I've been reading through posts here and I think this might be the place to be for me.  I live in RI and we're planning our affair in the Adirondacks, which is just a region we love in the US, plus, it's between us and all of our families, which are situated in the midwest.

We're planning during fall foliage next year and it will be a vacation for those involved.  We're paying for everyone's accomodations.  It will be a long weekend (4 days, 3 nights) for everyone (that seems to be what works for everyone).  How much of that weekend should I plan?  Obviously we'd pay for any planned activities for everyone, we don't want people to have to pay anything there since airfare can get expensive and will be hard to fit into some budgets.

Are you ladies planning your days?  Should we just see what everyone wants to do and make a loose itinerary?  it will only be 20-30 people, so it's not like we have to accomodate a ton of tastes and it's all immediate family.

Don't have one.  I don't think a dress has to be a name brand to be stunning on the right figure

23. Any advice you can give to other Knotties whose big day is coming up?

Don't worry about the little things.  And there are a TON of little things.  When I started planning my wedding I decided it was about our families becoming one, and us becoming husband and wife.  It's not about the frilly little favors and the out of town bags.  People are there to celebrate with us because they love us, and they don't care about those little things.

24. Is there anything you wish you could change about your wedding?

I wish my FI's brother was allowed to attend.

26. Tell us about yourself!

Grew up in Central CA, moved to Montana in 2009 and met FI a month after living here.  Our wedding is "destination" because we are traveling to get there.  It's in my hometown.  I have one brother who is a year and a half younger than me and he will be an usher.  I love my friends, and I love my family.  Without them I wouldn't be who I am today.  I'm glad I've waited 31 years to be married, it's not the norm- but neither am I.

9. How did you and your fiance' meet? We both owned businesses in the area of Informational Marketing and attended many of the same meetings. I had been in a little longer than him and was introducing speakers and the like, so he knew who I was but I had no idea who he was. Also to add to things he thought I was married to my business partner/friend. A friend of mine was trying to convince me to date, and I was beyond anti-men. She created an internet dating profile and would read me the messages I got when we got together hoping that one of them would catch my attention. The one that did was just a simple message asking if I am the one that works with my business partner. I guess seeing the profile he realized I was actually NOT married and asked me out lol

10. When did you get engaged, and how did he do it?? - I got engaged May 7, 2011, FI's birthday. FMIL had won a free weekend on Mackinac Island and gave it to us so we booked for his birthday weekend to celebrate his birthday. We went up to the Fort and had wine on their tea patio. After that when we went to the one lookout he asked me. He later admitted to me that he wanted to ask on the patio but there were a bunch of other people there and he was afraid I'd say no lol

15. Favorite wedding vendor so far? - Ooo this is a tough one. If I had to pick I'd have to say my Wedding Coordinator at the resort. She has gone way above and beyond while helping me out. No matter what wedding planning has thrown my way, she's helped me to sort it out, lock it down and fix it. Thanks to her I am getting ready for the big day now and still have hair on my head because I haven't pulled it all out ;) lol I regularly call her my Wedding Planning Angel. 

16. Biggest wedding splurge? - The resort! We had to agree to go with their catering, etc and that ended up being quite expensive compared to catering elsewhere, but we knew from the moment we stepped foot on the resort that it was where we wanted to get married so paid for the extra and didn't let it bother us :) 

17. What is something you wish you could have at the wedding but don't? - We originally had a photobooth but cut it due to budget problems. Then as budget problems got sorted out I wanted to add it back in, but they were totally booked. There aren't many companies in the area and apparently we lost our chances with all of the above :( 

18. Another Knottie whose wedding you'd like to attend? - Hmmm... well obviously I'd travel to ALL of them if I had a chance, but of those left to get married I'd have to say Cathy and Lora because I've been planning alongside you ladies for what seems like FOREVER now! I can't believe its finallly coming up on our turn!!!!

19. Favorite book? This changes from day to day depending on how I feel lol I like a little of everything depending on the day. I did enjoy the Sookie Stackhouse series though, that was good. I also like books that help me to improve things I am working on. Currently my big fav is Body Confidence, its all about stabalizing your blood sugar levels for optimum health :) 

20. Favorite movie? Full Metal Jacket and G.I.Jane lol 

21. Favorite tv show? We don't have television, so I don't really have a favourite tv show... hmmmm.... I did really enjoy watching Flash Point, its based in Toronto

22. Favorite wedding dress designer? My sister is doing mine :) and I like the result so I vote her lol I actually planned my entire wedding never walking into a bridal salon so I don't know of any enough to actually give a name here! 

23. Any advice you can give to other Knotties whose big day is coming up? - Try not to sweat the small stuff. There are things that are going to happen, come up and not work out. If you're doing DIY you're going to run out of time for some projects. The weather IS going to look bad at one point or another leading up to it. Just try to roll with the punches and embrace each twist and turn. Its a wild ride, but as long as you and your FI are married at the end of it then it was totally successful :) 

24. Is there anything you wish you could change about your wedding? - I wish my good friend from the military could make it, but she moved to New Zealand and can't afford the flights because she's got her own wedding Jan 2013

25. Tell us your Knottie name and how you came up with it. - BMcLeod is parts of my name, Team is the name of our business. Its actually something I've used a lot on a lot of different things (email, other logins, etc) so ti was kinda the no brainer choice lol Not overly creative... 

 

26. Tell us about yourself! Hmmm... I'm a little offbeat. I like to have fun. I enjoy music (listening to it, composing it and performing it), martial arts, weapons (like hand guns and assault rifles.... seriously.... lol) and am a BIG animal lover. I consider our 2 dogs and 2 cats to be our children. I have a serious weakness for rainbow sorbet and diet coke (not together). Ya... I honestly don't know what to say here :) lol
