I have not had any real issues with planning the wedding until this past week.

Mom got upset because we did not put her name on invite (note: we did not put any parents names on invites). However, we put my father and step mothers name on the note to guests because we are getting married on a ship and people need lots of information and they are the ones hosting/ paying.

So the knotties in the etiquette board told me to do programs and to include the parents names there. CHECK, done! Problem solved.

Now, we have 42 people sailing with us and here comes more drama about a seating chart for the group dinners every night.

My parents are divorced and remarried but all have family that they know who is coming on the cruise. My FI parents are married but have no family that is coming on the cruise. And after 14 years have not really met my parents. Awkward!

Anyways, my father obviously does not want to sit with my mom and vise versa (I think). Which puts me in a very bad predicament. If I sit with my dad and FI parents my mom will be upset and if I sit with my mom and my FI parents my dad will be upset.

I do not see any way around this and the ship does not let you move to a different table each night. You must sit in the same spot for all dinners.

This is a nightmare! I really do not know what to do.

I forgot to mention that he got "frocked" last weekend, which is a promotion, a higher rank! He new he was getting it but didn't know when they were doing it. Our house is now in shambles. We moved everything out of the living room and dining so I'm now hanging out in our back room with 50 other pieces of furniture. The guys are coming Thursday to start on the floors. We can't walk on them until Sunday morning so I gotta find some where to go this weekend. Fun fun, but hey, it's Sunday and tomorrow I'll be back at the bathroom hijacking at work ; )

My partner and I are geting married in September 2012 in VT (we live in Charleston SC) and I'm thinking will probably do an AHR later too. However, is there any ettiquite on the time frame for the AHR? We will be paying for the wedding and the AHR ourselves so we may need to space it out a bit. We are planning for about 20 people at the wedding and there are so many we'd want to celebrate with later at home. What do you think? Thanks!

I started out wanting to elope b/c I didn't want to deal with it all. And, don't get me wrong, I'm sure it still would have been fabulous had we decided to do that. BUT, what I want to tell you all is that - it's SOOOO worth it! I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat! You will never feel so much love and support in one day! Again, I'm sure eloping would have been fab too, I'm NOT knocking it AT ALL! But, in hindsight, I am so happy and feel so blessed to have spent the most special day of my life with people who truly care so much about us and were truly so thrilled to be there with us!! Also goes back to why a DW is so awesome... people at home will just go to your wedding for something to do on a random Saturday night. People who travel and make sacrifices to make sure they're there with you.... those are friends to cherish forever!

So, that's about all I got! I'm sure I'll think of more! And, I just wanted to tell you all again how much I appreciate all of your support and help throughout this planning process! I would have never gotten through it without you all! I welcome any of you to come to me via FB, email (EML113 @ hotmail dot com) or whatever... I will definitely be popping in and out of here though, b/c I cannot wait to hear all about your amazing wedding days!!

LOVE you all!!! :)

I am just deciding how many pages/what titles to give things.

Most of them include: Ceremony, Wedding Party, Acknowledgements

Not sure I like the 'Acknowledgements' because I see that page being a place to put Thanks Yous at the top and the little 'Memorial' quote at the bottom, but not sure I like that being an 'Acknowledgement' (might be overthinking that a little lol).

Also I want to include an explanation of what the Cord of Three Strands is I think, so should I try to fit that on Ceremony or create an additional page?

Here's the inspiration pictures, picture it with black instead of blue and red instead of pink...

ETA: If you want me to email you the template I found, PM me your email or post it below :)

Of course the more I think about my dress the more I worry about the decisions I made (see why I shouldn't be allowed to go anywhere alone!)

Today I am 2nd guessing my bustle.... So I need some advice!

Since my dress is sooo textured, it really was having a hard time laying right for any of the bustle styles... Part of me thinks it was the way the seamstress was holding it...but whatever..

In the end, the seamstress convinced me to go with a "train flip' style... she called it a ballroom style BUT it looks nothing like the ballroom style ones that I found on google. It really is just taking the train and flipping it under and it all ties up under the dress.

2 problems I realized with this... 1) the part that ends up potentially touching the floor is the middle of the train since the edge will be tucked under... My fear is that when I un-buslte it for my trash the dress pics the next day I will have a dirt line in the middle of my train! and 2) my dress has a scalloped lace trim... how stupid will it look with the front of my dress with a scalloped edge and the back of my dress without since it will be tucked under...

I'm trying to get over it since I know my dress will probably be bustled for 1 1/2 hours max.. BUT I can't.. and I paid $100 for it.

So what do I do? I know if I call them and tell them not to do the bustle I run the risk of them not being able to do something else since my next appt isn't till June 14th and that's barely over a week before I leave.

Do I tell them to forget it and just carry my dress around? I think if I had to go with one of the other options I'd go with the french bustle, but I'm not sure if they'd be able to do that in a week.... WHY OH WHY do I always do this to myself??

Hello. My partner and I are just about to book a wedding trip. I have run into an issue regarding invitations, though. Our travel agent says that from the day we book to the day the deposits for the trip have to be in from everybody will be 2 months! That is all! She recommended we use an email to let everyone know our travel arrangements, but I always thought that was tacky.
I have found great invitations on Etsy a while back and have planned to use them. The person who makes them says it's going to take 3 weeks for her to make them and and then mail them to me. Add to that the time it would take me to mail them out to everybody and I'm afraid we will be over the deadline.

So... what should I do?

I guess I will have to send out email initially, but should I still send out invitations even if that will be slighltly after the fact? I could make my own and send them, but I am not crafty and they will likely look terrible if I do them.
Anyone else have to rush their destination invitations like this? Have any ideas?

I am finally home from my fitting... it actually went pretty well.

The alterations were pretty costly since the hem on my dress is a bit difficult.. but as of right now I didn't need my dress to be taken in around the waist so I didn't have to pay for that.. but it did need to be altered in the bust area, it needed a hem and a bustle.

I decided to get it hemmed to my flats, even though I really really wanted to wear heels... it just made more sense. So now I need to work on my posture since with heels I tend to have better posture.

I also found my earrings! and even though I probably could have gotten them a bit cheaper online than in the bridal store I bought them any. I'm an instant gratification type and being able to take them home with me today felt good.

Since I was alone I didn't get many pics, but I got two with my dress and veil/hairpiece and jewelry on... I think you can see the earrings and bracelet.. I'll post a factory pic of the earrings too.

Here are the pics... the dress will fit better in the front as soon as it's altered and the cups won't be black lol

Here is a close up of the earrings...
Hey guys,
One of my old friends from high school is getting married soon and I want to find her the perfect wedding gift. I considered her my best friend when I was in high school and we have grown apart throughout the years but she is still very dear to me. She found out over the summer that she has a brain tumor and they allowed her to hold off surgery until after the wedding. I want to get her something really thoughtful for her wedding that can let her know how much I love her and that I am here for her if she needs me. I do wish that we were still as close as we were but things happen and you lose touch with people. I was at her bridal shower recently and it really reminded me how much I love this girl and miss her in my life. I feel so sad that she is going to go through this surgery and I want her to know that I do love her and miss her...thought it would be cool if I could incorporate this message somehow in a gift.

I know you guys are super creative and can help think of an awesome wedding gift ! Thanks =)
