I was going to give all my bridesmaids a Bridesmaid Emergency Kit but I have recently decided to do bathroom baskets at the wedding so should I still give the bridesmaids the emergency kits or opt out of them? I have not told them I was going to do it yet so no need to worry about anyone getting upset. It seems as though the bathroom baskets will have pretty much everything the kits would and the girls are already getting other gifts.

My fiance and I are having a rockabilly wedding since we're both very into the styles of the 50's, I love old school pin ups, I've got a love of all things old school tradition tattoos and we met in a tattoo shop I used to work in on my day off for a mutual friends tatto we were thinking of setting up a small 'tattoo shop' at our reception.

It would be a table in a corner with tattoos and the tools needed for them. I'd love to do this as an ode to the way my FI and I met and where our relationship began. I'm just wondering how to do this so it isn't just a table with a sheet over it.

Does anyone have any cool idea's for me? I'm thinking of printing out Sailor Jerry flash tattoo posters and framming them to decorating the area and maybe making a sign that says 'Clark Forever Tattoo' so it looks like a parlor. But I don't know how to set up the table to give it a tattoo studio feet other than maybe making it look like the flash is lined up to look like a portfolio of work and then setting up any materials needed to look like a tattoo is being ready to be done.

I also thought I'd get a wide variety of fake tattos, some for kids some for teens or adults to get in on the fun. I also thought about making a few custom ones with our wedding date and our names on them. But I thought if I did those I'd put them on the tables as favors. But I don't really want to have favors since they are lame to me.

Any Idea's about what I should do?

Hello! I am new to the Offbeat Wedding board, so I thought I'd do a quick intro. My FI and I got engaged last Friday. Prior to asking me, he checked in with my 8 year old daughter to make sure she still wanted us to get married. She became very serious, took a deep breath in and said, "Yes, I do!" After he said he would propose to me soon, she told him that Macy's was having a sale on rings. (Never misses a beat, that kid!)

So, here we are a couple of music/synth/science nerds planning a wedding. We have a ways to go before the wedding (just under two years), so that we can save up for the kind of celebration and honeymoon we want. Apart from the photographer and venue, which we want to book early, we are mostly in the idea generating stage.

Things we think we want to do:

Incorporate records into the decor

Play Vangelis for the processional/recessional

Minimize floral decor

Dispense with traditional "moments," like wedding party speeches, bouquet toss, and so on

A chocolate fondue fountain instead of a wedding cake

I look forward to getting to know some other offbeat brides and drawing inspiration from each other!

Want your ladies opinion. I have been fretting about finding the right footwear for the reception.

Recap for those that don't know I am a 2 dress bride. For the ceremony, dinner, toasts, original dances (first dance, etc) I am wearing my mother's dress (majorly altered) and these GORGEOUS bright red heels that I found. After that for the dancing/partying I have a tea length lace overlay dress with a red satin sash. (see bio for pics of all of the above).

I have been looking for some sort of black footwear (maybe with red accents) that would be comfortable, stay on my feet while dancing and be fun at the same time. I have tried sandals, ballet flats, you name it and been getting REALLY frustrated. Today I was on Ravelry (another site I'm ADDICTED to, NWR) and found some patterns that caught my attention. What if I made my reception footwear? Wool footwear is really comfortable, and some fabric paint can quickly give it a non slip sole...

Here are some of the patterns I was looking at. Thoughts?

We want one that's 2 dragons dressed in bride and groom attire eating the bride and groom cake topper. If we can't find someone skilled enough to do it well then I think we'll go with the game board cake.

We want mainly silver and sapphire blue with bits and pieces of Dungeons and Dragons. The cake, the favors, the guest book and pen, the bride and groom champagne flutes, the food menus, and maybe some DnD figures on the tables...

Anyway, other suggestions would be nice.
In our attempt to be green, we've tried to limit the number of flowers. Our centerpieces are mostly moss and tree stumps I have been collecting.

Orginally, I was going to make my bouquet from fabric scraps. But now I've found this local artist. We have a meeting with her next week to go over some custom work. What do you guys think? The style and colors can all be customozied.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Green-Art-Studios/204700672888167?sk=photos

PS~ all the flowers are made out of plastic bottles. How freakin awesome is that?

Hi there! I've been considering having a game themed wedding reception and I was thinking of having board games, like apples to apples, catch phrase, pit, etc, as well as some lawn games. I've been getting mixed reviews though from others, some say it's a really fun idea especially since not many people will probably not be dancing ( not from my family anyways). Others say its tacky and no one will probably play since there is a certain wedding "expectation" for how to act at a wedding, but I always think its too stuffy and I want to liven the place up a bit and not have it so formal. The reception will be very laid back I'm having it at a working ranch where you will probably here the cows mooing in the background, so its kinda going to be like a bbq/picnic atmosphere. Also If I have games do I need a DJ and music for dancing? I'm struggling with ideas and I need help, please tell me what you think thanks so much!

You went to a wedding in a movie theater?
Has anyone done that before? My fiance and I were supposed to be getting married August 4th of this year in a playhouse. However, the playhouse seemd reluctant to return our calls and we live 7 hours away from where we were supposed to be getting married. We decided (with such little time left) to push our wedding back to August 4th of next year so we could find another venue and plan a better wedding.
Then we find out you can get married in a movie theater and our favorite movie theater will let us rent out a theater to have for our wedding. We have all these awesome ideas for it and think it would be so unique. Our friend introduced us to each other because she knew we both love movies. We are at the theater every week. Anyone who knows us knows this is perfect.
I'm starting to ramble, but basically I am just wondering has anyone been to or had a wedding in a movie theater? Is it as amazing as I am thinking it will be?

How is everyone's week going? Mine has been a HUGE emotional rollercoaster and I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy that its finally coming to an end! Can't wait for this weekend!
Tonight I was supposed to go to a business meeting, but not sure I'll be going. I have a friend in the hospital that I'd rather be there for tonight. Tomorrow same thing, business meeting in the evening that's currently TBA whether I go or not. Besides that I can just relax and get some DIY stuff done. Then on Sunday we're driving the 5 hours north for my cousin's bridal shower! She's getting married in June. Looking forward to seeing the family :) My family does a 'co-ed' shower... kinda... the guys all come but they have their own seperate 'guy place' to go hang out during the shower itself, so its still a ladies only shower lol. In this case there's a huge barn/work area that the boys often use and they're hanging out there lol
