Sorry, I've been MIA. I was crazed this week getting ready because I'm having surgery Monday morning. They're going to rebuild my hip so the bones stop rubbing together. The idea is it'll elimnate a lot of pain and buy be 15ish yrs before I need a hip replacement.

So, send all your good thoughts and healing prayers my way. I'll be in the hodpital until Weds. I'll check in when I can.

Invisalign Question

Hello ladies!

I have a question - I've finally convinced my FI to look into invisalign. Do you girls have any experience with it? Do we have enough time before March to make a difference? I'm sure even if he's not done with treatment (looks like its a year long thing), it'll help.

We'd start mid-Nov, and our wedding in end of March.

He never had braces/dental work, except his wisdom teeth removed. They aren't terrible, but can greatly be improved.

Wedding Budget

I've been keeping a running list of every dollar spent on anything wedding. I was adding in the last few purchases this morning, and wow, we're spending so much more than I ever thought we would. Between the venue and vendors (we have a package deal), photography, additional decorations/DIY projects, attire, accessories, HM, all of the above, it's adding up so, so quickly!

So, I began wondering, what is your guys' budget? Here's a poll if you'd like to be anonymous, but if you'd like to elaborate, feel free to do that as well. :)

We had our first cake tasting yesterday and we ended up designing our whole cake!

It will look similar to this but with cornflower and navy blue ribbons:

The flowers on the top will be (edible) hyrdrangeas. Alternating designs on the cake layers will go damask-quilted-damask-quilted, and our flavors are white almond infusion and red velvet. We are so excited and got an AWESOME deal because we will be on Four Weddings.... Yay!

Today was SUCH a great day.

I picked up my dress today so I was able to see it for the very first time on. I love it! It's still about a quarter of an inch too small, but since I still have 4 months, I'm not worried. My mom loved it, as did I and the sales girl. There weren't any tears, but we all loved it. We decided on a veil, but I think I will try to buy one on etsy or perhaps even make it myself, since $200 seems like an awful lot for a 12 inch simple birdcage veil. Everything seems so much more real now! Hooray!

All of my BM dresses came in last night, so I was able to look them over and they look great as well. Then we did a cookie tasting and I made the final payment on my vintage wedding band. A very successful day today!

Picked out HIS ring today

I am so excited, we picked out my FI's ring today. When he bought my engagment ring he found a set that matches and I am totally in love with. He did good.

We went to the place he bought my ring and found his today. He is not easy because we doesn't wear ANY jewlery at all, ever.

Our wedding date is 03.17.12 and we are both of Irish decent :)

This past week has been such a wedding productive week for my FI and I. I did very little last month for the wedding only because of mine and my FI birthday and we were both traveling.

So far in the past week we have

Ordered our invites (yay)...ordered out sealing Wax (Will post pics once everything is done)....We just got done with a 2 day Pre Marital class ( Which was amazing!!!) Also, 4 out of the 5 bridesmaids have purchased their dresses :), we updated our wedding regeristy, and we received out monogram napkins and card holder for the wedding!!! Some of these seem minor but im happy the little things are getting done!

I hope you ladies are able to get things done these next 2 months with the holidays coming up!!!

Finally picked out my earrings today. JCPenny was having a really good sale so I got my earrings (retailed at 80) and a shirt for 21 dollars. So I was super happy! I think I may go back and get the necklaces similar to the earrings to give to my bridesmaides (it's customery to give BM's Jewelry in this area).

Its deer hunting opener here for gun/ rifle this weekend. So for lunch we go to the bar to eat have a couple of drinks.... I am standing because I've been sitting all morning ... Start to stretch the old man sitting across the bar throws a dollar at me and says "that's the best lookin' stretch I've seen here in a long time"... I look at him like wtf.... Then he tells me he will be there all night! Def a laugh!

Since we are having our wedding in Vegas and driving up to California, I just knew I wanted to write "Just Married" on the back of our rental car. I was planning to buy the window paint and write it myself.

THEN...I read on project wedding that alot of rental car places don't allow you to do that! Instead PW suggested you do a window decal...

So a search on etsy proved to be quite awesome as many etsy vendors do this personalized...what an idea! And I figure it will look way better than my handwriting anyway! Just wanted to share in case anyone else was thinking about doing this!

dress stress (VENT)

Ok so I gained some weight since my dress came in. When it came in it zipped fine, but the bust was about 5 inches from me. Well, last month it did not even zip. So I noticed my tummy went down a bit so I tried it on a few days ago... it zipped... it was super tight, but it zipped. The bust was snug. And my mom could only comment about all the fat that "hung over just a litle" on my back. I don't know why but ever since I gained weight she is so critical of me. Now when we talk about the wedding I feel like she's always talking about the fat on my back. (I'm sure I'm just insecure and think shes talking about it more than she is, but that is just it I am so insecure.) So my first fitting is Dec 3. I have not really lost any weight this whole year. I'm not very good at working out and even when I do we eat out so much I just stay the same.

So now I'm wondering if I need to have some sort of lace back and sleeves added to my dress... I know I have a month(ish) until my fitting but I'm really freaking out that I won't lose any weight.

Anyone awake?

There is really not much of a point to this post, OTHER than that I am at work for another hour and I am bored. to. tears. Typically I am pretty steady but right now, nada. I should be thankful, I have time to read blah blah but when it gets this late all I can think about is my bed (I know it is only 9 but it is late for me haha)!. Anyways, just wanted to see how everyone was doing...I finally settled on what to do for a cake...CAKE POPS...since it is in Vegas and we don't have a "traditional" sit down reception I thought these would be fun...

So we just found out today that one of our groomsman will be leaving for basic training for the Marines December 3 and won't be around for the wedding. UGGGGHHHHHHH! Yes an honorable cop out or whatever you want to call not showing up but still super frustrating. I'm anal retentive so I love balanced wedding parties. So this is hard for me to accept ha. But what can ya do?

I'm so happy! Me and FI finally booked our honeymoon last night! 5 Day Western Carribbean Cruise! :) We won't be leaving for it right after our wedding, we're getting married the 15th and leaving the 18th.. gives a few days to pack and open gifts.

I know I could have gone to the ediquette board but I like you guys better :) Question about whether or not I should feel obligated to give a +1........

Background: I have a friend from high school that was on the "maybe" list but eventually made it to the invited list... I don't see her much and she just moved several hours away (and in with her boyfriend) so I don't really keep up with her on again off again relationship that she's had for the past 4 years or so. I sent her a STD with her name and boyfriend's name (last minute change from just her name). Saw another hs friend a few weeks ago who indicated that they're no longer together and she's "moving out soon". So........ I'm wondering if I need to give her a + 1.. but I hate that she'll be given the option to bring someone completely random to my wedding and she almost hadn't been invited in the first place... (and I have to cross other people off that I do know for random people?? I know this is something a lot have to work with)

One of the things that's making this difficult is that I am inviting four other hs friends (one of which is her best friend, so it's not like she won't know anyone) BUT all four of them are in serious relationships.... aka she'd be the only one without a date.

So as most of you all know, FI and I have been looking for a house. We found a house we really love and no other house has come close to this one. My FI was going to talk about it with his dad and then make an offer on Monday (his dad had agreed to help us financially and with making a good offer). However, he is not t he easiest person to please and told FI that we needed to keep looking and basically he wasn't going to help if we got this house. We looked at the house twice, once just us and then once with both our dads.

I completely trust my dad's opinion when it comes to houses. He knows what he is talking about, his uncle use to build houses as well as his dad. He even had a part in every single thing they did when they built my parents house. He knew the questions to ask. Where as FFIL wouldn't even know which way to hammer a nail in. I was confident that the house we loved would be a great home for us and future children. We also get a lot of flooding in this area and the house has never had water in the basement which is another huge plus.

For some reason FI's dad thinks this is a terrible house. FI sounded so disappointed last night after he talked to his dad. I have never heard him this disappointed and it broke my heart. So now we are at the point where we either continue looking for a house that his dad would be willing to help us with, or go on our own and get a loan and just go about it ourselves. My FI is really stuck on what to do because if his dad helped us, he was talking about giving us enough to actually pay for a house in full which would be a complete and totally blessing and free up finances to really save for ours and our children's future.
Or do we continue to peruse a house we both love have a smaller down payment and take out a loan? Although it would be affordable, it will just be longer until it's paid off.

Although it is very generous and kind for my FFIL to help us buy our first home, I just wish he wouldn't be so critical. My FI felt totally deflated when he talked to him. I know he is looking out for our well being, but if you knew this man, he is very hard to please, and I don't think he would ever be completely pleased on anything. So we are at a stand still right now until we figure out what to do. Thanks for letting me vent!

My MOH and I have planned my b-party and the Facebook invite went out about 10 minutes ago and someone's already RSVPd!

We're having it in VEGAS on February 18th (the last weekend before we leave on the cruise). I am already going to be in town for a convention so it seemed fitting. Now I better cancel my Sunday morning classes! Haha!

I just can't believe how close everything is getting. Eeeeeeh!!!

FI and I have been looking for a house. We found one we love. We looked at it once then again with our parents. We've (I mean him) debating on whether or not to pursue it. Just to set his mind at ease I told him we could keep looking. Well we looked at a house today and it was atrocious! So it sealed the deal for my FI on wanting the other house we looked at (I always loved it). We talked tonight and he is going to discuss it with his dad and probably make an offer Monday. I'm super excited. We need all the good vibes and prayers we can get. We've heard he's turned down offers, but he's to the point where I think he just really wants to get out. He commutes to work which is over an hour away (he lost a job because of missing work in the winter and has a new one now). So we may be lucky enough to get him to come down on his list price. So excited!

Just wondering... What's the best advice you've received from friends / family as you've been planning your wedding?

My best friends mother called me up back in July to talk about the wedding and the typical "you need anything at all, let me know" and she's been great about that, too. But she also told me something that's been sticking with me..

"Relax, and go by my 4 day rule - - If it wasn't done four days beforehand, it probably wasn't important enough to you. You should spend those four days relaxed, not stressing out about something that wasn't dear enough to your heart from the beginning. It wasn't meant to be"

And I really like that, I keep thinking about all the stuff that I would *like* to do for the wedding, but I don't like stress. Anyways, I've kept that as my rule now, and it motivates me to really get things done now instead of procrastinating, because if it's not done by that Wednesday, I will not be doing it.

We have only 4 months to go!! Woohoo!!!

Great checks for me today -

Check 1 - My sister finally picked out her MOH dress that compliments the dress my other girls got. (Hoping my other girls will choose this new one instead - just as cute and cheaper!) but it's ok if they don't! :)

Here are the dresses (not on my bm's) They are regency purple & kelly green.

Check 2 - Cakes ordered and deposit paid - 4 dozen cupcakes & 1 tier for the top...and a three tier king cake for the FI

Check 3 - mardi gras feathered masks (favors/decoration) came in today!

Almost check - been writing to the florist and we are thisclose to agreeing on the flowers and putting the deposit down.

Happy Day!! Any checks lately or anything big left to do? I think this puts a cap in all my big stuff...just have smallish stuff to do now!

First and foremost, I know honeymoons have come up a few times here and there, therefore, I apologize for bringing it back! ;) So, where are you guys going for your honeymoon?

The reason I ask is because we still have yet to book ours and it's seriously driving me completely insane! I really want to book something within the next week or two. We're debating between St. Lucia, St. Marteen, and the Dominican Republic. I'm hoping hearing about the details (location, hotel, length, etc.) of your guys' honeymoons will help inspire me to make a final decision. So, tell away! :)

Hi ladies! I feel like I'm asking yall for a lot of opinions lately, but my bridal party is so spread out (and busy with college, a baby, work and medical school) that it's hard to get their opinions on stuff. So thanks for answering all of my random posts caused by my extreme indecision. :-)

For those of you who haven't seen it before, this is my dress:

And maybe I am just being too OCD, but the lace that crosses over the ribbon irritates me because it isn't symmetrical. It kind of leans off toward the left and looks lopsided. I also have an ideeli deal to get this brooch (esentially) buy one, get one free. So, I was thinking about using the other one to pin on my bouquet handle...
