Hi! My finace and I have recently decided that we are going to have a destination wedding. We estimate that we will have about 50 guests. Does anyone have a resort or location that they recommend? Have you been to any destination weddings that you absolutely loved?

Hey ladies, I've been so busy with last minute details for this AHR that I haven't been on... But it's today! I really haven't one a lot of DIY things I haven't really been into it and prob could've done without the whole party but that's another day! We're just going to have a great night with friends and fam and get back to nomal life tomorrow lol. Hope you ladies have a great Sunday!

I need help. We have decided to go to Vegas. I found the Stratosphere hotel to get married at. I need advice. Here is some information about us first. We are flying to Vegas. We have lived together for almost 2 years. Dress? Pick one out here or rent one there? I have no desire to keep it (My biggest fear is flying with the dress. I've had lost luggage before, and it took a week to have it returned) Wedding shower? Reception for family and friends (who were unable to attend) when we return? I want to have lots of pictures and the copy rights. The package I want only offers like 15. Should I hire a photographer? (We are on a budget ) Thanks in advance!!

My FI and I are planning on eloping sometime this year. We want to go somewhere tropical with an georgeous beach and preferably out of the country. I've been doing some reading and realized that there are many "rules" to eloping outside the country which just means more stress!
Anyone know of some beautiful places to elope stress free??

Hello Knotties!

I'm newly engaged and wanted to take a second to introduce myself to the board. I’m Anna. I was a DW Bride before for my first wedding and loved the idea of it, so I'm back for round 2!

FI and I are both from Detroit but planning a July 12, 2014 wedding in Virginia- The Inn at Willow Grove. (We plan on moving to Richmond in about a year or so.) There are gardens, a renovated barn, a manor house and a covered outdoor location for dancing, after party drinks, etc.

I work in the fashion/film industry as a wardrobe stylist/ dress designer and will be designing my own dress and accessories. FI works in marketing and travel and likes to thinks he’s a farmer. (LOL) He owns a farm in the Northern Neck of VA and we will eventually be turning the farm into a winery with a B&B.

The next big check is photography. We have dear freinds that own a floral/tux shop local to Detroit and they will be doing florals and officiating.

Can anyone help with a "DIY" cruise wedding?

Okay, so my lovely fiance and I have decided to get hitched on a transatlantic Disney Cruise. Its just going to be us and my parents and a couple friends. Disney wants a minimum of $3k to marry us, but I'm thinking of "cheating the system" and just doing our own thing on board. We are getting legally married before we leave (I work for an airline and I want him to be able to use my benefits), so thats not an issue. I am just planning on having a ring/vow ceremony, cake and champagne, and looking awesome in a dress. My father is a clergyman, so he is pro at officiating. But the more I try to wrap my head around actually planning this (silk flowers so they last, favors, music, hair and makeup, etc...), the more stressed and confused I get. Does anyone have any experience with a cruise wedding? Its technically destination, but I can't find any info about planning or tips or anything anywhere.

If you can't change your siggy post it in the thread so we can all see!!!

***To put a picture into your siggy, you'll need to log into your "The Knot" Profile (NOT your bio!).
After you login to your account, click on My Knot in the upper left hand corner.

Next, click on My Bio which is located sort of in the middle but slightly to the right towards the top.

Then, click on Edit My Avatar & Sig located on the top directly under where it says My Bio.

From here you will scroll down and put the following into the box that says Edit My Message Board Signature

In that box, paste the following code:

replacing "tinyurlhere" with your personal tinyurl for that week's picture. Save your changes and your picture shoud now show up in your siggy!

In order to get your tiny url go to tinyurl.com and there are instructions there. What I personally do (which is alot easier to me) is I have a photobucket account(which is free) and right after you upload the picture you can just over over the picture and it gives you the link to just copy and paste into your siggy. You would put the code

Whichever works better for you is the one I would recommend.

Happy Saturday!
I am sooo glad I did my weekend cleaning last night, it feels so good to be sitting here in my living room waiting for my tea kettle to whistle, have a nice calm breakfast and just be a lazy bum allll day!!! lol!

Today's plan (some of this will spill into tomorrow)
knit
search for some more groom's suits and have FI make a decision by the end of Sunday (technically I will give him until the middle of next week, but he doesn't have to know that lol!)
search for mother of the bride/groom dresses (since they haven't done so themselves)
write down a to-do list to make sure i am on top of all that needs to be done (will post later for your help in case i miss something)
write down what i have ordered so i won't duplicate anything
get my eyebrows done

Greetings - I am a new poster, but have read a lot on this board that has been very helpful! Sorry for the long post. I'm having a destination wedding on Kiawah Island, SC in September 2013. We and most family and friends from the Midwest). We're finalizing our guest list. Our venue is "scalable" sowe can increase numbers if more people come (and it is not a cost issue if more people come). We are planning to have an AHR soon after we return for those who weren't able to come (and I suppose anyone who was able to come that wanted to see family).

Many of my cousins and their spouses as well as some aunts and uncles likely wouldn't be able to afford to come; however, I don't want to exclude them from the wedding. Ideally we will have a wedding of ~30 people to keep the intimate feel that we want. However, I would rather make people feel welcome and add another 10-15 people than hurt people's feelings. Would it be appropriate to send the invitation to the AHR along with the wedding invitation so our relatives see that even if they're not able to come to the actual wedding / reception that we'll be doing something to celebrate that is easier and more affordable for them to attend? By no means do I think everyone's dying to attend our wedding festivities but I also want to make people feel included should they be interested.

Hope this makes sense. Any feedback on how people made their family and friends feel welcome despite the costs / logistical challenges of a DW would be really appreciated!

We are going to get married where we live, here in Hawaii, but unfortunately because it is a destination wedding for all of our friends and family we have decided hold a small local friends only wedding ceremony to save everyone on the expense of coming here. We would like to throw an anniversary party when we hopefully relocate to the mainland in a year or so. My question is -- what is the etiquette for destination weddings and registries??? Do we register when we plan the anniversary party? Or do we do it when we send out the wedding announcements?

Please save me from any embarrassment as I am not wedding savvy at all!!!

Lunch just ended but I couldn't resist a quick hello to you all!

I am sooo happy it's Friday!! Not as productive as yesterday since I didn't get to what I wanted to do, but still got some work done :-)

When I get home, I think I will do my weekly cleaning tonight as opposed to waiting for tomorrow or Sunday morning, which thankfully is not bad since I do keep up with the place during the week. FI will be out with some buddies so if I finish quickly I can have the entire place to myself to just relax. No plans for this weekend so I will be online hunting for wedding items and finishing my knitting project!

How is everyone else? Any fun plans this weekend??

I recently got engaged and we are planning to have a private wedding ceremony, just the two of us somewhere in Europe. The country has not yet been decided. I was wondering if anyone could suggest an awesome European wedding planner. I will need someone to arrange accommodations and coordinate vendors, but I will also need a lot of help with the marriage laws over seas, what documents I will need, and legal help along those lines.... Anyone have any suggestions for this? Thanks so much for the help!

Odd Question for Coordinator

So, I've found another coordination company that's available for our new wedding date. Before I sign the contract with her I have a strange question to ask but am not sure how to word it. My FI feels strongly about having a male officiant marry us (I think because growing up he's never seen a female officiate and it's his way of making his parents happy since we're not getting married in a church). How do I politely ask her who the officiant is, and if it's possible to have a man marry us? I worry about offending her :-/

A couple different purple gel pastes to figure out to dye my water purple. Hope it works

Decided on the design and fabric for my girls' dresses, their measurements will be taken this weekend!
Songs for the ceremony and entrance to reception picked out, started working on the first dance song...discussed possibly doing a fun choreographed dance too! lol!
Sent final details for the dinner and after dinner party/bon fire to the WC!

Also, received Victorias Secret swim catalog for 2013!! Okay okay, I will not order a new suit from there b/c it's not the "sale" catalog and I can't get myself to purchase a bathing suit for the price of a coach bag :-p I would like to get at least one new suit to wear so I am on the hunt :0(
