Hey ladies! I know I don't post on this board often, but we're the October brides and I know you would understand.

I just wanted to brag on my FI real quick lol. We have been long dinstance for a very long time. When I first found out he wouldn't be here until late August, I almost had a meltdown because he wouldn't be here until less than 2 months before the wedding. I have since coped, but let me tell you! He has helped with so much! He helped with choosing thank you notes today, he called to disconnect his electricity and cable, he also ordered something to make our new electricity cheaper AND he cleaned out 2 of his computers, all without being asked or hinted to! I am so excited to FINALLY be in the same city as him!

RSVP & Information Card Placement in Pocketfold

For those of you who used a pocketfold type of invitation and had an RSVP and Information/Accommodation card, which did you put on top? From what I've read it seems like the RSVP (under the return envelope flap) goes on top of the additional card. Is that how you ladies did it? Thanks! :)

How long is your reception? (sorry so long)

Our venue gave us 5 hours to have a ceremony and reception, which I think is pretty typical. However, our caterer suggested that we may want to add an extra hour, because we are having a buffet and we are inviting 165 people.

So, after giving it some thought we went ahead and got the extra hour. That cost us an extra $230 with our venue and an extra $75 (I think) with our DJ. So, we're talking around $300 for the extra hour.

Well, now I've started working on a timeline and I'm a little concerned that it might be too much time. We have since decided to do a first look photo shoot which will save us time with pictures. We are not doing a garter toss/bouquet toss either.

Here is my timeline:
Wedding – Day of Timeline

8:00 a.m. Wake up, eat breakfast and shower

11:30 a.m. Leave for hotel

12:00 p.m. Arrive at hotel and eat lunch

12:30 p.m. Hair & make up

3:00 p.m. Desiree arrives – Pictures of dress, accessories, shoes, dresses on hangers

3:15 p.m. Get dressed (Pictures of putting on dress)

3:30 p.m. Leave hotel for Bellevue

3:45 p.m. Arrive at Bellevue

3:50 p.m. Bride and Groom First Look Photos & Other Bride & Groom Photos

4:20 p.m. All Other Photos

- Bride w/ BM’s, Groom w/ GM, Entire Wedding Party, Pictures w/ Parents, Picture w/ Officiant, Picture w/ JBM/JGM, Helthall Family, Vinju Family

5:00 p.m. Nana arrives for guest book/favors/gifts

With the extra hour we have about 3 hours of dancing time. Without the extra hour (in the red) we have about 2 hours of dancing time. I sent this to the caterer to see what he thinks, but am waiting to hear back.

What do you ladies think is sufficient? How long is your reception? I don't want people to leave early b/c it's too long and waste the $300. (Again, sorry so long.)

Writing thank you cards

What's the most appropriate wording to thank someone for a cash gift? Is it inappropriate to say that we're saving for a house? Would it be better to say we will use it as we begin our new life together? I'm at a loss for wording and really not wanting to accidentally offend someone.

Over the weekend I was trying to get a million things done:

Finished addressing outer envelopes (we ran all of our envelopes through the printer and printed directly on the envelope...no labels), printed out most of our menu cards, and started working on assembling programs (about 1/3 of the way done).

FI saw that I looked like a crazy woman when he came home each night of the weekend (he worked all weekend, so was unable to help). Plus, I've been super stressed at work so I think he knew that I was near my breaking point.

FI had the day off yesterday, and I came home from work (late : ( ) to find a completely clean house, all of the inner and response card envelopes printed, he had run a few errands, and that he had won an award at work!

I was so happy with all of his accomplishments that we immediately went out to dinner with the bonus money that FI got from his award!

Hi ladies, I will be around but going to let Cathy stay in charge until I am completely back. I have to catch up on a paper in one class and start planning on starting my new job in another 2 weeks. Hope that is okay with you Cathy. haha
I am 5 days post op now and doing alright. I definitely still have some pain, but nothing unbearable.

RSVP postage for international guests

I'm pre-stamping and pre-addressing the RSVP envelopes. For your international guests, what do you do regarding the postage? Do you just not put any postage on it since our stamps won't work for them? Then they would be responsible for paying the postage themselves? Not sure how this works and what the proper way to do this is.

FI has played on a coed softball team for many years. Many of them never bring their SOs to games but I know some are in long term relationships, engaged, or married. FI is terrible with names and doesn't know the majority of the SOs names.

I just wrote Mr and Mrs John Smith on the ones that are married. For the girls that are married can I put Mr and Mrs Jane Smith? Also those that are engaged I don't want to write "and guest." So what can I do with those? Is "and guest" ok for long term relationships?

Also hyphenated names do I put Mrs Jane Johnson-Smith and Mr John Smith? This was my guess.

Hey ladies, I know some of you have had your showers already. I am wondering if you did a hostess gift? And who you gave it to.... My sister is planning the whole shower and splitting the bill with my other bridesmaids and my mother is also paying for a lot of it.. So, question do I get for all of them? or just my sister because she is planning the most of it?? Also, my sister told me that only 2 or my 8 other bridesmaids are really helping her with planning and such. Opinions? TIA!

XP - Cake Tasting (PIP)

So FI and I and 2 friends went to the Cheesecake Factory for a "cake tasting" since we are getting our wedding cakes from there. It was National Cheesecake day and cheesecake was 50% off!! Yay. We thought that we were only going to be able to get 1 slice per person at the discount but the waiter was awesome and gave us 2 peices each!! We tried, the new Oero, Hot fudge Sunday, Kahlua, Snickers, Coconut Cream, Hershey Bar, Apple Streussel, and Peanut Butter Cup.

In the end I think that we are going to go with Snickers, Vanilla Bean and apple streussel, blueberry white chocolate or pumpkin.

Invite f/u question...RSVP postcards

Ok so this may be really obvious but...like I posted earlier, we got our invites in the mail today. The RSVP cards are postcards and our address is printed right on them to return. My thought was that the postcard stamps would go right on that card and it would be mailed back that way. But there are additional (smaller) envelopes in my package. Am I missing something or did she include them by accident?

I just gave my calligrapher the inner and outer envelopes and list and she informed me that she would be going on vacation for a week and would start them when she got back (she will be back August 5th). If it takes three weeks (I'm throwing an extra week in, just in case, she said two weeks), then it puts me at the end of August. My rsvp date is September 14th and wedding is October 14th.

Side note: 95% of guests got STDs and all guests will be receiving their invites within a few days (no out of country and most are in the northeast).

First Look Photography vs. Waiting until you come down the isle

FI doesn't like the idea of the "first look".......ugh....I love it!!! He thinks since I'm making him wait until the wedding to see the dress then when I walk down the isle should be the first time he sees the dress.....I want the "first look" private photography and moment to ourselves before we go down the isle.....what are all of you doing....and why? We only have 4 hours with the photographer....I think this is an excellent use of her time......and ours...you know...Thought?

So I went to finish my registry at BBB last night. My FI doesn't care anymore about registering so I went by myself. Scanned alot of nice items and decided to leave (it was around 10PM). I got to my car to find the passenger window shattered. The police came and reported it (nothing was stolen - not like there was anything in there except for an umbrella my FI got me). Someone had thrown a rock through the window.

I can just hear FI thinking "karma" - go finish registering for a bunch of things to find I need a new window.

We went to Target last night to register and I thought it would be SO easy but we had a really hard time. We bought a house 4 years ago so we have everything we need as far as kitchen stuff, etc. We picked out nice sheets and down pillows that we'd be too cheap to buy ourselves and picked some new dishes and a vaccuum and a Wii and that's about it!

We want to be respectful of varying budgets and want to give people a choice of what to buy so I was hoping we would end up with a good selection across price ranges. We're not quite there yet! Any tips or tricks you girls want to share?

weekend plans failed

So I started Saturday Morning cutting out the inserts & putting things in an assembly line. I got a hand full of invites folded, inserts in, first envelope & names, outer envelope with addresses. Than we had to leave for a friends wedding. So I planned to work on them Sunday. Well a quick cook out at the FI's parents turned into a 5hr event. While we were there I started feeling like crap. Body aches, sore throat, hot flashes, ect. We go home finally & I just laid on the couch. So no more invites done. I actually called off work yesterday! This is a crazy thing for me I never do this. Well went to the DR. & this bride has strep throat!! Ugh! Kinda glad I wasn't licking peoples envelopes!
