My father is no longer with us, so I will not have a father daughter dance. I was thinking of having a special dance for my daughter who is 8 and her new stepdad and then having the DJ ask other dads join them in dancing with their daughters. Has anyone ever seen this done? Is it a weird idea? Any song suggestions? I posted this in second weddings, but love hearing from you all and wanted your opinions too!

It felt so weird filling it out...definitely a surreal moment (I am getting married WhAt!?!). Just thought I would share this rather monumental moment with my knot girls.

P.S. I tried to look up Britney Spear's marriage license but my computer was being wonky and didn't show any results...bummer haha.

My FI and I are still struggling on finding the right home for us. We know it's a buyers market and homes are a lot less expensive than they were several years ago. So we thought it would be a great time to buy a house. We have been searching for several months now. We CANNOT find anything that we would even consider having as our home. We had hoped to find a home and be in it by the wedding but right now it is not looking like it. Then, there's the fact that winter is fastly approaching, and it's really not a time people put their homes up for sale. There have been a lot of beautiful homes we have seen but they are fast approaching 100+ years. I love the character the older homes have, but there is just some much work and money that is going to need to go into these homes. Then the other issue is most of our town is in a flood zone and we obviously do not want a house that has had or gets a lot of water in the basement and if it's in the flood zone you're required to have flood insurance which can be pretty costly. With all this being said, we may just consider building a home. We can have it made to our wants and needs and sometimes it can even be cheaper to build than buy. If we did this, they wouldn't be able to start until spring so that means we will be renting the first few months of our marriage. This is completely fine by me because the end result will be a home we both love and will live in the rest of our lives and raise our family in. This has just been the most frustrating process. With all these homes for sale, I thought we would have found one fairly quickly. If anyone has any tips or suggestions on building a home, please let me know. Thanks for letting me vent.

So I'm not sure why this came to me but I was just thinking about my girls (bridesmaids) and I want to do really special touches for them that don't cost a bunch of money, becasue well I don't have it ha. So I was already thinking of doing these for their bouquets becasue I know they will love them:

And then I got the idea to sew a patch inside their bridesmaids dresses with some hearfelt message sort of inspired by these:

And I thought up the idea to maybe sew a little heart inside their dresses in the boobish area (well because that is where your heart is) and somehow get the heart to say "A good friend is like a good bra: supportive, hard to find and close to the heart" and then my name and the date? I'm not sure how....I'm open to suggestions. I thought get fabric and maybe they make pens with dye in them that I could use?? Like a sharpie with fabric dye...hmmmm

What do you think? Too over the top. A cute touch? Different quote? Idk Ive never seen it done before so i'm tentative

Good Morning Ladies! My mom is having a tough time finding a dress/suit. We've looked at JCP, Dress barn, Lane Bryant & DB. She is not comfortable in anything low cut or too tight. I told her that if she wants to wear a pants suit, that would be ok too (she has never been comfortable in dresses). So I guess my question is, what are your mom's wearing? Where did they find their outfit?

TMI ALERT! Brazilian Test Run Experience (Long).....

Just got home from my very first Brazilian experience ever! If some of you didn't know, I had been asking suggestions about this. I usually just shave everything, but didn't want to be picky on my wedding and honeymoon. I decided to do a test run to make sure my skin didn't have a bad reaction to it cause I am very fair and have pretty sensitive skin, rather than come to find that out my honeymoon week! So anyway...this is probably way too much info and some of you prob don't want to hear it...but in case your wondering if you should do it or wondering what it was like here it goes (cause I wish I would have had something like this to read!)

Sooo.....Wow....let me just say, that was the most painful thing I have ever done in my life. And most of my back is covered in tattoos. I have sat through 6 hour sessions of tattooing before. And none of that compared to this...

I was so nervous all day...about if it would hurt, if I would be uncomfortable doing it, if I would have a bad reaction. I went to a spa that is inside of my gyno's office. My girl was super nice and so sweet. She immediately made me feel comfortable and we just talked about what I wanted. I told her I didn't want any of my butt area done but the rest of it I wanted gone. I knew they offered body sugaring and body waxing there and I asked her the difference and asked her which I should do. She said she ALWAYS recommends body sugaring over waxing. She said waxing uses a chemical and it takes off everything including your top layer of skin which is okay, but usually causes reactions for people with sensitive skin. Sugaring only adheres to the hair and it pulls it from the root. Another thing about sugaring is that they can go over the same area more than once to make sure to get all the hairs, and with waxing, you can only go over an area once and if hairs are missed you have to wait. So I opted for the sugaring. She let me change into a disposable pair of undies. I got to keep them on the whole time and felt SUPER comfortable! I guess watching movies I always thought that I would be naked and have my leg raised high in the air and it was NOTHING like that. She was just able to move the underwear to the side and do small areas. She had a big sugar blob that she would rub onto my hair that then pull up quickly with her fingers. She used the same sugar blob the whole time. She said that was another good thing about sugaring, everyone gets their own ball of sugar and then it is thrown away. She said sometimes with waxing, some salons will double dip with the waxing stick and the wax will harbor bacteria. It was actually really neat, the whole process...but DAMN it hurt!!! She told me since it was my first brazilian it would hurt the worst but would be less painful after. Also, I have to go back in 2 weeks and get the stray hairs that haven't grown in fully yet (but again that is only when you get your first one). But I will tell you what...I am so freakin' smooth down there. Baby butt smooth! And to know that I will be like this for 4-6 weeks makes that short 10 minutes of pain seems soooo worth it! I am kinda pink but not too bad, and extremely surprised because my skin is soooo sensitive.

I was so sold after she did it I went ahead and made an appointment for January 30th and then one for March 5th. It only cost me $65 and I believe the maintenance appointments are cheaper (the first one costs more because of the 2 week follow up included). I just might keep this up after the wedding too...it is so nice to know I don't have to shave for soooo long!

So ladies, if your even toying with the idea...DO IT! But definitely go now for a test run! Let me know if you have any questions....

P.S. So sorry for the novel!

... yea we're not friends. Especially this week.

Let me preface this by saying I LOVE dogs. I have a big 65lb shelter mutt who is pretty much the greatest thing since sliced bread, grew up with dogs, frequently pet random stranger's dogs, and would bring every homeless dog home if I could afford to.

However... I've never been a huge fan of little dogs. I don't know why. I always had big dogs growing up, and maybe I'm a bit biased. I've made great attempts to learn to love FI's 11 lb miniature doxie, but he's making it so hard.

This little dog is the most spoiled, needy animal I've ever met. He steals food, toys, and the bed from Mac (mine) and Mac just let's him because he's basically a giant teddy bear. Little dog will bark and whine and b!tch all day if I'm not paying attention to him. I work from home, sorry little dog... you're not top priority from 8-6.

But this week has been too much. First, I caught him chewing up the baseboards on the corner at the top of the stairs. Sprayed bitter apple all over it. So he started eating a door instead. Coated that in bitter apple. Today, he ate my brand new, worn only once, Clemson beanie (complete with embroaidered Tiger paw, ear flaps, and poofy thing up top). And I have to be the bad guy because the damn dog will act like an angel as soon as FI gets home.

The dog hates me.

Ok, I'm done. Thanks for reading my doggie b!tch fest. :)

I also posted this on the "Invitations" board, but you guys all seem really helpful, so here's my question...
We are having both the ceremony and reception at the same place and are doing a very short ceremony (maybe 15-20 minutes including processional and recessional). Our cocktail hour starts at 6 PM, so working backwards, I figured we would start the ceremony at 5:30 and put 5 PM on the invitations, but someone said that people will get there early anyway and then will be waiting for almost an hour... so they suggested putting 5:30 on the invitations and start just a few minutes later. I am unsure what to do... Any advice?!?
