Hi all,

I'm probaly alone in this, but I really don't want my wedding pictures on Facebook and Twitter. I feel as though it's a private and intimate moment that does not to be displayed all over the internet for all to see.

What do you think is the nicest way for me to say this to my guests. Should I just let everyone know when we get to the destination? Should I include it in invites? perhaps put it on the wedding website? Tell people verbally?

And what phrasing should I use?

I am getting desperate haha. I am looking for pouring vases for our sand ceremony. We want to spend less than $20 for the pair and I am having a hard time finding anything that isn't ugly in that price range haha.

Anyone have any suggestions? Or a set that you don't need anymore? I'm getting married on September 22nd, so I still have some time- a little over 2 months- but I'm trying to get all these little details squared away so I can breathe and focus on the big stuff.

Good Morning Everyone!!! How is everyone's Monday going so far? Mine isn't bad. It really isn't manic at all. FI and I managed to get up a few minutes early and get to work on time. Yay for us!! We signed up for a new gym on Sunday. We are going back to Planet Fitness which is where we used to work out. I really wasn't happy at the gym we were going to before so I never wanted to go. I am hoping changing gyms will spark something in me. I am also hoping that by going to the gym tonight, I will lose a few inches in the hip/butt region so my dress fits tomorrow at my dress fitting. Keeping my fingers crossed. lol.

AW & Check: Invites are done!!

Yay!! I spent ALL DAY yesterday working on these and it totally paid off. I literally did everything yesterday... I can't believe I got them all done!

My invites were inspired by ones I saw online, but I made them myself on Photoshop because I wanted to save money haha.

We mounted the invite on to a piece of Azue Blue paper, which we mounted onto a bronze panel pocket. You can't see it in my iPhone picture, but the pocket itself is metallic.

All the enclosure cards. We have guests coming from 9 different states, so the direction card is personalized for each of them. We also had RSVPs printed for guests with 1 seat vs. those with 2. Hopefully that helps us avoid some of the +1 drama :)

XP Visit to the Resort PIP

This weekend we took the trip up to the resort.

Yesterday morning at 9am we met with our coordinator to work through some final details. She started by taking us to our reception venue which has been emptied (it was full of stuff last time I saw it) so that we could discuss where we wanted everything to be. We plotted out the bar, the dance floor, the cake table, the head table, etc.

We were shuttled around in the golf carts from location to location. These are the same golf carts that they will use to shuttle the guests as it is a bit of a walk from the ceremony/cocktail hour end of the resort to the reception end of the resort.

After that we went to the ceremony location and plotted everything out there as well. I didn't really take new pictures of the ceremony location as I already had these good ones to go by from our first visit up:

We discussed all the little details like which decorations we're using/bringing, what we need her to set up, where we're getting ready, timings for everything, what all we want the staff serving during cocktail hours vs what is just there at the booths for guests to access, etc. I know that there is a larger conference room/suite that we'll be using to get ready in, it has its own bathrooms/kitchen (FI is getting ready off site at a cottage his family rented) and she is having a bottle of champagne and some non alcoholic sparking drinks (2 pregnant bridesmaids) sent to the room for us.

After that we had some time to spend just relaxing and enjoying the resort. Wandered around near the ceremony area checking out some of the pretty areas we have and took a ton of picture to share with our photogs. They are local to us and coming with us to our DW so don't know the area. Figured this might held spark some photo ideas :)

After that we went to their upscale diningroom Elements for our tasting. Here's the diningroom:

They reserved us a window table with a view of the lake as well as overlooking our ceremony venue. It was interesting getting to view the whole area from above to see the layout that way!

And of course, the food!
We started with 2 salads, the first was FI's choice: Caprese salad of mozzarella, vine ripened tomatoes, shaved prosciutto, extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinigrette

And then my choice of salad: Butter lettuce, red oak and crispy iceberg salad with cucumber ribbons, pickled carrots, radish, smoked Muscovy duck & champagne vinaigrette

Then we moved onto the main course. FI's choice: Tenderloin of Canadian beef with crispy shallots & porcini mushroom sauce

And my choice: Parmesan crusted chicken with lemon sage & Asiago cream sauce

We also had a pasta option. We forgot to take a picture right away but here's some of it: Orecchiette with rapini, spinach & garlic infused olive oil

After that we moved onto to dessert which was a selection of deserts selected by the pastry chef. We had sea salt brownies, carrot cake, a butter tart and creme brule. I will admit though, it was SO good and we totally didn`t get a picture of it lol

All in all it was an amazing weekend and we got SO much figured out! I am feeling 100%+ better about everything and more excited about the wedding! Can`t wait to get home and see if we have more RSVPs waiting for us!

Guide to DW Board Traditions & Etiquette

Are you new to the DW board? Or just wondering about some of the customs of the DW board? Please take a moment to read this little guide to (almost) everything you need to know about being a DW knottie.This guide was updated in November 2011 by kimmykupcakes. It was first created by StLucia818, katers1279 and fijibabyk. It is posted weekly on the DW board so that it can easily be seen by new DW brides. 1. DW Brides Bio - The DW Brides Bio (<----- clicky link) is a list of DW Knotties, past and present, that includes information such as locations, venues, wedding dates and contact info. The DW Brides Bio is a great tool for finding other DW knotties, how to contact them, their planning bios to visit for reference, ideas and more. Once you have chosen your location, please add yourself using the Contact Us (<----- clicky link) page.

2. DW FAQ- Wondering whether you're required to pay for guests to attend your DW? If it’s alright to have an at home reception? Or who you can invite to what? Then check out the DW Etiquete Q&A (<----- clicky link) for answers to these questions and many more you probably never even knew you needed to know.

3. The Knottie Knot - The knottie knot was something thought up by the girls on the DW board. This knot is a symbol of our friendship amongst each other, as well as a good luck charm that is passed from each DW bride to another.

8. The Next To Leave Crown - The next to leave crown (<----- clicky link) was created in May 2007 by knottie eminbmore and it quickly became a tradition for each DW bride to wear it in her siggy as a way for her to have a moment in the spotlight as the next to leave DW bride. Traditionally, the crown was worn by the DW bride (or brides if more than one is leaving the same day) who was literally the next to leave. However, since there seem to be so many more knotties now, you may put the crown on for one week before you leave. This means you may share it with some other brides! Please also add the actual date you are leaving underneath the crown in your signature. Below is the code for anyone looking for the crown, just copy it into your siggy and remove the astericks. And do make sure you remove it when you're back from your wedding or we may get a little confused.

9. Last Post - Now that you have your crown, it's time to start thinking about your last post before you leave. We had our "meet and greet" yesterday at my parents house. It was actually pretty cool as a lot of my relatives who live out of town made the drive in for a visit. We hung out with everyone as people dropping in and left for about 3-4 hours. Then, any remaining family stuck around for dinner. We had fruit/veggies, chees and crackers out all day, with the cake pops too, of course, then Mom had done a roast the day before and she put out that with buns and topping for dinner. Super easy. It was a crazy long day, but good to see a lot of people we haven't seen in a while. Although we didn't want one in the beginning, I'm glad we ended up with the one. No photos, though I know several people were taking them.

Let's try this again, PIP jewelry!

Bridesmaids dress in! (PIP)

One of my bridesmaids just got her dress! I love it! The other ones are the same fabric and color, but different styles.
I was thinking of getting them this necklace to wear with their dresses, what do you guys think? I still don't know what to get them, I can't spend a lot of money! I asked my dad to bring us (bms and I) white havainas (flip flops) from Brazil and these shell anklets. Is that good for gifts?

I have an unused birdcage veil, some palm fans with ribbon, bride tank tops, a dress i bought for my ttd but didnt use, etc. Is this something you guys would be interested in? DW dilema

Hey all! I'm new to the whole posting boards, but reading the "New to DW boards" made me feel a little better about posting something.

So heres my dilema:

My fiance and I have been talking and really like the whole destination wedding idea! Only destination within the states because we wanted to be sensitive to everyone. This will be my second wedding, his first, so he really wanted a bigger wedding. Another reason we wanted to keep it within the states. We wanted something fun and 100% memorable. Not just another Saturday wedding that everyone forgets about a month later. Soooo...we decided on New Orleans/ Baton Rouge area! Neither of us has been to Louisiana, but have always wanted to go. I've done some research and found the most beautiful plantation that would be my ideal wedding setting =) We live in Utah, he was born and raised here, I've lived here for about 3 and a half years now. My family and friends back in Indiana (and a few here) are all about it! His family 110% against. His friends love the idea as well, but who wants to get married without family? We've even given them well over a year to save for the trip. Any tricks on getting everyone to go along with it?! It is totally his day too, and I know he won't be happy without his family, but I'm not willing to backdown just because they don't like what we want...

It's that time again to update our Siggys!

Each week the girls post a different picture in their siggy. This gives each of us an opportunity to show off just a little bit more of our lives to everyone on the board. Eventually this (page and the siggy challenge information) will be passed onto another DW bride to continue. Siggy challenges will be called out officially on Sundays every week.

Escort Cards/Place Cards!!!!

If you can't change your siggy post it in the thread so we can all see!!!

***To put a picture into your siggy, you'll need to log into your "The Knot" Profile (NOT your bio!).
After you login to your account, click on My Knot in the upper left hand corner.

Next, click on My Bio which is located sort of in the middle but slightly to the right towards the top.

Then, click on Edit My Avatar & Sig located on the top directly under where it says My Bio.

From here you will scroll down and put the following into the box that says Edit My Message Board Signature

In that box, paste the following code:

replacing "tinyurlhere" with your personal tinyurl for that week's picture. Save your changes and your picture shoud now show up in your siggy!

In order to get your tiny url go to tinyurl.com and there are instructions there. What I personally do (which is alot easier to me) is I have a photobucket account(which is free) and right after you upload the picture you can just over over the picture and it gives you the link to just copy and paste into your siggy. You would put the code Whichever works better for you is the one I would recommend.

I am super excited to be relaxing at my sister's this weekend we drove up last night after work. It is so peaceful at her house compared to ours. Sitting on her deck relaxing such a nice view. Gonna grill later.

I need to get my act together and start sending out Thank you cards... BUT I don't know what I want to do. I want something different and creative to match everything else I did for the wedding but my brain doesn't seem to want to cooperate...

I originally wanted to do something that either had one of our wedding images on it or included it, but we haven't gotten any of the high-res images back yet. I'm not sure if I should wait

What have past brides done? any examples or ideas you can share?

What are current brides planning on doing??

I'd like to get these out before the end of the month so I need to get working on them.

Well, I figured I need to add on after tonight. My Mom got us a 1 night stay at the Fairmont hotel in our city for Christmas. Not really our thing, but whatever. We had a nice dinner and went to a festival tonight. Nothing too impressive about the room, we though. Anyway, we get back to our room tonight, and there are 2 bottles of water with glasses laid out, ice in our bucket, slippers on wach side of the bed, 1 bigger for DH ans a smaller pair for me, a plate of various chocolates with "Happy Anniversary" (of when we met) written in chocolate and a card addressed to "Mrs. kje" (I booked the room) congratulating us and welcoming us to the hotel!! Holy crazy!! I guess that's what you eventually get when you're spending more than $100/room!! Of, there was a card on the bed too with tomorrows weather. So this is now my new favorite Friday thing for today. :)

I've been working on my programs today. This is what I have so far. I do not have a location for cocktail and dinner yet (and I don't think it matters that much, it's a small group). I'm going to cut it in 4 pieces and use raffia to attach them. The second one on the the top right is the cover. I think I'm also going to attach a map of the resort, but I don't know whatelse to put on it, I don't want to overwhelm people with a bunch of information. What do you think? Suggestions?

DW Bridesmaid dresses

Ok, I need some suggestions. My wedding colors are shades of purple. For some reason, my MOH keeps telling me that she hates the way she looks in purple and she just hates the color. But purples are my wedding colors. I'm trying to find away to make her comfortable in the dress color. Any suggestions?

Am I really supposed to change the colors because my MOH doesn't like the way she looks in it?

Am I wrong for not wanting to change her color? Of course, I want her to be comfortable though. I can't really think of another option but changing the color for her.

Yeah!
I haven't been posting a whole lot since my first couple of posts because we were having such a hard time figuring out WHERE we wanted to have the wedding.
For a while it was Napa/Sonoma or Hawaii. Some of our family freaked out about Hawaii and we figured it would be too expensive for some anyway so we switched to be Vieques, PR since the cost was at least half of what Hawaii would be.

And...we decided to go with Napa/Sonoma area!! And now it feels like I can actually start real investigation and planning. We have a list of about 10 locations we like the look of and are going to narrow it down to 5 this week. Once we get some pricing back from those 5 we are going to plan a trip out there to see them all and hopefully make decision.

I'm so excited to have our first decision made and to be on our way to getting this whole thing planned! It sounds silly but it feels a bit more "official" now that we have a location picked out.
