a paper for school..instead I'm catching up on my shows on Hulu and browsing TK. :)

April Sig Challenge - Bouquet Inspiration!

Hey guys,

It's that time again (Can you believe it?!)

I thought I would start a poll to get the ball rolling on the choice of our sig for next month!

I don't remember the bunch of options I had last month (since the thread broke and still doesn't work for me) so I'm just winging it with a couple of ones I remember and hope you awesome gals come up with something haha!

Don't forget, the pictures don't have to be 100% accurate as to what you are going to have! I know some haven't planned out what their bouquet will look like for example so feel free to still participate with any nice bouquet photo you find and like (who knows, you might find yourself planning that afterwards haha)

Also, thoughts on making this a sticky? (With the awesome activity on the board, I want to keep this thread easy to find so all can participate if they'd like to!) I could make it a sticky for the week and remove it when finished.

Small wedding vs. big wedding

I want something small FI wants something bigger. I don't wanna spend a lot of money getting married. He doesn't mind. I'm thinking 35 guests tops he is at 150. Not sure what to do. I've never been a huge wedding girl so it's not really my thing. Small wedding nice dinner an I'm cool. Family also wants. Big wedding both sides. I'm just venting! Dress RE-Selection

So, when I bought my dress I thought I loved it. As I thought about it more and more after I got home I began having second thoughts...actually I think I had second thoughts before I left the store. I think the problem was I had too many people there (7) with too many opinions. I called hte shop today and they are letting me do a re-selection on Saturday. This time I am only taking my sister and best friend. I'm not even taking my mom (she's fine with that). Praying I find something I absolutely love!

So I think for centerpieces I'm doing something I saw on pinterest with mason jars. And also for favors I was going to get mm's in my wedding colors and put them in lil boxes...however that really adds up so I do know at the ceremony I'm giving out bubbles. So I don't really know what I should do favor wise or if they are a must have thing. Then even though I'm having a photographer I was thinking about putting disposable cameras at the tables for guests to also take there own pictures for us.

Sooo, last time I posted I was venting about this stupid job dilemma I had. (I am a teacher.) The place I applied at hired in district after posting the job on the internet. SO frustrating. ANYWAYS, I had an interview Tuesday to be the director of a childcare center, preschool, and toddler center and guess what, THEY LOVED ME!! :) Now I have a job, with decent pay, and benefits. This is SUCH a relief!

Wedding Wednesday

It is Wednesday today, right? I'm all messed up on what day of the week it is.

I feel like I've done a lot, but I don't know. Rob and I settled on flower girls. We've discussed ordering our wedding rings (we both picked them out a while ago). I'm gathering my bridesmaids for a second round of BM dress shopping and have a time and date decided on, I just have to call and make the appointment. My mom and I started discussing flowers. She has a close friend who is a florist and we're debating doing silk arrangements and real bouquets/boutonnieres. I think that's it. Nothing concrete. Just a lot of planning talk and ideas.

Flower trial

I did a bit of a flower trial to see if it was something I could do myself. I only did a centerpiece and boutonniere. I learned a lot.

- Do NOT go out on a Saturday afternoon looking for flowers. Every bunch of flowers I found was extremely dead-looking. Maybe Wednesdays are better for a good selection?

- Flowers do perk up wth a trim and flower food, but only so much.

- Ranunculus stems are crap. They're like big dandelion stems. I'm sure there's a way to work with them using sticks or pins, but I'm sticking to lower-maintenance roses and carnations.

- A few peach carnations blend in with my pink roses really well. I got light pink, med. pink, dark pink, burgundy, and white just so I could play around wiith different combinations. All together, they look stunning.

- The centerpiece looked lumpy and bumpy, and I couldn't get things evened out. But after about 4 hours, they started opening up, and it just looked gorgeous.

- My cousin was a florist for 10 years, and I may have to get her help with boutonnieres and corsages. I could do them, but other people have to walk around wearing them all day. :)

I can totally see myself preparing the flowers on Thursday, making the centerpieces on Friday, and having my son deliver them to the DOC on Saturday. I know most people don't want the hassle around their wedding day, but this is important to me.

I couldn't find enough flowers to do a bouquet trial. I think I'll save that for later in the year when I'm itching to do something bridal again. I'll see if I can get a picture online tonight.

So apparently, they *do* have a forum! I might block it on both computers so FI doesn't find it and start biitching about how I drag him to all kinds of antique shops looking for brooches. Or, heaven forbid-I won't let him grow out a "playoff beard" since our engagement pictures are coming up and I don't want him to look like a caveman. ::rolls eyes::

The more I read, the more ticked off I become. It's like they think we are some wedding-obsessed demons and the only thing they are interested is HM sex on a beach somewhere. That quote above about not looking forward to the wedding or marriage PISSES me off. IMHO, if my fiance wasn't looking forward to our wedding and our marriage-then we have no business getting married.

Hi Everyone!
I have my makeup consult tomorrow and FI and I have our engagement session! I have read so many different things about who to tip and who not to tip and a lot of them I don't agree with! Like I read that you shouldn't tip your hairdresser if they come to you but you should tip if you go to a salon (I would tip my hairdresser either way - especially where they are coming to me because they are losing a whole day of business!).

Anyway my question to you ladies is should I tip the makeup artist when I get my consult? Also have any of you had your E-session? I'm getting so excited/nervous! TIA!

The blue is killing me. It makes me depressed and reminds me of a winter wedding. Blue, silver, and white, to me, is wintery. I want pink. Well more of a blush or dusty rose pink with oh say some green and ivory...that sounds and looks awesome. FI could wear green since he is so against wearing pink.
Oh I don't know. I just feel like I'm going crazy or something. None of the plans for this wedding are me. They just don't suit me. I feel like I'm been trying to please my family as well a matron BM who is like a second mother to FI. Her ideas for this wedding are more of a classy grand event and that's just not me. She is more heels, and I'm more boots. She's planning big vases and all I want is mason jars. She's not pushy with it, so this is all my fault and I own that.

Hey Ladies,

Sorry I've been MIA lately due to a bunch of stuff - Birthday last week and prepping for my party this past weekend in addition to getting sick the day before the party yikes lol Oh and my computer broke so that didn't really help things out haha

Anyhoo, I'm back and eventually will be caught up after I get my work caught up :)

And today is Monday so we all know that's AW Monday :)

My AW: I think I threw a pretty awesome party over the weekend. Had a bunch of people show up and kept getting complimented on the food and the candy bar. The candy bar was my fave thing. All week prior I was scouting out cool vases to use and found the Martini and wine glass huge vases and then accented them with a bunch of others I found at a couple other stores. It was so fun to watch a bunch of adults acting like kids again haha

Oh and because I picked out my own bday cake - I thought it was kinda odd to put "Happy Birthday Dee" on it so I decided to go with something funnier (and a saying I quote every so often) I'll post a photo of it heehee The bakery people we're amused and the little old lady asked me to repeat myself like 3 times hahaha

I might have some pictures of the candy bar also
