<description><![CDATA[Anyone else planning a wedding in Houston for March 2013?

My fiancé and I really want to get married on March 23rd, but we're having a hard time finding what we want in or near Houston:

BYOB preferred (we'd rather serve local craft beers, not Bud Light)
A diverse menu (not the usual chicken breast)
At least 7 hours for ceremony, pictures, and reception
NOT a drab looking banquet hall
$4000 or less for venue, $5000 or less for food

We've started looking at venues in the College Station area too since my fiancé is an Aggie.

Suggestions for pretty, affordable venues are greatly appreciated. I'm getting frustrated and so is he.]]>

<description><![CDATA[Hey Ladies! I am just starting to work on designing our photo guestbook through Blurb.com and I wanted some opinions on my plan! If you aren't familiar with Blurb, its a website which allows you to publish books in really high quality for a great price. (Just google Blurb wedding guestbook and you'll see lots of examples!). <br /><br />Anyway... I don't want to use all of our engagement pictures because we aren't crazy about some of them. So what I was thinking I might do is make it like a journey from where we started (kids) to where we met (college) and then end with our engagement pictures. &nbsp; In the beginning I'll have a little note to our guests thanking them for coming and asking them to sign their names or leave us a note, advice, etc. on all of the white space around the photos. I'd do all of this in about 20 pages. <br /><br />Most of the Blurb guestbooks you see only have the engagement photos, so what do you girls think about me adding pictures of us as kids? Cheesy? Cute? Feel free to be honest.. haha!]]>

<description><![CDATA[I went to my first bridal show today, talk about sensory overload! lol &nbsp; I took my mom and we had a good time. &nbsp; It was on the smaller side, which was good for the first one. &nbsp; The venue it was held at was really nice and it's now one of my top 3 picks. &nbsp;I have to make an appointment for my fiance and I to look at the top 3 this week (he hasn't seen any of them yet). &nbsp;I think we should be putting down our deposit by the end of the week when we make our choice! &nbsp;I'm pretty excited, but really anxious at the same time, because "What if something better comes along?" &nbsp;I'm sure a lot of you are going through the same things and emotions...It's just so much to plan in a short period of time. &nbsp;Oh, and Bed Bath &amp; Beyond was there, and told me I need to start registering soon! &nbsp;I was shocked by this since we aren't having the showers until January. &nbsp; She said 6-8 months prior to the wedding date is the norm. &nbsp; Is this true?? &nbsp;I tentatively planned a date to do it the begining of October, but I feel like I'm rushing on that one...any&nbsp;thoughts?? &nbsp;<img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-undecided.gif" border="0" alt="Undecided" title="Undecided" />]]>

I've been lurking on the boards for a bit and have found them very informative and also entertaining. I am a bit of a late first-time bride as I am 38. He is 41 and never been married, either. Our date is March 2nd, and I have a feeling it will fly by in no time (especially since I'm about to head back into the classroom after a lovely-albeit, extremely hot--summer break). Luckily we are having a very small wedding with family only, so planning is going very well, so far--venue, some vendors, and the dresses are all set. Anyway, thanks for reading. :)</div>]]>

<description><![CDATA[Hi ladies! I'm really struggling with a wedding location. We are thinking of staying in Wailea (based on recommendations that its the prettiest and dryest for March) but I have no idea where to have the wedding. There will only be like six of us, max.

I really have my heart set on grassy area, palm trees, ocean and another island or mountains in the background. We are looking for a public area as a site feee is not in the budget. (yes, i realize the beach permit is 70)

I really don't want to end up with multiple weddings around us. My ADD could really flare at that point and I want to be in the moment.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!]]>

<description><![CDATA[Hello March brides!<div><br /></div><div>I have what feels like a very silly dilemma. We are having a somewhat formal evening wedding at a beautiful French restaurant and gardens, but I desperately love sunflowers. Can I have sunflowers at my evening wedding? They feel like "daytime flowers." How do I do it without it seeming odd?&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Thanks in advance for your ideas!</div><div><br />Keri Kae</div>]]>

<description><![CDATA[Let me start by saying, I'm not a big fan of following etiquette. Customs and traditions vary too widely for us all to be judging each other by the same standard, in my opinion. That being said, I still don't want to be openly rude to anybody. I figure I many not always know what is right, but I most always know what is kind. And rudeness usually hurts somebody's feelings. I would like to not do that!<br /><br />So here's the thing. I know not all of you are facing situations of discourse, but I bet some are. You know, where family isn't happy with something you've decided about your wedding -- the wedding&nbsp;dress, the venue, the food, certain other guests, etc. What are you doing about it? Are you telling certain people that if they are going to be party poopers they can just stay home? Are you giving them invitations and not saying a thing, hoping they won't show up if all they are going to do is be a black cloud in the room? <br /><br />This very thing is keeping me from moving on with preparing our vow renewal. I'm totally stuck. I'd love to hear how others are handling these situations. I know this may start a mess of a discussion on whether vow renewals are appropriate in general (and, of course, I'm not going to say you can't post about that because I'm not the boss! lol), but my question is more about how to handle people you want to invite but who have a strong negative opinion about certain aspects of your wedding.<br /><br />Thanks!<br /><br />Julie]]>

<description><![CDATA[I have the PERFECT venue for us picked out. But I'm stressing over the weather!! I really wish I knew if it was going to be nice or cold. This year it was nice out, but who knows about next year?! The ceremony can be inside but they have a beautiful rose garden outside for the dancing and music&nbsp;at the&nbsp;reception that I want to use. But I don't&nbsp;want to freeze my guests! <description><![CDATA[So our guest list keeps getting bigger. I have a huge family(my parents have 9 and 7 siblings), FI's Dad has 13 siblings. So our intial count was about 250. Now with everything we're closer to 300. Our venue says it'll hold 450, but thats with tables on the dance floor, and I'd like to avoid taking someones table down after dinner. So we have figured that without putting tables on the dance floor we can seat about 250 people(I'm honestly not sure how they'd fit 450, maybe banquet tables insetad of round). What I've read says to expect 30% declines, so we should be good. But with such a large guest list and not wanting to have too many extra tables on the dance floor the venue really recommends doing a seating chart. I've never been to a wedding that had a seating chart honestly. Thoughts? Seems crazy intimidating trying to seat that many people trying to keep everyone happy.]]>

<description><![CDATA[I'm still up and it's August now, so here's our siggy challenge! This month will be <strong>bouquet inspiration</strong>! Are you going with some exotic flowers or going crafty with fabric? Let's see your inspiration!<br /><br /><strong>What is a siggy challenge?</strong>It's not really a "challenge" in the sense that someone wins, it's just a term really. Each month we choose a theme and put that photo in our signatures (the thing that shows at the end of your posts, like the tickers). You don't have to participate if you don't want to, but it's fun!<br /><br /><strong>Easiest way to upload a siggy photo:</strong><br />-Upload your photo to tinypic.com.<br /><br />-Resize it (I did the "website/email" one but play with it to make sure it's not huge!).<br /><br />-Copy the "html for websites" code (ex. "&lt;a href ="<a rel="nofollow" href="http://tinypic.com/?ref=16a4nkx">http://tinypic.com?ref=16a4nkx"</a> target="_blank" /&gt;&lt;img src="http: //i39.tinypic.com/16a4nkx.jpg " border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic" /&gt;&lt;/a /&gt;" minus the quotes on the outside and the random spaces I threw in. BTW this is one of those sample pics on my computer so if you want some penguins.. lol).<br /><br />-Paste it into the "edit my message board signature" on The Knot (if you need to know how to get here it's My Knot at the top, then My Bio, then edit my avatar &amp; sig).<br /><br />-Done!]]>
