I was hoping that you lovely ladies can help me with a decision. I have fallen in love with the song "Lovely Tonight" by Joshua Radin. The song is gorgeous and the lyrics are beautiful (even the FI likes it!). Problem is, I'm not sure if this should be our first dance song or the song I walk down the aisle to. I asked the FI and he doesn't care either way. Here is a link to the song: Lovely Tonight

My FI infomed me tonight that he's talked to "a lot" of people and they said that Novemeber was wayyy to early. Even though his sister told me she wanted a head count for the cake by january. And there are a few things that I want to wait and do until I get a final head count and I'd rather not wait too much later than January to do so. SO....when are you guys sending out your invitaions?
I apoligize in advance for the wall o'text. We had a 'tasting' tonight and ended up leaving disappointed, frankly.

Backstory: When we first found this venue, we immediately fell in love with it. The owner told us that they don't do private tastings of every entree for us, and that basically we rely on reviews, etc. There were a few other venues we looked at that were the same so it didn't bother me, and I had read a lot of really good reviews in several places online.

Well, a month or so ago we got an invitation to an "Open House and Tasting" so we assumed that they had changed their policy (I know, stupid of me to assume, but what else would I think?). We got there tonight and there were a lot of people there, checking it out, many of whom had already booked like we had (we've already put in three deposits). So, we go to the bar and then they start passing around appetizers.

After a while we're sitting at a table, talking with other couples, and all of us were wondering when they'd do the entrees. One of the representatives (who frankly was pretty annoying, as when we walked in kept saying how it was good to see me, how we had talked so many times, etc. and I had never met the woman before in my life) came to the table and while talking, asking questions, etc. we found out that no, no entrees. Just the appetizers. My FI was ticked, and the other couples weren't very happy either. We did talk to the owner again but they pretty much do not budge on the entrees. Though we did find out that the crab cake balls they were passing are not actually appetizer choices but a taste of their crab cakes (they were very good). We've been pretty torn on going with one of the two chicken dishes offered or sticking with the steak, and now we're no closer to picking anything than we were before the open house.

And with regards to the appetizers - frankly, I was less than impressed. There were scallops wrapped in bacon, chicken/spinach dumplings, fried shrimp, meat & veggie skewers (that had to be eaten with a fork so hardly a passed appetizer IMHO), and a variety of three mini quiche.

Nothing was awful, but to me they all seemed like frozen appetizers that they had warmed up. Except for the skewers, and they were kind of bland. The scallops were definitely the best, so we'll go with those, but I'm not sure which of the others we would pick. Probably the quiche and dumplings, I did not like the shrimp at all. It was fairly clear to me that none of it (except skewers) were made in-house, and it really makes me worry about the reception.

I just hope we didn't make a big mistake going here.

This is a spin off of my answer on the budget brides question. I am very, very frugal (I even write a blog about it!) and one of my favorite frugal websites to pass on to fellow brides is Valuveil: http://www.valuveil.com/wedding-veils.html

1 Tiered Fingertip Veil = $7.99

2 Tiered Fingertip Veil = $10.99

1 Tiered Chapel Veil = $10.99

2 Tiered Chapel Veil = $15.99

Those are just a few examples. They offer shoulder, elbow, finger tip, chapel, and cathedral veils in 1, 2, and up to 3 layers. The most expensive veil is the 3 tiered Cathedral length veil that's only $21.99! You can also add ribbon, cording, or pencil edging and rhinestones and pearls AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE!

I ordered a veil from this website back when I was modeling (WAY back when) and the quality is actually very impressive. For my wedding I was gifted a veil that the bride had paid over $50 for and it was comparable in every way to the veil I got from ValuVeil to wear for modeling purchases.

I do not work for them or even know who runs the company at all. I'm just a past client who wants to pass on the incredible prices that they offer to anyone wanting a nice veil on a budget. They are nothing fancy, but very nice! They are also a US company, which is a great bonus!

So who else is arguing with their FI over weddig stuff?? I'm losing it lol We argued last night trying to look at the proposal from the travel agent for our honeymoon. (Large enough that when he fell asleep on the couch watching football that I left his ass there to sleep the night away!) And then tonight I tried to get him to go over the ceremony and the first dance song and that ended in an argument and tears as well! I feel like we dont' agree on anything! Its like I show him the song that I plan on walking down the aisle to and instead of saying its pretty he says "Your not walking down the aisle to here comes the bride!?!?!" No i'm not. Nobody does anymore. (sorry to the 10% who still hold out on the tradition) and it was like when I finished the unity candle his first words were "I didn't know we were having a Bling theme."

I could scream!! How can people who have been together for 5 1/2 years and love each other so much not agree on a damn thing!?! I was like I don't know what you were taught but I the wedding is a majority the girls thing and you loving me are supposed to say "Honey Whatever makes you happy" He tried to tell me that every couple argues and fights and you just don't see it and that is why I have this ideal of how we should just agree on anything. I just decided that I'm not going to share my ideas with anyone anymore becuase nobody is as excited as me and the only person that ever likes my ideas except my maid of honor who is like my twin...or at least shes got the support, super excited best friend thing down without me telling she is faking. I said this is so dumb to argue over because your not even going to remember what I walked down the aisle to or what was playing as the bridesmaids walked!

Wedding Insanity is setting in!

Several months ago, when I ordered my dress, I ordered the dress 1 size smaller than what was recommended, hoping that I would lose the extra weight. I have since lost quite a bit, but I'm beginning to get nervous. Did anyone else have this sort of excited to wear your dress but nervous that you haven't worked out enough feeling? My ultimate goal was to fit into it when it comes in, and then have it altered down a size in January when the fitting/ alterations process starts.

So one of my very best friends is likely pulling out of the wedding. She is studying to be a Physician Assistant and has a major exam that will more than likely be the week after the wedding.

I totally understand why she is pulling out and support her need to prepare for this exam and get that it may be difficult to attend the rehearsal and pre-wedding stuff and study for the exam, but I am so bummed. I told her we could see what things are like in January/February, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Anyone else have someone pull out or turn down being a bridesmaid?
