Hi everyone,

I was trying to plan my wedding which I want to be a vintage one. I was searching some venues online but there are myriads of them. I want the venue to be sombre yet at the same time something classy. We are planning to have our wedding in Toronto yet close by rural areas are also something we consider.

Any recommendations and ideas are more than welcome. Thanks!

Doing a little bit of online window shopping. Here's some pretty things.

The ivory boots are more well received than the brown, but being well received was never really that important. It's more about finding something that matches your personality and also looks great with your wedding attire.

The lace ones are amazing. Second, I love the high ankle brown and ivory boots equally.

Vintage(ish) style but not themed? Need help deciding on tablescape decor

My wedding is on June thirteenth of this year. I chose Victorian Lilac/Wisteria, Blush/Dusty Rose Pink (whatever the closest floral color is), Ivory, and Antique Gold as my wedding colors. The antique gold will only be the painted vases holding the centerpiece flowers, and possibly the keys holding the place cards/escort cards (not sure if I am doing separate cards or just one card for both purposes) and picture frames that hold the table numbers (which will be book titles). The flowers will be purple (that is as close as possible to the lilac), the pink, and the Ivory/White. The tablecloths will be pink.

I want to have votive candles on the table as well. I don't know what would work the best, style-wise. My day-of-wedding coordinator suggested gold mercury votives.Should I pick this style or should I choose another style? I also looked at votives on Etsy that have French script on them. Do y'all have any other ideas that are better than this? I am afraid of everything clashing.

The wedding will be at a historic manor.

I am looking for a barn in Michigan, no further than 90 minutes from Oakland County. I was in LOVE with a barn in my area, but they require the entire amount of the barn paid up front to book a date. I am now struggling to find something within my budget (DIY wedding) that is cute and within the area. I am looking for vintage chic, not super country down on the farm. Please help!

So ,it seems that there arent many options for retro/vintage anything to choose from on this site , and even less if you dont live in a major city

We live in a small town of about 20,000 people and closest city to me is rockford illinois (not really much of a city either lol)

We have chosen to have our reception at a local sports bar that has a nice big party room .

Of course we are DIYing all the decor and its going to be retro casual , 1950s meets las vegas rat pack theme .

My colors are red ,black, and aqua , with leopard accents . and also some white thrown in here and there to brighten it up.

Here is a pic of my dress from eShakti.com . they costomize all there dresses length , type of sleeve and exact measurments for bust , waist and hips , they even ask your hight , my dress with look like this but have 3/4 sleeves and is tea length like pic im in love with it and cant wait to wear it

So I have tried this dress on a few times and everytime I do, I get everyone at the bridal salon giving compliments, stopping what they are doing to say it looks great, my entrie family felt it was the one, but I am still so unsure. I just bought it because it was being discontinued and I bought the sample - thinking it would be great to save some money and also because if everyone else went out of their way to say how nice it was - maybe I would see it. But I feel like I made a mistake. I know most might say - you need to do what you want, its your day, you need to like it, but right now I am not really in the position to go buy another dress. So I took some photos - I am posting it, please give your opinion! Its a wedding at a 1800 Manor at 2 story barn - rustic. I have no ideas the colors I am going with, still trying to see what goes with the dress. The guys are wearing grey pants, white shirts, my fiance will have a grey vest - newsboy hat, etc and the other guys will have the grey pants, white shirts and suspenders. Casual, Country, Rustic.

Please, honest opinions, don't spare my feelings, I need your help!!! Thanks ladies!!!

Dress Decision

I need help choosing the perfect dress for the big day. I've narrowed it down to two used gowns I found for sale online.

Option one: Pronovias Oceano with a bargain basement price of $850. It's beautiful. I love the intricate beading. Definitely has that timeless Hollywood glamour feel to it.

Option two: Claire Pettibone Kristene for a quite out of my budget $2,000. It's perfect. I love the lace. Definitely has a modest romantic vibe.

It's so hard to choose between the two. I love the layering and the train in both of them. Both suit my theme PERFECTLY. If the world was a perfect place and money was no object, I would wear #2 to the wedding and #1 to the reception. HELP ME.

Hi everyone! So my fiance and I are getting married in December of 2014, and we have decided on a 1920s theme. I have already found the venue, the dress, the tuxes....but I am struggling with the bridesmaid's dresses. I want them to be Charleston/flapper style, without looking costumey or being extremely expensive. I would like to keep the dress cost under $200/bridesmaid. Anyone have any suggestions?

Catering/food for literary themed wedding

I'm stuck. I'm trying to think of food options that work for my literary based theme. Much of the decor will be book related or photography related (vintage cameras and stacks of his/hers favorite books). Everything will likely be surrounded by photographs, flowers, and the ol' burlap and lace combo. The venue itself is right on the ocean. What foods do you think of in this type of environment? What would be a glaring contrast? Any help would be appreciated!!!

I'm having trouble meshing together both of my loves ... I've decided on my color palette of golds, ivories, goods and bronzes. I'm getting a lot of feedback that my "style" or theme" ideas are incompatible. I love Old Hollywood glamour and a bit of glitter. My fiancee is much simpler and more rustic/country. We've tentatively settled on a copper, gold and blush color palette.

I'm having such a hard time finding our wedding venue! Most venues are just $3000 not including anything. We want a venue that represents us, and we are opposite of traditional! We are looking for color, spunk and something that will leave a lasting impression. Our budget is 5K and under, and would like food, bar, tables, chair and flatware included. I know that it's going to be hard to find, but I just feel like I'm drowning in venue shopping! Please someone help! Hey ladies (and gents). Our wedding is about a year away so I'm really starting to think about colors and themes (I want to start drooling over dresses!). Our venue (Patrick Haley Mansion in IL) has a pretty garden for the ceremony and a beautiful and airy tiled ballroom for the reception. A lot of gold is already incorporated into their decor and the mansion, all of which will be open to guests, was built around 1890. How do I pull off the kind of gorgeous wedding like in Downton Abbey without totally ripping it off? I also don't want to wear a completely authentic period dress either... Any ideas on colors and decor from anyone who's done or seen a similar wedding before? Thanks!

Wedding Ceremony in a 1920's theatre

Hi All-
We are getting married 10/5/2013. We are having our wedding ceremony at an old 1920's theatre. I'm having a few issues and I need advice or help from creative minds or anyone who was married in a theater. There are two side aisles and two end stairscases (no middle aisle/no middle staircase). I'm having trouble figuring out how I will walk down the aisle and enter the stage, maybe have the guest all sit on one side and just use one aisle? or maybe someway have the curtain open and have my dad and I walk a few feet to meet the groom/officiant? I need help! For decorations, I wanted to keep it simple, we are having our reception at the local country club and I've collected blue mason jars, and vases which I was going to put lights in the blue mason jars and hang on the outside patio and the vases I was going to fill with beads and different colored fillers.

I would appreciate any help or ideas!
