Date/Venue Officially Set!

This weekend we officially booked a venue and our date is locked in! I am so excited and it made everything feel so real to actually have our "countdown" be official. We are getting married on June 28, 2014. We were both so happy because that's the date we had been hoping for all along. :) We are getting married in my church and the reception is going to be held in a very rustic Civil War era barn. The barn has been restored and renovated to have air conditioning and other modern amenities while still keeping it's old rustic/country look. We were so thankful to get the barn as our reception hall and the date we wanted because it's so popular for our area and it books up easily two years in advance. I am so overwhelmed with excitement I just had to share it with all of you! :D

We both heard back at our jobs on what vacation days we will be able to get and so we finally SET THE DATE!! We both confirmed our vacation days and that's it. It's set in stone now! Haha Our wedding day is going to be July 4, 2014!!!!!! How cool is that! :D

I will be off Thursday July 3rd to Sunday July 6th. My days off are going to vary a bit from the usual since it's a holiday weekend. My FH is going to be off from Tuesday to Tuesday, July 1st through July 8th. (They are changing their business week in 2013). He might go back to work on the 7th or 8th though since I won't be off too but for right now he's off the whole week. So we decided to go with Friday the 4th for the wedding. I didn't really want to go with Saturday since I have to go back to work on Monday.

We both also got a whole week off in December (2014) and that's when we are going to go on our honeymoon. ;)

I will be taking off a lot of days here and there in 2014 instead of taking off weeks or half weeks so that I can go to wedding appointments. My boss is pretty cool and she said that I might be able to get off the 2nd too. She has to wait to see if it will work or not but she will ok it if she can. Even though she's not really suppossed to.

Now we have to find a venue that is available for 7/4. :)

I bought my dress last week and it has a light blue trim on it. This is the style of my dress-

But the trim color on mine is a light blue.

What do you think of that dress with these flowers? Not the actual flowers just the colors.

My mom thinks that it's too much and the colors kind of clash together. I would do everything else in white and light blue for the wedding so only the flowers would be in all of these colors.

What do you think? Too much? Thanks in advance ladies! :)

It was suggested in a post that since the board doesn't have many members we have a question of the week instead of a question of the day. So let's take a vote to see everyone's preferences.

ETA1: Voting will end June 29th (I know some people aren't on here daily and I would like for them to have imput as well). In the meantime, I will continue QOTD.

ETA2: Considering QOTD has zero votes lol, I am going to post a QOTW and then do a GTKY (Get To Know You) Poll around wednesday or so.

I found an app for the iphone/ipad that lets you create your own photobooth and it's only .99 cents! So I could potentially create my own photobooth for under 100 dollars! Guess who's gonna have a photobooth at their reception! This girl! I'm gonna have so much fun making props and stuff for it. I am super super super excited now if you can't tell.

Today marks two years, or 730 days to go!

I can't believe that in two years I will be saying "I Do". It has already felt like I have been engaged forever. But now that I have reached the two year mark, it all seems surreal. And it has been a big wake up call. As in, I need to get my crap together and start actually planning this wedding! Haha.

Bridal Show

Hey ladies!

I went to the Bridal Show yesterday and it was SO much fun! There were about 50 vendors there, maybe more, and had everything from Cake to Lighting. We went ot a fashion show as well. :) I was nervous about first talking to the vendors when they asked me my date, I thought they would laugh or be like that's SO far away! (One lady actually did make a statement similar) But other than that they were fine! Some even toldme I could book them then and there! But I did not, i just gathered info. I have a few in mind I plan to use though.

Also,I won 600.00 off for the groomsmen wear and FREE 4 hours for a photobooth! #Score! :D It was a great way to end my day.

Torn on venues

Okay ladies I am torn.

What I want to do is kinda mean to the out of town guests and just anyone in general. I want my ceremony at the butterfly house in the texas discovery gardens and then I want the reception at the fort worth stockyards. Drive time between the two places 50 minutes. I know that there is no way my parents will ever ever ever agree to that. I can't decide what is more important to me. The butterflies or the reception site. I guess I could try to find something similar in design to the stockyards closer to dallas. I just don't know what to do.

What are your opininons on this?
We picked June 21, 2014 - basically I gave B a couple of dates and that's the one he chose.
I literally just found out that that is the day my parents got married on. Ordinarily I would think that this was good luck, but they divorced when I was two.
However they are still good friends and have a good relationship.

Do you think that this date would be a sign of bad luck because they are divorced?

I know it's kinda dead right now but trust me it will pick up. I was a June 2013 bride until we decided to wait a bit longer. At first it was dead but the closer it gets the more brides will join this board. And June is a very popular wedding month :) Yay for June brides!

I have already been through the booking process (only to have to cancel...every...single...one) , so maybe I can help you all when it comes time to book venues and photogs and such. If you want my help of course :)

Since we currently don't have a mod (and will most difantly need one in the future), I filled out an application and emailed it to the "Knot Gods". I hope that doesn't offend anyone that I did this.

Anyone else who is interested and qualified should email an application as well.

Our theme is Rustic so naturally we want an outdoor wedding. We are both very outdoorsy people; We both love fishing and hunting. I've been on TK for a while because I am a very over-ambitious person! Originally I was going to get married July 6, 2013 but my parents don't want me to get married until after I graduate (May '14) and B wants to abide by that. So, we've gone from next year to in two years!

we thought we would have a problem with his mother. so not the case, our problem is my gram. a little back info, she raised me. we talked to her about the date (which is decided June 14, 2014)...we're rushing it. we told her where we're having the ceremony and reception...it's too expensive because we have to have it catered. !!!!

I am having a issue, sometimes my FI is all about helping with the wedding plans. Other times, he gets angry and says all I talk about is the wedding. He picked the location and seems excited sometimes. I really do not talk about the wedding all that much. It is just recently I have been working on collecting addresses for the Save the Dates. I have asked him several times to get me addresses for his friends and coworkers. Always he gets angry when I ask. I have also asked him to pick his groomsmen and ask them and again he gets angry. I don't know what to do. Any advice is appreciated?
